The in-game happiness leeches from you real life happiness. That's why when you hit 90+ happiness in-game it increases slower since there's so little happiness left in you after waiting for so long.
Yeah, you need to wait 10-15 mins real life. I did 15 mins every time to be safe. So definitely have something else to do while you're doing this achievement.
Currently doing this achievement , I'm in the waiting phase with 94 Happiness and using: 6 settlers (all generic settlers with no name) 6 food (6 mutfruits) 6 water (2 water pumps) 7 beds 123 defense 5 of the settlers are working in level 3 bars and 1 one of them is taking care of the mutfruits EDIT: after about 6 hours of afk and constantly sleeping, I just managed to get the happiness meter from 60 to 100, I wish luck and patience for everybody doing this challenge and I hope my notes are in some way useful for anyone trying this ; )
Method works as of August 2023, I used hangman’s alley. Purified water in the workshop isn’t necessary, as long as you have a water pump. Once all necessities are built, food in workshop, and settler is assigned to the bar do this: 1. Start day at 8AM (in game time) 2. Wait 12 (real life) minutes, happiness should go up. 3. After the 12 minutes, it should be noon (in game time) 4. Sleep 20 hours to wake up at 8AM (in game time) the following day 5. Repeat until you get the trophy Hope this helps.
I figured out an easier way to do this, do what he tells you to do but when the happiness goes up sleep for 24hr instead of 10 hr and you can get it within 30 minutes. Your welcome
For the record, you don't have to do all of the waiting/sleeping. I set up Hangman's Alley with this method and then went and played the game. I was out on one of Preston's relentless side quests when Benevolent Leader popped. I did encounter a random gunner attack when I returned once to make sure I'd left enough food/water. I just dropped a second turret and haven't been back since.
This worked. I can't believe it fucking worked. Thanks to this technique, the happiest place in the commonwealth has one person working a bar, one person sleeping and 15 statues of lions and baseball men. And 30 bobble head statues. Thank you.
Worked like a charm for me but a tip for anyone else doing this you can go out and do quest you don't have to wait at the settlement I decided to take the time I was waiting and collect all the bobble heads but thanks again subscribed and liked

I know I am late. I did exactly what he said in this video BUT instead of spamming the settlement with wooden boxes, I spammed it with weight benches. I also slept for 24h, and then immediately waited on a chair for 24 hours before I opened the build menu to wait until the value has increased each time. It took me a total of 22 minutes to go from 60 happiness to 100. Hope this helps
It works for me! July 2023. I used the same setup as the video, only instead of the purified water I built 2 water pumps and it worked just fine. This was my strategy: 1. Idle for about 15 minutes IRL 2. Sleep for 24 hours. 3. Idle for about 10 minutes IRL until the happiness level go up. If it doesn't go up, sleep for 12 hours and wait for another 10 minutes IRL, this only happened to me like 2 times. 4. Sleep for 24 hours. 5. Repeat step 1. It took me about two Game of Thrones episodes to complete this achievement lmao. Please do something else while grinding, because it's very very tedious.
Every gamers platinum hunt starts with the question "Can I get all trophies?" Once they realise it seems doable they start. And then you come across a piece of fuking hepatitis B like this choppy shit of a trophy. Never have I been so frustrated in trying to figure this shit out. Confirmed working 25. 2. 2018 Red Rocket: 1 settler 2 beds 10 defense 40 Multifruit 40 Purified Water I've started at 50 and let the settlement be. I've been doing quest, explore, etc. and after it reached 90 happiness, I went there and started: 12 hrs sleep -> wait 10 mins irl -> wait 8 hrs in-game (chair) -> wait around 3 minutes, till happiness go up -> 12 hrs sleep and repeat. It was something like 2 hours process irl.... incredibly stupid achievement!!
With the wasteland DLC this can be accelerated significantly by caging and taming cats and gorillas which boost happiness while draining no resources. Useful to do if you want the trapper and docile achievements as well. (Requires charisma 9, wasteland whisperer 1 and animal friend 1 to build the required beta wave emitter)
You don't even have to be there and sleep. You can just go about your own business and do what ever other missions you have to take care off. I followed this video, but decided to run around finding all 20 bobbleheads. And while doing so, this settlement just went to 100 by it self. That being said I went back to check every once in a while, but honestly don't tink it's necessary to do so. How long it took I don't really know, but it doen't matter, when I had things to do in the meantime.

