Is there a way to enable screenshots in Gothic 2? Like in Settings or in some directory .ini document or something? What do I mean? You are an amateur. Not really professional, but that's good! Lees Story - he told you in Gothic 1 if you spoke to him in....i think chapter 4 or 5. He was the Kings most succesfull general but was blackmailed by some chancellor that feared that Lee would stand in his way of getting more power as Lee was loyal to the kingdom and couldnt be bribed so that shady dude killed the kings wife and managed to blame Lee for it - for his great deeds in the wars he wasnt executed for the murder but instead sent to the colony and he now hates the King because the king believed shady chancellor more than loyal Lee.
Yeah Lee even seeks revenge in Gothic 3 but I never found out what happend to him since I never completed the game (but had LOTS of attempts). In a way Gothic 3 is the older brother of The Witcher 3. Not bad games but just too redundant for my taste.
In the Arcania lore the Hero helps Lee kill the King, before going with Xardas to the Unknown Regions, Lee then takes over control of Vengard and Ardea before the Hero returns and becomes king Rhobar III. In the canon lore, it's unknown.
Nope. He is in fact grateful to the King for not executing him. After all, the evidence "proved" Lee guilty. Yet he still remembered Lee's loyalty and spared his life. The ones he hated were the nobles that framed him. It's why his sudden hatred for the king in g3 was so damn out of nowhere and makes no sense at all.
@@kopicat2429 Actually, he wanted to take his revange on king too. He said that in G2. Hell, Hagen is okay with pardoning Lee because he knows why he was send to Colony, meaning that while evidences spoke against Lee, many people didn't belived in them. King did, though.
You get a lot background story of Lee in Gothic 1. There's a book where he's mentioned as one of the generals and at one time he stands on the dam where he tells you how he got betrayed and how he landed into the colony.
years late but fck it The humans are loosing the war because 1 human does not = 1 orc ,the ore is important because the swords made from it dont break and can cut through their hide Lord Hagen sends you because if the town has no paladins the mercenaries take over ,dragons havent been seen in centuries.Also you were right to notice Xardas didnt revive you untill he heard about the dragons and that he could do it himself with the teleportations alone. He knows that he cant put on the eye of innos because he sold out to beliar for power. The king rly is an idiot tho the expedition has only a few paladins the rest are knights the paladins are sucking dick back at the mainland.Garond needs you to get the mining reports because in truth no one else can do it,he saw a chance and he took it. Diegos voice is hard to get used to,but its better this way really ((you didnt have to back track he would simply wait for you if you went into the dig sites)) thing about him is that he isnt a hero and he's proud of it lol

i was getting huge framedrops with fire and my cpu was almost 100% usage all the time when using those 2 mods (i5-6600k if you are wondering) i also ended up having invisible enemies sometimes but other than that the mod looks great but i went back to classic anyways
Gothic 1 inspired a lot of RPGs. And none can match up to it. Skyrim or Witcher? Lame. Skyrim only good for modding at best. A good game doesn't need that much modding to be good.

Well don t blame the game for your mistakes 1st never turn of gothic 1 controls [ the lateral blows are the way to go ] 2nd if you go mele choose one handed weapons for their speed , reaction and momentum are much more important than the +20 damage bonus for 2 handers 3rd level the f++k up [ logic ] PS it pains my heart to see the souls games ,elder shitscrools , witcher , mass effect get the praise for what gothic did a decade before
But the thing is in Poland Gothic was one of (if not the) most popular RPG for a while. It inspired White Hair hunter games. Even after Witcher 1 came out and overthrowed Gothic in Sales people still made tons of mods for this game (some of them added music from Witcher). The problem is that by making Gothic 1 people looked back at Ultima games, when they worked on Risen they looked at Fallout 3 and Bethesda... it really goes downhill there while Witcher actually improves with every next installment.
Risen was almost a carbon copy of Gothic, only with a duller story and a much better interface and control scheme. Risen 2 and 3 continued that influence only mixing in a lot from BioWare games for some reason. No Bethesda influence in anything PB.
Franciszek Rychlewicz Sure, but to say Risen took influence from Bethesda and Fallout 3 is just plain ridiculous. And I also thought the Witcher series peaked with the second one; the third was just a tedious overlong slog with some good production values.
There's actually multiple ways to get into the city, all which you will find exploring the world. That is something about this game I still remember and love.
That's the great thing about the german Gothic games, many important voice actors like Diego, Xardas, Lee etc. stay. And not just that, I also feel like they fit their characters more. I mean here Diego sounds like an annoying whimp while in the german version way more badass. Though comparing them wouldn't be fair as my nostalgia is connected with the german version

i know im kind of late but this series just popped up in my recomendations. the best thing about gothic is that there are usually a lot of ways to deal with problems. like getting into the city. yes, you could do farmwork to get farmers clothes and get in. you could also strike a deal with a merchant for a fervor he'll ask of you later. he would then give you a letter that grants access into the city. or an npc tells you that the local alchemist buys herbs from people and if you gather a bunch of them, you could convince the guards to let you in because they cant tell herbs from weeds, so you could pass as the alchemists assistant. the guards could also be bribed to let you in (if you managed to gather some coin early on) of course you could climb a section of the wall, move around the city to swim a bit into its harbour or get some mobs to chase you towards the city, so the guards are distracted fighting them.

