Here's another tip: an image that is set to 300 ppi and is 1/2" wide has less resolution than an image that is 72 ppi but is 2.5" wide 180 x 120 pixels. In other words, ppi by itself is meaningless unless you have a quantifier with the resolution. If I said it takes me one minute to get to the store, that by itself doesn't really explain everything unless I add that I'm going 60 miles an hour. That tells you a lot (such as I'm driving on city streets and crazy speeds). What is much more critical when talking about resolution is the actual pixel by pixel size of an image. In my example above, the 1/2" image had a resolution of 150 x 100 which means it has less resolution than 180 x 120.
Does Snagit tell you any information about the size of the image you've captured? If so, how would I know if my image in the editor is 60pixels or 300?
Excellent video and info Erin. I use this feature all the time. This feature along with all the other features presents a beautiful canvas to do just about anything. Documentation and training is my game and Snagit/Camtasia are my go to products
Ugh .. I have no luck with this at all. No matter what I do the new image is ALWAYS over overhanging..I have used the lock and also not used the lock when changing size and neither makes a difference in my final.. so I lose some of the original image.. mostly the top of the image. Dunno what in god's name I am doing wrong but it won't be long until there is a computer in the snow bank... WHY IS EVERYTHING SO DANG COMPLICATED. One would think that at this stage in our tech game we could have a resizer the just does it and does it correctly without the technical know how... Yeah yeah they have those already... I have tried those and they are useless.
Sorry, the reason why this isn't working for people is for a variety of reasons. Enlarging the photo too much. Using inadequate software. And the fact that you cannot enlarge a photo without losing quality. The more you enlarge the more quality you lose. It's simple math. While AI may be capable of doing this, and maybe even moreso in the future, it's not possible. Sorry peeps. What the internet and hacks tell you isn't always true.

This is a useful tip Erin and so useful for images being used across so many types of software.

Not for nothing but your instructions were still confusing

It literally feels like every tutorial is basically an ad for their sponsors
