Most people can actually become competent at almost any skill within a couple of weeks, and there`s the fact that this video is highly edited, so you don`t know how many fails and setbacks he experienced along the way... I`m not throwing shade at the dude, I`m just pointing out how much effort his throws into this stuff... Also, hail google, you can find instructions for just bout anythint your crazy little mind wants to do.
You forgot to mention his video editing skills. There is a new clip with perfect sharp pictures from the perfect angle almost every 2nd second. Editing video like this is ridiculously time consuming.

Potato starch is the easiest. Every time I cut and soak potatoes in water, a little starch accumulates in the bottom. I save that little amount each time. Now I have a jar full of starch!
The cinematic experience was amazing. The mannequin, the dolls all of it was truly extraordinary. How the mannequin didn’t eat the candies you you spent all your time on it was just so sad but then how you continued to make the knife to kill her with it and the shaky hands and all of it it was just so so I don’t even have words to describe what I felt during this video. I just love the fact that while he could go out and buy pure starch or sugar he takes the time to make them himself and show us the process and how slight variations can have such different outcomes. This is the most interested in chemistry I have ever been and that is such a cool thing to be able to say about a video where a man with a grudge against cucumbers makes a knife out of candy.