Your intro reminded me just how well done the voice acting and script was for this game. Gothic 3s main con for me was all the changes from the original, most in part the voices. It KILLED the immersion.

Gothic 1 also does that if you go into the houses of the people they come after you as well until you leave or you stay long enough that they start attacking you.

Btw, Lord Hagen doesn't want to send more troops because the conflict with the mercenaries might escalate any moment and he wants any available man in town to secure the surrounding farms to secure his supplies.
If you took Diego with you to the drop point, where you first met, you would have gotten a "nostalgie bonus", 500 exp and Diego would make a comment about how you first met there. I think it's a pretty cool easter egg. Also i love the way the hero says "yeah... so i was" in a suspicious way, like he is wondering what the hell happened to Diego's voice.
If you find one of the many ways to get into Khroinis then Lares rewards you with XP for finding an innovative way of getting in. The game knows it has multiple ways to get into the city and it's amazing
I'd give my right leg for another gothic, risen kinda got that feeling but it wasn't enough, I hope they will make a remake, I'm really nostalgic about the Gothic glory days

On a side note, I think one reason why Xardas can't get a hold (in term of having it in his possession) of the artefact is because of what he is and that's why he needs the help from the unnamed hero - who is able to use it and keep it in his possession because of what he is.

Xardas is called the "Necromancer" in the english version :o? In the german he is called the "Dämonenbeschwörer" which translates to "Demon-Summoner". Also I remember that you get to Lee by turning right not left (19:30 +).You can't fool me >:D

It just occurred to me when you think about how many paladins arrived to Khorinis you'd think the first thing they would have done was go to Onar's farm, slaughter every single mercenary and clear out the valley of mines by themselves... with or without help of the town guards. There is a funny thing you can do when you play as Archer - the Dragons have a blind spot which they think you are in melee, but they cant hurt you with their breath. There you can just spam arrows at them.

One of the reasons a lot of people go into the military is for the educational opportunities serving provides, both while you are in and afterward with the GI Bill.
To understand the story, you have to know that there are two different kind of ore. The king needs the magic ore for runes and quality weapons. On the main land there is war against Orcs AND Varant, an other human empire. Only the extra magic energy of the ore can turn the war.
Just some smartassery: at 4:00, the first line you hear from Xardas is not actually the same line in the standard Gothic II. They made a new line for the addon as a type of in-joke about starting a new game with the addon after beating the original. Of course, with the Gold Edition there is no way you could know that unless you own an old hard copy.

Mass Effect more or less did it first because Bio Ware = Baldurs Gate...

Gothic 3s main con for me was all the changes from the original, most in part the voices. It KILLED the immersion.

Gothic 1 also does that if you go into the houses of the people they come after you as well until you leave or you stay long enough that they start attacking you.

Btw, Lord Hagen doesn't want to send more troops because the conflict with the mercenaries might escalate any moment and he wants any available man in town to secure the surrounding farms to secure his supplies.
If you took Diego with you to the drop point, where you first met, you would have gotten a "nostalgie bonus", 500 exp and Diego would make a comment about how you first met there. I think it's a pretty cool easter egg.
Also i love the way the hero says "yeah... so i was" in a suspicious way, like he is wondering what the hell happened to Diego's voice.
If you find one of the many ways to get into Khroinis then Lares rewards you with XP for finding an innovative way of getting in. The game knows it has multiple ways to get into the city and it's amazing

2 different game feels, and not directly comparable.
I'd give my right leg for another gothic, risen kinda got that feeling but it wasn't enough, I hope they will make a remake, I'm really nostalgic about the Gothic glory days

Great, I´m glad ur back bro, Thing is the real rpgs/arpgs old school players that know the "good stuff" knows that this is still a jewel in gaming... was the first in innovation in many aspects! and the old gothic series was great doing things the triple A rpgs today just replicate.

On a side note, I think one reason why Xardas can't get a hold (in term of having it in his possession) of the artefact is because of what he is and that's why he needs the help from the unnamed hero - who is able to use it and keep it in his possession because of what he is.

Xardas is called the "Necromancer" in the english version :o? In the german he is called the "Dämonenbeschwörer" which translates to "Demon-Summoner". Also I remember that you get to Lee by turning right not left (19:30 +).You can't fool me >:D

Flogged this game, played all factions multiple times and loved it every time. Superb game.
It just occurred to me when you think about how many paladins arrived to Khorinis you'd think the first thing they would have done was go to Onar's farm, slaughter every single mercenary and clear out the valley of mines by themselves... with or without help of the town guards.
We just gotta let some things slide tbh...

There is a funny thing you can do when you play as Archer - the Dragons have a blind spot which they think you are in melee, but they cant hurt you with their breath. There you can just spam arrows at them.

To understand the story, you have to know that there are two different kind of ore. The king needs the magic ore for runes and quality weapons. On the main land there is war against Orcs AND Varant, an other human empire. Only the extra magic energy of the ore can turn the war.
I was hoping Zardoz was in this game, but then my computer would explode from how awesome that would be. Zardoz needs a tower. Praise be to Zardoz.
Just some smartassery: at 4:00, the first line you hear from Xardas is not actually the same line in the standard Gothic II. They made a new line for the addon as a type of in-joke about starting a new game with the addon after beating the original. Of course, with the Gold Edition there is no way you could know that unless you own an old hard copy.