Jane Phoenix Definitely a big help do his set up only thing i would do is go off finish collecting bobble heads complete some quest & u will see slowly the % go up but do go back & check spot every now & then thats it platinumed a few weeks ago.
I've just got it :) took me about 20 minutes from 97% after sending everyone back to Sanctuary Hills. I ran out of food, luckily had a couple of random bits in my inventory, did a speed run back to Sanctuary to pick some supplies up for Red Rocket and before I went back, the trophy popped up! Looks like I'm finally going to get my first ever platinum 😊 . This is the best guide I've found

This worked great for me! I have been having a tough time with this achievement and this walk through was perfect. I did it with 2 settlers, one on a level 3 Bar and another tending to Mutfruit. Honestly, doing minute men missions seemed to boost up my happiness rather than waiting. Every 2 quests completed I'd go up 1-2%. I'd then go sleep for 24 hours, spend a few minutes in the workshop then set out again. Other than that, a great tutorial!
Excellent guide. I used Red Rocket as well for this achievement. Honestly, the most important things are: - Make sure to clear all the crap and make build crates so the size of the settlement is to the max. - 2 beds/sleeping bags - 1 for you to sleep in and one for the settler. - Assign the settler to a level 2 or 3 (3 is better) Bar. - I ran back and forth from Sanctuary to bring at least 20 Purified Waters and 10 food (either Mutfruit or the others are ok, just keep in mind you need 20 of the other crops). Once you have that, just sleep for 24 hours and then leave in on idle. periodically check the happiness- it should go up. If after 30 mins of real time it doesn't go up- check the food & water levels. if they are ok, sleep again. And repeat. it takes a while but I was patient since that was the last one for me to get. Good luck!
THANK YOU SO MUCH. I actually spent around 12-18 hours trying to get this trophy. I first tried Sanctuary, I was at 96 there but then went down to 88 for no reason at all, so I tried some other methods out there. I went to Red Rocket with 6 settlers, that did the same thing, Tempines Bluff, same thing, so I reverted my save file and found this video. I probably watched this video about 8 times to gather all the information and make sure I did nothing wrong. I did this on PS4, Red Rocket Truck Stop, 1 settler exactly as said, and it worked beautifully ( Around 3 hours it took, however, the last 5% took an hour alone.. ) To anyone watching that is still struggling, you WILL get it if you follow all the steps in the video. Just make sure you have plenty of Mutfruit and Purified Water BEFORE you start the process, else the arrow will turn red after not having enough resources. THANK YOU THANK YOU, I just need to get the bobbleheads and I will have platinum.

YES!!!!!! I can confirm this works in 2024!!!! My variables: settler was a ghoul, I decorated around with NON ELECTRICAL lights, had a radio tuned into Diamond City, had Curie as the follower and bought beer (and drank), from my settler. Ah, I also placed a water Pump and dropped a freaking buffet in the workshop lol I'm talking institute food and soups lol
Confirmed. Worked for me on Xbox One, took a lot of hours and the cheevo popped when I was away from Red Rocket! 👏 I waited on sight for a couple of rises but after maybe 90% went away and did other quests. This setup basically runs on it's own! 👌🎉

I was stuck at 96 happiness in Sanctuary for a stupidly long time. Instead of starting over, I got the trophy by doing what you did, I added an extra bar and put food and water into my workshop. Thats genius, thanks.

This worked for me, too! Thanks for putting it together. It took me 4.5 hours to get to 100% and I started at 60% at the RR. I took some advice from some people in the comments section and gave my one inhabitant a ton of chems and some of my best weapons. I also wore all charisma+ gear. Not sure if it helped, but that's how I was able to get this trophy on the PS4
If the up arrow on happyness dissappears just build a clinic lvl3 and assign him to it. 1 or 2 mins later the arrow will appear again. Worked a few times for me. Thanks for the guide

Best method out there. Tried for 3 days with other settlements and finally this worked. Started from a zero settlement at 40 happiness and eventually got to 100. If you get stuck on 80 talk to the vendor.

