The detailed explanation of each of the muscles that are involved in the movements of the knee helped me better understand what the specific movements of each muscle are.
It feels like I'm in the first semester of anatomy and physiology class. I feel like there is a never-ending talk about the muscles of the knee joint in every kinesiology course!
Watching the muscle action videos after the bony landmarks and joint actions always helps me because it is easier to understand what the muscles do after learning all the background information.
This video showed me how the knee joints work with the hip and pelvic girdle. The description of each muscle was also very in-depth and helpful for memorization.
The significance of the Q angle is fascinating, highlighting the considerable impact it holds. It's truly remarkable how physics influences our movement and its effectiveness.
Learning about the "Q angle" was so interesting! I knew that females traditionally are more affected by knee injuries, but it's cool to learn about why that might be true.
it's so interesting how big of an impact the Q angle has. It is incredible how much physics plays a role in our movement and the efficiency of that movement.
The Q angle is super neat; especially how women have a higher q angle because of their wider pelvis. The knee is structurally sound due to the ligaments; but because of this Q angle, we can put a lot of stress on those ligamentous structures. The hamstrings were also super fun to review! I like that Doctor G mentioned that we don’t want to over strengthen certain muscles because it can cause bad form over time (& maybe even an injury).
I appreciate the grouping of the muscles first before going into the specifics of each one. It makes it easier to understand their function when knowing their function as a group first.
Dr. Goodin, You always have the most digestible videos even for the hardest subjects. The Q angle was an interesting topic I have not heard of yet. How fascinating.
I always enjoy the muscle action videos because of the detailed explanations of each muscle in a certain area, today the knee. The video connected multiple muscles and how they work together which helped me understand the grouping and action connection of muscles.
Learning about the Q angle for me, is a relatively new piece of information I'm learning. Your explanation of the Q angle was very helpful in understanding it.
The images you include on the slides are helpful to refer to when talking about the function of muscles, understanding the location of various muscles helps me better understand their functions.
So interesting how muscle actions have a lot to do with knee health. I appreciated you describing the lines of pull, that always helps provide a clearer understanding. I think the knee might be my favorite series!
This video was a great review on the muscles involved in the knee joint. Also, remembering the definition of biarticulate and how risky injuries to the knee are.

I love learning about the lower extremity muscles because of how many times myself or teammates have had problems with them! And it all just makes so much sense as you learn more and more about these movements and the muscles
It is easy to follow and take notes because the video is sectioned off by different topics and muscles. I've been enjoying learning more about this for injury prevention as well as my own personal information about how to have a better lift.
This was a really great review of the anatomy of the muscles causing movements at the knee joint! Especially when you tied in what muscles aid in knee health, that brings in even more specificity of each muscles movements and roles! So cool!
I had just finished leaning back and crossing my legs when you explained how the sartorius plays a crucial role in this action (and why this is probably so comfortable).
It was helpful to have some background in these muscles from learning the hip in the last module. This makes understanding the actions of new muscles presented in this video easier!
It is interesting to learn more about the Q angle and its role in knee joint function and health. The review of the different musculature was also helpful.
In this video, Dr. Goodin discussed the muscles of the knee. First he discussed the quad muscles. Then he discussed the Q angle. Learning how the Q angle is formed and why a greater Q angles causes more instability in the knee was very interesting. I like how you discussed how people with higher than normal Q angles can try to counteract that by maintaining the strength of the vastus medialis. I didn't know that and thought it was very interesting. Then he discussed the hamstring group and the two joint muscles and how they are most effective when the origin or insertion is stabilized. Then he discussed all the knee muscles and their actions. I like when the actions of the individual actions are named as it makes it easier to remember after going over them.
Learning a lot more in depth from anatomy of what our muscles do was really cool. This video was really informative when it comes to elaborating on what the joints do, the Q angle, and the attachments of muscles.
I found this video very helpful in understanding the different movements of the muscles in the knee. I think that having many motions from the last section will help to better understand the knee joint.

It was so interesting to learn about all the structures, especially the ankle, that can have an impact on staying injury free if someone is at risk with a large Q angle
It’s really interesting to think about how muscles from the previous unit (hip/pelvic girdle) act on the hip compared to how they act on/with the knee! I love how everything we’ve learned is coming together!
This video was a great review from anatomy! One thing that really interested me was the Q angle, how it varies between males/females, and how you can correct abnormalities to this by strengthening certain muscles!
I'm very appreciative of the quick comments about lines of pull of the vasti group because whenever I've considered the quad muscles I haven't necessarily thought about how they have slightly different lines of pull, but it was interesting to hear that this can alter patellar tracking as well.
I got a out of this video and it really helped me understand the Q angle more! It has been difficult to understand but it makes sense how people with higher Q angles need to strengthen certain muscles to counteract the pull.
