My theory has always been that the Death Troopers Moff Gideon has been working on. This was a trial run and being robots the could have easily aimed for soft spots with disruptor rifles. A disruptor is just a more powerful blaster and so its possible disruptor fire wouldnt harm the beskar but disintegrate the flesh beneath.
something you probably thought of already, I just didn’t hear you mention it- this theory could also explain the armorers survival, despite the rest of the covert dying? there are other theories out there speculating as to whether or not “the armorer” is actually Rook Kast, and in my mind anyways, if the empire had at one point developed further versions of the Dutchess, Rook Kast would know about it, or atleast its’ possible existence? She could potentially have had time to take off her beskar, after hearing the approaching sound of the hypothetical* machine. Maybe she had fallen back to defend the forge, and therefore had no time to warn, or communicate with the other mandos. -Just where my mind went, there are probably holes in the theory. It sure is fun to speculate though! I’d love to see the armorers’ character be fleshed-out more in the next season(or two).
I like that! I do have a fan fiction video explaining how she is Rook Kast. I didn’t even think about her knowing of the Duchess. Thanks for pointing it out.
Apologies beforehand for the long winded comment (and Spoiler Warning in case some are behind on episodes) Some of the Mandalorians had to have survived - there were no (easily seen) small, child-sized helmets. Meaning some of The Covert most likely made it out - with the young foundlings that were seen running down the hall when Din was bringing the beskar to The Armorer. And (I believe) one of those survivors was Paz Vizsla (big bulky gatling gun Mando that tousled with Din; for those that didn't know his name), and I believe this because I've poured closely over moving frames, still frames and enlargements of that scene and none of the visible helmets in or around the pile are Paz's distinctive helmet (I might have a SLIGHT crush on Paz hence the worrying over his survival, lol). Also, respectfully, I don't think the Imps used Duchess... I think, more likely, it was Dark Troopers. A platoon of Dark Troopers (sent by Gideon upon finding out where his asset is and who has him) could overpower the remaining Mandalorians (Gideon said it himself to Din - Din had a heck of a time with just one Dark Trooper...imagine facing off against a whole platoon). Especially when said Mandos are mentally preoccupied with covering the escape of foundlings and their guardians. A platoon of Dark Troopers to swarm and seige the tunnels with a fire team or two of Stormtroopers following as clean up. Plus, the pile of armor and helmets was too purposely stacked - the pile was left as a warning to any Mandos that came looking into the fate of The Covert (more specifically, a warning to the Mandalorian that had the Moff's asset). Besides, if Duchess was used, it would have destabilized the beskar in the armor (also on this point, in this moment of SW history, beskar was a rare and hot commodity and not even many Mandalorians could hold enough for a full armor set - most Mandos were probably sporting Durasteel which would be unaffected by the Arc Pulse Generator) causing the armor to become weak and fragile like burnt cardboard, holding its shape right after being burned but easily crumbing to the touch {recall when Sabine tried to pick up a pauldron after Arc Pulse Generator was used against Clan Wren during the one civil war} to the point that when Din tried to lift the helmet, it would have crumbled to dust. Those are my thoughts and theories, what do you think?
Not to Squash any hopes, but in legends children under 8 years of age didn't get their armor to avoid it being Redone 3 times over (because children grow). It is unknown Wether or not the children of the watch did Practice that belief since the moment they're adopted into the creed, no other living thing is supposed to see their face. And the duchess works by whitelisting stormtrooper (or plastoid) armor to avoid friendly fire, otherwise 99% of mandalorian armor would be safe since the armor composition varies from blacksmith to blacksmith and the amount of Beskar being available.
One thing I'm currently thinking about: 1. The data of the duchess targets Beskar. Couldn't a slight Change in armor composition lead to evading the duchess? After all, the metal composition changes from blacksmith to blacksmith 2. I think I found my leak around the secrets of beskar: Sabine had to give up some data of Beskar, so the duchess could work. Why the Empire didn't use that data to identify potential Beskar sources beyond mandalore is that Beskar became obsolete with the introduction of the duchess. And thus wouldn't protect from friendly fire, if it was introduced in a larger scale.
@@wardlafferty362 She developed that weapon freely willed. Brainwashed, but of her own accord.
