I watched The Brady Bunch throughout my childhood, but for some reason this episode wasn't initially included in the syndication package purchased by my local station [ WLVI Channel 56, Boston ] and it wasn't until I was teenager that I saw it. I love the ending. Good slapstick never gets old.😄
Well they were in the Los Angeles, California area so it was totally normal. That happens to average non-famous families all the time there. Ok, no it doesn’t but it probably happens there more often than almost anywhere.
@@EastSide-qc5oy You know what, if you were a successful LA architect in the 70's, when LA was smaller, I acknowledge it would be a lot more likely that you'd come across a celebrity and bring them home to meet your kids once in a while.
That was typical of many shows. The Odd Couple comes to mind for having way too many celebrity cameo appearances. The worst offender was Here's Lucy. Lucy seemed to encounter a celebrity in every episode. I'd say that's kind of odd for someone who works as a secretary at an employment agency.
@bobbyb7979 Thank you for commenting. I looked him up on Wikipedia. I was only familiar with the role he played in. The Born Losers And he did so much more than that particular movie. And good for him since he is still alive.
Poor Marcia - she turned clumsy at the end. While ole me is clumsy most of the time lol - I guess to go along with all my frizzy falling out hair hahaha!
For a long time, I thought that Molly was played by Sharon Smyth, the girl who played Sarah Collins (the little sister of Barnabas Collins in the 1700s) in Dark Shadows. She would have been that age when this Brady Bunch episode was filmed. I do know that Denise Nickerson, who also acted in Dark Shadows, did a Brady Bunch episode when she was older.
Geesh, these shows from the 1950s to early 1970s featured nothing but WASP, white bread characters? Forget blacks and Hispanics, they didn't even have Eastern or Southern Europeans in these shows!
And what is wrong with that? To drop in folks from Puerto Rico, Italy, and Somalia just to "add flavor" would have looked clearly phony. Too often people deny their backgrounds to "blend in perfectly" with whites, but if someone points out any differences, even as a simple observation, then they start bitching about racism, and believe me... Whites are getting so tired of the endless grumbling. Why can't the "non-WASPs" stop griping and simply build up their own communities instead of tearing down one another?
Lava1964, indeed they will often come across as being very fake. In real life, people tend to mingle with those of their own backgrounds, anyway. A Mexican couple will likely look for other Mexican couples to enjoy a double-dating experience, for example. I cannot see "a WASP" blending in with them at all, especially if the Mexican couples have limited English skills.
Yes. Not exactly a good message for girls. Then I had issues with the characterisations for some of the boy characters too. Harold Axelrod, Harvey Clinger. Stereotypes of nerds. They wore glasses. They were socially awkward and had unusual interests, compared to the Brady boys who all had athletic abilities and never lacked any self confidence.
@@scottmcphee2076 There are lots of episodes where the Brady boys, especially Peter, were lacking self confidence. Peter said, "I'm dull, D-U-L-L," "I don't have a personality" etc.. But I agree with you about disliking nerd stereotypes.

No famous people every stopped by my house growing up. It happened on the Brady Bunch like 10 times.
well it helped that they were on TV! :-P

Sorry Marcia, there's a new girl in town that's more popular then you. I hear even Jan likes her more.
So does George Glass.
Molly looks a little like Drew Barrymore
i never thought molly was ugly at all
Louis Tenore
Of course she was ugly! She wore fuckin’ _glasses_ for Christ’s sake! GLASSES!🤮
@Mary Cohen Glasses don't make some one ugly

Col. Whitfield is played by William Wellman Jr. son of legendary director William Wellman.
Wow! That astronaut looks as if his father earned his Wings back in 1927!
wild bill wellman. his mom, dorothy coonan, was a total hottie until she married wild bill and quit showbiz to raise a family.
Good golly miss Molly!
Mike Pastor. K that's probably where Little Richard got the ideal, jk.

I used to watch dark shadows back in the day, and you're right Molly does look like Sarah Collins, Barnabas Collins little sister. 😮
@veronicaa.1416 Wow, I had no idea that she almost became Jan Brady! I could see her in that role!
Dark Shadows was on at 3 or 4am back when I had insomnia and that eerie intro and outro music did nothing to help me get to sleep, lol.
@@msr1116 I am a devoted fan!
Marcia is such a snob
That astronaut would be arrested today for frolicking with that underage snatch.
Marcia loved the older guys . Remember the dentist and Davy Jones and Doug was 23
Well if you're going down, go down happy!
TheChuck624 true that!
No he wouldn't.
15 will get you 20
Groovy!
That astronaut is getting a 3some
marcia and molly are going to ride his rocket to the moon.
Lol lol
Sure, Jan...
Debi Strom did a great job as the 'two Mollys,' but I can't see her as Jan ( she was picked as the brunette one I think?)
Mrs marcia dentist
lol ikr. What a crush she had on him that time.
Were Astronauts meant to be cool back in the day?
Created a monster😐
Needs to stream on Pluto tv 1:01
Remember that whine/whimper we’d hear in the canned laugh track! 1:18 is one
Anyone think Whitfield sounds exactly like Barry Williams? Bizarre.
The one thing I can't stand about this episode is that annoying musical theme they used for that Molly girl.

Well said. Whenever I see TV shows and commercials that clearly have quota systems for "inclusion," they seem to be contrived and totally unrealistic.

***** True, but I am not talking about racial minorities. What about Greeks, Italians, Poles? This WAS California. Not even any Catholics?
atlantic1119, they all tend to keep mostly to themselves.
Molly was NOT a good looking, girl...even after Marcia fixed her up.
But she had great legs!
She was not ugly either I thought she was just a cute young girl that's all they made so much out of it because it's just a TV show a comedy
i agree. the best thing that happened to her was improved confidence. confidence is an attractive quality in both men and women.
This is such a superficial show. Molly is suddenly valuable because is pretty. Ugh!!
Molly also developed confidence but let it go to her head.
@@mainecoon6514 , I agree. She developed an attitude. At the end, she saw the error of her ways.
