Lanil this is excellent. Very well researched. I have been playing MIDI since 1988. But I never knew it's history until i saw your video today. Thank you. Keyboards these days pack a lot of features and are so powerful. The best MIDI sequencers at that time could only record about 100,000 events. You didn't have an all in one, single item like these keyboards. We had to use MIDI to connect a keyboard, a drum machine, tone generator and of course a sequencer. You are doing some stella work. Thank you very much. Your comment always encourages me. I did not know about it. It is only now that I understand why drum machines became so popular in the '80s. But I still love the music of that era composed using drum machines and synthesizers. Thanks again. I will put another video.

But then they didn't sound as authentic as today's sampled sounds. It seems to me that MIDI these days is more popular for sharing compositions between instruments, where as those days MIDI was used to - communicate with/connect/control, a number of devices. One of which would be set as the clock, and rest would be set to MIDI so they can all follow the clock (timing) of the master - usually a sequencer. It's unbelievable how much electronic music technology has developed.
