The difficulty we have is that debates and discussions are always going to be "triggering" to people. Anything worth discussing is, by definition, going to leave certain people feeling an injustice, outrage, disgust etc. Whilst that's par for the course with debates, we are now in an era in which people listen to reply, rather than listening to understand. Consequently, it's neigh impossible at times to debate in any meaningful sense, as at least one side is likely to not be listening to the others case, instead waiting for a gap or pause in their speech so that they can interject (as was the case here). It's sad, but I think that as much as today's culture is to blame, the technology is too. When people are used to getting instant answers from a machine that doesn't talk back, question your logic, or pose hypothetical situations, all whilst offering opinion pieces slanted towards a particular narrative and fake statistics on social media sites, they find any kind of face-to-face debate too much. It's draining and frustrating to them, especially having to justify their position. So, instead they simply talk over the others, block their ears and remain in ignorant bliss. If we didn't have the technology we are blessed with, I suspect people would be more open to debates as it would be the only way to get information and other perspectives. People just don't want to hear it nowadays, unfortunately.

Miners used to keep caged canaries while mining coal. If the Canarie died, then the miners knew they'd opened up some sort of gas pocket and they needed to get out there quick to avoid suffocation. So the term Canarie in the Coal mine is used as a colloquialism to represent the idea of "a first sign of unfortunate events to come".

If she’s not ‘getting’ him on one issue she has to jump to something else. She thinks he’s bad and she wants viewers to agree with her. So if he is sounding reasonable, she has to move on to something else.

    Canary in the coal mine...
Back in the days when technology as we know it today was basically non-existing, it was hard to detect potential danger hundreds of meters under the ground. The greatest danger for miners are gasses. Some of them have no smell and are extremely toxic. That is why the miners carried a canary with them into the shaft and constantly kept one eye on the bird. If the canary suddenly fell to the bottom of the cage, someone would raise the alarm and all the miners were to evacuate ASAP!

  • @psychs6720
    @psychs6720 6 месяцев назад

Canary in the coalmine originates from the fact that coalminers used to bring canaries in cages on the job back in the day because of how fragile they are. If they suddenly dropped dead while in the mine, it was good evidence the mine was dangerous in some way, as in lack of oxygen, too much radiation, etc and allowed the miners to escape because the death of the canary warned them

The bird would be affected by poisonous gasses first, which would give the miners time to get out before succumbing. I always felt bad for the birds.

Some women don’t understand virtually all men have an understand of the hierarchy of violence amongst other men. It’s what keeps us controlled. As a man I know I can’t just go up to another man and just start acting any way, because there is a change that man will react back violently. It’s not fear it’s an unspoken respect men have with each other and we all know that what ever we say can have consequences and so good men act right knowing that if they do not they may be put into place.

I'm not very familiar with this international political scenario, especially when it comes to political figures, so I can only speak based on my general knowledge. From what I gathered, this Jordan Peterson is a figure from the far-right and some might say he holds misogynistic views. As for this woman, whom I wasn't familiar with either, she seems to be a left-wing journalist.
The issue here, as far as I can see, is that both individuals in the interview display extreme hostility. Even though Jordan Peterson may be eloquent and composed, his words also carry hostility. This isn't a value judgment, just an observation.
But the central point of this whole story, ultimately, from what I can understand, revolves around a society where historically, men have oppressed women through aggressive actions, whether physical or psychological. Anyone who disagrees with this is either living in a different reality or has ill intentions. The numbers, the data, don't lie.
Is it not true that there's a significant occurrence of domestic violence cases against women? The statistics consistently reveal alarming rates of domestic abuse directed towards women, highlighting a deeply rooted societal issue that cannot be ignored. This violence perpetuates a cycle of fear and harm, affecting countless lives.
Is it not true that women in similar positions as men generally receive lower salaries? Gender pay disparities are indeed a stark reality. Numerous studies have demonstrated that women, on average, earn less than their male counterparts in comparable roles and with similar qualifications. This isn't merely an isolated phenomenon but a systemic bias that hinders women's economic empowerment.
Furthermore, the under representation of women in leadership roles and key decision-making positions across various industries showcases the persisting gender gap in opportunities and recognition. The glass ceiling remains a tangible barrier for women seeking equal professional growth.
In sum, the evidence is irrefutable: systemic sexism and misogyny are deeply ingrained in our society. To deny these realities is to perpetuate the very inequality that many are working to address and dismantle. These examples are indeed facts and demonstrate that there are significant issues stemming from the entrenched sexism within various structures of our society. It's one thing to point out potential exaggerations in reactions from left-leaning individuals, which can be valid. However, it's another matter entirely to claim that problems originating from sexism do not exist in our society.
Lastly, Alex, I used to be one of your fans, and I always enjoyed your content and your reactions to movies and series. But now, your political stance worries me. Are you aligning yourself with the extreme right-wing group of people who don't acknowledge sexism, racism, and misogyny as real problems? Do you think it's all just a fabrication of the left? Do you believe that everyone is "too sensitive" these days?
In the end... perhaps empathy is truly lacking; the ability to put oneself in the shoes of others seems to be increasingly rare and dismissed by some.