Hello I’m from the future. I followed everything the vid mentioned and put a crap ton of crops in my work shop. Used only one turret. I got attacked by super mutants once and surprisingly the happiness stayed up. The happiness went up quickly from 80 to 93 then it increased painfully slow afterwards. The whole process took me about 3 hours. I would sleep 15 hours then stay at the settlement for 10 mins(real time) then fast travel (OUTSIDE OF THE SETTLEMENT NOT IN) somewhere else to do a quest. It would go up by one then I’d return and repeat the process. I just got the trophy too🥳

Do what he said guys Then repeat this process you should start out at 80% if you done it correctly you'll go up in 4% until 90 then 2% to 95 and from there 1% keep staying in build mode for 10 mins, then sleep for 12 hours rinse and repeat
It took me four hours on PS4 using the exact same steps, thank god for season 2 of Mindhunter on Netflix. I originally started Fallout 4 back when it launched but never pushed for platinum, I want to play with mods so that means getting the last of the trophies out of the way. Thanks Doc!

Thank you very much, I spent 3 actual days in Sanctuary Hills trying to get this achievement , I got it to 100% mark twice this morning but with a red arrow pointing down so it didn't unlock the achievement, you can imagine how irritated I'd be, then I decided to ditch SHs and go for your tutorial, it took me like 5 hours (maybe because I'm level 71?) but I did it, finally, thank you again.
Great guide, helped a lot in this needlessly difficult trophy but I needed to make some changes. I went to my main settlement and grabbed materials to make heavy turrets and went crazy with the defense, had it over 100 since super mutants came and messed everything up at one point and I just couldn't get the idiot settler to be happy again and had to reload. I also slept for longer than you mentioned in your video, 24 hours each time, doing this I noticed a difference in how fast and how often I got the jump in happiness.
This worked for me April 2021 got the Platinum Trophy took about 3 hours something funny happened half way through I wasn’t paying attention and I noticed my settler was in my power armor fighting off raiders lol
With all the sleeping that's required, I think your characters (continued) presence at the settlement is what creates this additional happiness. There have been many times that I've left a settlement for one day and its happiness dropped several points. But after spending a few hours there (sleeping, not building or beautifying the camp) its happiness began rising again. Just something I noticed... Anybody else notice this?
Hey man followed your guide for benevolent leader, works well, I did it at outpost zimonja but I found sleeping for 12 hours and then waiting for 12 hours you only had to wait a minute or two before repeating. Great job!
Worked an absolute treat and less than an hour! What I did though was put up loads of paintings and build a few statues, think it help boosted the happiness, never dropped. Also I put 1 water pump
Update: I am new to the fallout series and PS4 gaming in general. Just wanted to say thank you for this hint. And a side note, as of April 15th, 2019, the world isn't destroyed and this hint still works. This was my final achievement needed for my first Platinum Trophy. Cait, my romantic other, was my single settler at Coastal Cottage. One bar, food, bed, turret, and all the toolboxes and wooden crates until I went yellow. 24 hour rotations, with the rematic embrace enhance had me go from 79 happy to 100 in 8 game days, 9 saves, 19 mins of downtime after my settlement went yellow size wise. Thank you again for this secret hint. Game on my friends, game on.

the meter started at 80, i basically left my game running while i did chores, eat, watched a movie, all with ocassional checks and sleeping in the game, it took about 7 hours but i finally got it, so thank you! but yes. i highly recommend you go do other things while waiting and just check every 20 min or so and sleep

SLEEP FOR 24 HRS EVERYTIME IT GOES UP. I started cookin spaghetti and kept sleeping for 24 hrs each time it went up. No word of a lie my achievement popped seconds after wiping the sauce off my mouth. Worked in under 1hr

This happened to me and i thought that was a red flag. I had 2 settlers, one on food and the other in a bar. Had heaps of food in the workshop so moved the one guy collecting food to another base and the arrow came back

You probably brought your one settler there too early. I had the same thign happen, sent the settler away and then brought them back, it went right up to 80.

I literally just followed most of the instruction and IT WORKED! I used Egret Marina area. Instead of lvl 2, I did lvl 3 bar... because I could. Took me about a little under 2 hours to complete. Another thing I did, IDK if it's necessary, was I wore charisma items. I am now subscribing to the good doctor. Much thanks. I've been trying for over 2 real time days. At Red Rocket I have 5 farmers, 22 Lvl 3 shops and cant get over 98 happiness. So glad I found this aid.

