After getting used to the higher quality loose leaf tea, seeing the dust pour out of the tea bag is mildly depressing. Look how they've massacred my boy!
If it helps, it’s not ground up good tea! It’s the literal dust and flakes from other higher quality tea practices, so it’s like the particle board of tea 😂
I really like your everyone is a friend and all are welcome attitude. You don't shame or look down on those that drink tea from tea bags. You might not like it but that is your taste. You don't want people to drink it because you want higher quality tea for them. You genuinely want them to have a better experience and think that higher quality tea is the way. I do think you are right in that aspect. You have no real hate or anger at anyone for the tea they drink you just want them to have better quality because you want them to have a good experience. I have no criticism of it just think that you should know that I enjoy you and your aduttude.
Just like anything you enjoy these days is "an underrated masterpiece" you're also "autistic" if you enjoy hobbies. The internet age is obsessed with diagnosing and labeling every behavior.
I did an herbal tea the other day. Put 3 bags in a small cup for a 30 second steap. Like one of the shot size little sipper cups. It was crazy bitter. Theres something going on here with surface area I think. SA doesn't double or tripped as you keep grinding something, it goes up exponentially.
@nunyabidnes6010 less water + more tea = stronger brew. this is the foundation of gaiwan brewing. you can still do this in mugs too, though seems like it was moreso an experiment than anything. also the video itself just said that tea bags hold less tea in them than expected
I think the water may have been too hot, treat herbal like you would a green or white tea, better yet, unless you like the heat I'd cold brew it. All the herbal teas I've had go bitter if brewed too hot, and sour if hot brewed and left to cool
You know what's even worse...the tea bag quality varies insanely through countries...US sells powder in bags especially if it comes to green tea...in some European countries you can find some bigger, spacer bags with actual leaves, or dried fruits and you have more access to lose leaf tea as well, then you go to southern/eastern Asia and you get pretty much any lose tea you wish for.
I'm really nervous to try some good tea(and spend the money to get started in case I don't like it), because I really don't like tea that we have here in the USA. I think the only kinds of tea I ever tried were the regular offerings of w/e tea people would serve at their house/restaurant, but usually unsweetened was disgusting and sweetened was okay, but usually it had to be sweetened a lot from what I remember for me to actually enjoy it (which seems "Cheating" to me)....I was a kid at this time too, it's been MANY years since I've tried any sort of tea. I assume it was some sort of Arizona ice tea or something. I don't like Coffee either, but haven't tried anything special like something homemade from beans directly, but I don't think I would enjoy it, but who knows. Would you say that high-quality tea would be way different? From how you describe it, it sounds like the teas are very sweet and provide really good flavors... I'm just not sure if there is an overall "tea taste," that is present, or what? I just REALLY respect Tea Culture, so after finding your videos and realizing how big it is in modern day (I read a lot of Asian Stories revolving around Tea as a quality/loved item. With this, I would love to come to enjoy the tea as well, but not sure if Tea is something I would enjoy. All the best to you, thank you for what you do.
Tea bag tea made me hate tea. You really got to mess with it a little by adding honey or sugar or milk. I've never had raw tea leaves so Idk if you need to add anything extra to improve its taste
Jesse do you sell replacement bamboo trays for the tea tray set and carry case? I may have left mine out while not fully dry and it warped unfortunately 😕

@Watoosi13 It's the ground beef of the tea world.
Got to get all the last bits...
It also most likely isn't from any "Good" tea though.
I know the subject of the video is tea quality but that timer/ stopwatch is awesome!
These are generally sold as coffee scales. Helps measure weight and brew time. All in one. Measures weight throughout the brew.
The timer I got on TikTok shop to help me not get distracted while working haha
I never knew red tea could be so good without sugar. I think I need to order some more Sister Ai.
Same!
In America, brewing British tea at that strength or stronger while adding a boatload of simple syrup is how the south got sweet tea.
In my mind drinking tea from teabags is akin to drinking instant coffee.

I enjoy both earl grey and qimen.
You gotta try some Oolong.
My favorite is mint... what kinda tea do you got that has that cool refreshing feeling

Have you ever tried an infusion from the flowers of a tea plant?
I love some good tea good thing I put in my first order the other day
Personally if im getting tea bags i look for the ones with loose leaf tea INSIDE the bag not just powder
Have you noticed that teabags in the UK have a much stronger liquor than the same brands in the USA?

For herbals i have no idea what to do - I assume it would depend on what the herb is
Why would you put so much herbal tea in such a small amount of water?

@@kaziered Thanks for the advice! I've had really good luck cold brewing herbal tea the few times I've tried it.

I don't know if this is correct but I find the bad itself also affects the taste of the tea.
Like ground beef that's mostly fat+ gristle vs a prime wagyu or local fresh meat 🤤
you got me. I subbed. Make more vids like this
I think, another contributing factor is the type of tea used as well, I've tried making Indian CTC tea gongfu style and it was so bitter
