Unfortunately, a lot of doctors don't know about, and/or mention these type of lenses. I can't wear regular soft contacts and during my years of wearing glasses no Doctor ever told me about these. Thank you for the video.

Just today, I was recommended scleral lenses for corneal scarring and dry eyes, seeing a new doctor after 3 years with an optometrist who was... "not great" is an understatement. He pointed out that I have corneal scarring (something I already knew) but gave no options on what to do. He discovered I had macular degeneration in 2020 but gave ZERO explanation what that is or what I can do to take care of it. I had to do all of my own research into these things and try stuff on my own. Last year, I told him my main concern was struggling to read the computer for my job; he gave me glasses where I can't see ANYTHING closer than 4 feet, and when I told him this is NOT helpful, he basically went "oh well, the insurance won't cover a 2nd pair, oh and I'm closing up shop, bye!" He closed down, I couldn't get new glasses that actually work for reading, and I had to wait until 2023 for my insurance to cover another visit. In the meantime, I've been cranking my screen size to 400% just to read emails and write reports! (Stupid American health care system!)
My new doctor was so kind, explained everything, showed me images of what the macular degeneration looks like, what the scars look like, explained what they do to my vision (something no other doctor bothered to explain in the 15 years since I learned I had this, I didn't even know why my vision has "blur lines") and she explained why the scleral lenses may help with all sort of issues I've had for most of my life. I had never heard of them, no other doctor bothered to address the scarring issue.
I have an appointment next Monday for a fitting, so I'm doing my due diligence researching what I can so I know what to expect.
    Thank you for this video.

@@Priyan0000 It took many refittings to get the lenses perfect, but my optometrist was determined to get them right. She was very attentive to even the slightest discomfort, until finally in late April, we got a pair that was exactly the right shape. I love them. They're definitely something to get used to, but no more dry eyes, no more shadows from the corneal scars, no more headaches from wearing glasses that push on fibromyalgia points around my ears, and best of all, I can cut onions without tears. That was an unexpected but wonderful bonus! 😁

Scleral lenses are also very good for those with Graft Versus Host Disease (GVHD.) I should know because i have GVHD and i have severe dry eye. I wear scleral lenses since a couple of months now and i couldn't be happier! I have no more discomfort! My headaches are gone, my pain is gone, light sensitivity is gone, all in all Scleral lenses helped me a lot and even though i have other pain and discomforts, at least my eyes are now not in pain anymore. And i can see much more clear now. Seriously, if you have dry eye and tried everything (fluids etc...) try talking to an ophthalmologist!