I've followed all the directions but when I place my settler in my settlement and into the bar. My happiness doesn't go to 80 it starts off at 60. Any suggestions?
Try and move your settler away and send another one. As long as you have the one turret set up and enough supplies in your station, it should just start at 80 happiness. Hope this helps!
Me too; started off at 60 - sent the settler away and picked another un-named settler from another city and whoopie doo happiness skipped right up to 68. Saved me some time atleast I imagine. Now only the rest of the waiting... gah... the things we do for those 100% ;)
I finally got this after starting after starting a settlement build play, my character is only a level 8, I did the one person at the Red Rocket, but not being high level enough I gave them a weight bench, Palma horse, and a shooting rage, got the a award within half a game day
Guys this works, took about 3 hours. Some tips to make this not as horrible as it seems. Try to do this while having other achievements you're trying to get. For instance, set up everything in the video, but instead of sleeping and waiting, do that till you get to high 80% or 90%(takes max 5 min). After that go do some missions, find bobbleheads, and whatnot. The percentage will go up in the background; however, make sure to periodically go back to check if the food ran out: if so make sure to replenish. Edit: Why you should do the sleeping thing after high 80 or 90 is it takes REALLY long.
This worked thank you. I did what some of the other commenters did and just played the game as normal once everything was set up. That way I didn't have to sleep over and over.

am over 2 1/2 hours sleeping every 15 mins after reaching 95 and it's still not moved one bit grrr

I've started at 50 and let the settlement be. I've been doing quest, explore, etc. and after it reached 90 happiness, I went there and started:
12 hrs sleep -> wait 10 mins irl -> wait 8 hrs in-game (chair) -> wait around 3 minutes, till happiness go up -> 12 hrs sleep and repeat.
It was something like 2 hours process irl.... incredibly stupid achievement!!
With the wasteland DLC this can be accelerated significantly by caging and taming cats and gorillas which boost happiness while draining no resources. Useful to do if you want the trapper and docile achievements as well. (Requires charisma 9, wasteland whisperer 1 and animal friend 1 to build the required beta wave emitter)
You don't even have to be there and sleep. You can just go about your own business and do what ever other missions you have to take care off.
I followed this video, but decided to run around finding all 20 bobbleheads. And while doing so, this settlement just went to 100 by it self. That being said I went back to check every once in a while, but honestly don't tink it's necessary to do so. How long it took I don't really know, but it doen't matter, when I had things to do in the meantime.

Jane Phoenix Definitely a big help do his set up only thing i would do is go off finish collecting bobble heads complete some quest & u will see slowly the % go up but do go back & check spot every now & then thats it platinumed a few weeks ago.

I've just got it :) took me about 20 minutes from 97% after sending everyone back to Sanctuary Hills. I ran out of food, luckily had a couple of random bits in my inventory, did a speed run back to Sanctuary to pick some supplies up for Red Rocket and before I went back, the trophy popped up! Looks like I'm finally going to get my first ever platinum 😊 . This is the best guide I've found

This worked great for me! I have been having a tough time with this achievement and this walk through was perfect. I did it with 2 settlers, one on a level 3 Bar and another tending to Mutfruit.
Honestly, doing minute men missions seemed to boost up my happiness rather than waiting. Every 2 quests completed I'd go up 1-2%. I'd then go sleep for 24 hours, spend a few minutes in the workshop then set out again.
Other than that, a great tutorial!
Excellent guide. I used Red Rocket as well for this achievement. Honestly, the most important things are:
- Make sure to clear all the crap and make build crates so the size of the settlement is to the max.
- 2 beds/sleeping bags - 1 for you to sleep in and one for the settler.
- Assign the settler to a level 2 or 3 (3 is better) Bar.
- I ran back and forth from Sanctuary to bring at least 20 Purified Waters and 10 food (either Mutfruit or the others are ok, just keep in mind you need 20 of the other crops).
Once you have that, just sleep for 24 hours and then leave in on idle. periodically check the happiness- it should go up.
If after 30 mins of real time it doesn't go up- check the food & water levels. if they are ok, sleep again.
And repeat. it takes a while but I was patient since that was the last one for me to get.