Alex, of course you’d be more likely to use words, you’ve studied to become a lawyer. Lawyers use words to fight. That doesn’t make you feminine. I myself tend to try to de escalate a confrontation with words first, and it has served me quite well. I’m not afraid of a physical confrontation though, but I’m also careful about that route. I’m built like you dude, so I’m not looking for a physical confrontation, but if that’s what it comes to, that’s what it is. You CAN have a balance of words and physicality, but you have to find the balance that is right for you.

This reminded me of when me and my friends were enjoying some dark humor among ourselves, one time we were making fun of the bald one and everyone was laughing including him, all of a sudden a young lady showed up to our table, all angry, gave us a speech how she was offended and we should be ashamed of ourselves making fun of bald people, she didnt even care about our friend or how he felt, she was just triggered on behalf of bald people and chose to disrupt our conversation to gave us a speech, made a scene. Its all about the attitude in my opinion, you can't just label and scream to people.. just discuss and leave peacefully, its not that hard honestly

I never wear make up in the office, why would I? Some women will say they wear make up for themselves. LIES. They wouldn't be wearing make up if they were the only person left in the world.

This problem now a days is they can’t have debates like this woman can’t. This is an interrogation and emotional responses based on what she has been programmed to believe based on nothing but delusion and emotional responses. They can’t cope with facts or anything that doesn’t fully agree with what they believe

Her questions are pre-planned and have a certain agenda in mind. She is looking for something to use against Dr.Peterson. Her statement "I am not interviewing the clinical literature, I am interviewing you." Tells me that she doesn't want facts or the truth of the science, she wants ammunition against him. Which is why all of her questions are pointed and mostly opinionated. She is looking for a certain type of response to use as entrapment.

I can't believe they even posted this video of a woman coursing/badgering a man into saying something they can spin into click bait. She has absolutely no interest in what he has to say...what a bad interviewer. She's constantly cutting him off and trying her best to corner him. She said she was there to "interview HIM" yet she asks about everything but HIM lol. She keeps asking questions but doesn't let him finish his response. You are supposed to ask a question and save your rebuttal for after the person your interviewing answers the damn question.

Jordan's point on workplace restrictions is huge and a real shame that it got brushed aside.
People naturally find others attractive, attractive people tend to get more attention and advances from the opposite gender, how do we regulate that?
Men tend to be uniform, we wear shirt, tie and long pants, largely the same. A woman can wear a variety of things that would be seen as dressed nicely, including low cut tops that show a little more chest, skirts that show leg, and high heals that pop out the posterior. All of which is appropriate for work. Add make-up to appear more youthful and, intentionally or not, they will invite more eyeballs and attention, and it's hard to just call it men's fault, this is exploiting deep rooted, biological base desires. I do not condone or deny the inappropriate actions of certain men. It's just common knowledge that men are very sensitive to visual cues surrounding women, if a breast is slightly exposed, we notice.
Women might say it's their choice and for men to keep it in their pants, maybe. If a man came in to work with the top buttons undone giving a sneak peak at his pecks, tighter pants showing the curvature of his rear and bulge, I'm certain you would say that he is dressed inappropriately and that the workplace is for work, not to mingle or to swoon the ladies.
I hope this example makes sense, and underlines the complexity of the issue. Humans are animals that want to have sex with each other, so how do we put Men and Women in a room together and regulate their behavior above base biological desires without becoming a tyranny?
    No Idea

The problem with him is that he looks at a pattern, and work from the assumption that the pattern and differences are based inherently in nature, and disregard nurture and systematic cultural pressures. There are plenty of studies that show how people treat kids differently based on what gender they believe they are as opposed to what they are. What is doesn’t always have to be.
