Highlights of the 2024 AFS Global STEM Academy in Houston, TX!

This July, AFS-USA welcomed 27 exceptional high school scholars from 12 countries to the 2024 AFS Global STEM Academy in Houston, Texas for an unforgettable 4 weeks. During the program, students attended daily classes, collaborated on a Virtual Reality project, and participated in various on and off-campus activities that enriched their understanding of local culture and showcased how STEM skills are applied in the real world to address industrial and societal challenges around sustainability. These activities included: a visit to bp's headquarters, an interactive day long experience at NASA Johnson Space Center, and advanced STEM and Sustainability Labs led by professors from the University of Houston's Cullen College of Engineering, among many others. We are confident that this outstanding cohort of young adults will become changemakers in their communities and work towards creating a more positive, peaceful, and sustainable future for all!