THANK YOU SO MUCH. I actually spent around 12-18 hours trying to get this trophy. I first tried Sanctuary, I was at 96 there but then went down to 88 for no reason at all, so I tried some other methods out there. I went to Red Rocket with 6 settlers, that did the same thing, Tempines Bluff, same thing, so I reverted my save file and found this video. I probably watched this video about 8 times to gather all the information and make sure I did nothing wrong.
I did this on PS4, Red Rocket Truck Stop, 1 settler exactly as said, and it worked beautifully ( Around 3 hours it took, however, the last 5% took an hour alone.. )
To anyone watching that is still struggling, you WILL get it if you follow all the steps in the video. Just make sure you have plenty of Mutfruit and Purified Water BEFORE you start the process, else the arrow will turn red after not having enough resources.

My variables: settler was a ghoul, I decorated around with NON ELECTRICAL lights, had a radio tuned into Diamond City, had Curie as the follower and bought beer (and drank), from my settler.
Ah, I also placed a water Pump and dropped a freaking buffet in the workshop lol I'm talking institute food and soups lol

Confirmed. Worked for me on Xbox One, took a lot of hours and the cheevo popped when I was away from Red Rocket! 👏 I waited on sight for a couple of rises but after maybe 90% went away and did other quests. This setup basically runs on it's own! 👌🎉

I was stuck at 96 happiness in Sanctuary for a stupidly long time. Instead of starting over, I got the trophy by doing what you did, I added an extra bar and put food and water into my workshop. Thats genius, thanks.

This worked for me, too! Thanks for putting it together. It took me 4.5 hours to get to 100% and I started at 60% at the RR. I took some advice from some people in the comments section and gave my one inhabitant a ton of chems and some of my best weapons. I also wore all charisma+ gear. Not sure if it helped, but that's how I was able to get this trophy on the PS4
If the up arrow on happyness dissappears just build a clinic lvl3 and assign him to it. 1 or 2 mins later the arrow will appear again. Worked a few times for me. Thanks for the guide

Best method out there. Tried for 3 days with other settlements and finally this worked. Started from a zero settlement at 40 happiness and eventually got to 100. If you get stuck on 80 talk to the vendor.

Hello I’m from the future. I followed everything the vid mentioned and put a crap ton of crops in my work shop. Used only one turret. I got attacked by super mutants once and surprisingly the happiness stayed up. The happiness went up quickly from 80 to 93 then it increased painfully slow afterwards. The whole process took me about 3 hours. I would sleep 15 hours then stay at the settlement for 10 mins(real time) then fast travel (OUTSIDE OF THE SETTLEMENT NOT IN) somewhere else to do a quest. It would go up by one then I’d return and repeat the process. I just got the trophy too🥳

you should start out at 80% if you done it correctly
you'll go up in 4% until 90 then 2% to 95 and from there 1%
keep staying in build mode for 10 mins, then sleep for 12 hours rinse and repeat
It took me four hours on PS4 using the exact same steps, thank god for season 2 of Mindhunter on Netflix. I originally started Fallout 4 back when it launched but never pushed for platinum, I want to play with mods so that means getting the last of the trophies out of the way. Thanks Doc!

Try doing jet with Hancock and go to the shooting range with Macready then proceed to zone the fuck out on med-x and bam, achievement got.

Thank you very much, I spent 3 actual days in Sanctuary Hills trying to get this achievement , I got it to 100% mark twice this morning but with a red arrow pointing down so it didn't unlock the achievement, you can imagine how irritated I'd be, then I decided to ditch SHs and go for your tutorial, it took me like 5 hours (maybe because I'm level 71?) but I did it, finally, thank you again.

Great guide, helped a lot in this needlessly difficult trophy but I needed to make some changes. I went to my main settlement and grabbed materials to make heavy turrets and went crazy with the defense, had it over 100 since super mutants came and messed everything up at one point and I just couldn't get the idiot settler to be happy again and had to reload. I also slept for longer than you mentioned in your video, 24 hours each time, doing this I noticed a difference in how fast and how often I got the jump in happiness.
This worked for me April 2021 got the Platinum Trophy took about 3 hours something funny happened half way through I wasn’t paying attention and I noticed my settler was in my power armor fighting off raiders lol
With all the sleeping that's required, I think your characters (continued) presence at the settlement is what creates this additional happiness. There have been many times that I've left a settlement for one day and its happiness dropped several points. But after spending a few hours there (sleeping, not building or beautifying the camp) its happiness began rising again. Just something I noticed...

