What a way to cap off the month. I was just cleaning up from dinner when I figured I would take some quiet time to hear what you had to say at the end of your marathon vlogs. I was grateful that I got to watch most of these clips - I had family, disc dyeing, and Christmas to consider, and I attempt to not make You-Tube a vice. You have passed out a lot of wisdom over the past month, and I think today was a great sum up of everything you have been working on for the past little while. Do I agree with every suggestion you made today? No. I think there was at least one that I rolled my eyes at, but we can talk about that when we meet up for a round. I think you missed one though-not sure how to word it, but it would go something along the lines of “if you see someone playing alone, invite them to join your group” or “if you are playing alone and come across a small group, ask if they would let you join them”. I like to play at as many courses as possible and I always appreciate it when someone offers to let me join them. Playing with strangers in a different part of the country or world helps me understand what that particular neighbourhood/community/county/state/province has going on. I usually give them a disc to thank them for being an ambassador to their course. Anyway, happy new year Pete, may it bring you joy and love. PS I have played several rounds with an Old Guy (yes another OG that is probably only 5 years my senior). He has been around a while and done it all. His favourite disc golf saying is, “Scores ruined disc golf”.
I like the idea of budgeting for practice over prestige! You mention the net... that's something I've been considering. Do you have any particular tips for how to use a net? I would love to do the net + TechDisc combo, but that would probably take a bit more budgeting/time.
I understand the TechDisc is an expensive investment, and that's why I borrowed one from Robbie C. One work around option... If you can get access to a Disc Golf store or somebody else who has one and a net. You could do some test throws with the Techdisc to find out the optimal spot on the net to be aiming your drives. Then measure the distance between yourself and the net and how high up to hit the net at the store, and then recreate the same distance/height/angle on your net at home to practice hitting that spot. Otherwise, I would set up the net and video yourself and work on your timing throwing into the net... so that you can consistently hit a specific target on the net smoothly. Think of it like practicing on a backboard in tennis... you are using it to put in reps and build consistency. Hope that helps
God Bless You Pete..perspective, God , family, others, self
Thank you my friend!