Hey man followed your guide for benevolent leader, works well, I did it at outpost zimonja but I found sleeping for 12 hours and then waiting for 12 hours you only had to wait a minute or two before repeating. Great job!

Worked an absolute treat and less than an hour! What I did though was put up loads of paintings and build a few statues, think it help boosted the happiness, never dropped. Also I put 1 water pump

Update: I am new to the fallout series and PS4 gaming in general. Just wanted to say thank you for this hint. And a side note, as of April 15th, 2019, the world isn't destroyed and this hint still works. This was my final achievement needed for my first Platinum Trophy. Cait, my romantic other, was my single settler at Coastal Cottage. One bar, food, bed, turret, and all the toolboxes and wooden crates until I went yellow. 24 hour rotations, with the rematic embrace enhance had me go from 79 happy to 100 in 8 game days, 9 saves, 19 mins of downtime after my settlement went yellow size wise. Thank you again for this secret hint. Game on my friends, game on.

the meter started at 80, i basically left my game running while i did chores, eat, watched a movie, all with ocassional checks and sleeping in the game, it took about 7 hours but i finally got it, so thank you! but yes. i highly recommend you go do other things while waiting and just check every 20 min or so and sleep

@@mathmols8835 it worked. It took me a little over 2 hours. I read someone say in a comment that it's faster if you sleep for 24 hours instead of 12 so that's what I did but I don't know if that made anything any faster.

SLEEP FOR 24 HRS EVERYTIME IT GOES UP. I started cookin spaghetti and kept sleeping for 24 hrs each time it went up. No word of a lie my achievement popped seconds after wiping the sauce off my mouth. Worked in under 1hr
So, you actually don't plant mutfruit or make water pumps? You leave the water and mutfruit in the workshop? Your end result should be 1 People, 0 Food, 0 Water, 0 Power, 5 Defense, 2 Beds?

This happened to me and i thought that was a red flag. I had 2 settlers, one on food and the other in a bar. Had heaps of food in the workshop so moved the one guy collecting food to another base and the arrow came back

You probably brought your one settler there too early. I had the same thign happen, sent the settler away and then brought them back, it went right up to 80.

I literally just followed most of the instruction and IT WORKED! I used Egret Marina area. Instead of lvl 2, I did lvl 3 bar... because I could. Took me about a little under 2 hours to complete. Another thing I did, IDK if it's necessary, was I wore charisma items. I am now subscribing to the good doctor. Much thanks. I've been trying for over 2 real time days. At Red Rocket I have 5 farmers, 22 Lvl 3 shops and cant get over 98 happiness. So glad I found this aid.

I've followed all the directions but when I place my settler in my settlement and into the bar. My happiness doesn't go to 80 it starts off at 60. Any suggestions?
Try and move your settler away and send another one. As long as you have the one turret set up and enough supplies in your station, it should just start at 80 happiness. Hope this helps!

Me too; started off at 60 - sent the settler away and picked another un-named settler from another city and whoopie doo happiness skipped right up to 68. Saved me some time atleast I imagine. Now only the rest of the waiting... gah... the things we do for those 100% ;)

I finally got this after starting after starting a settlement build play, my character is only a level 8, I did the one person at the Red Rocket, but not being high level enough I gave them a weight bench, Palma horse, and a shooting rage, got the a award within half a game day

Guys this works, took about 3 hours.
Some tips to make this not as horrible as it seems. Try to do this while having other achievements you're trying to get. For instance, set up everything in the video, but instead of sleeping and waiting, do that till you get to high 80% or 90%(takes max 5 min). After that go do some missions, find bobbleheads, and whatnot. The percentage will go up in the background; however, make sure to periodically go back to check if the food ran out: if so make sure to replenish.
Edit: Why you should do the sleeping thing after high 80 or 90 is it takes REALLY long.
This worked thank you. I did what some of the other commenters did and just played the game as normal once everything was set up. That way I didn't have to sleep over and over.
