Loving all these musical analysis videos! You cover some really cool stuff, and I love the comparisons you drew from all the Overworld themes and how they are similar and/or different. Honestly, while I'm sure an unpopular choice and one not even covered here, the Link's Awakening Overworld theme is probably my favorite, using the original, recognizable base theme and then expanding it with a slightly more sinister section that ends sounding victorious. It's amazing what people can do with beeps and boops! Twilight Princess would have to be a close second, though - love the music in that game!

Awesome video. I know the focus on this was just the overworld themes, but it seems like there could be just so much stuff to unpack and analyze when it comes to Zelda games. Changes in theme from Kakariko villages for example, the 3 day Clock Town cycle progression in Majoras Mask, the overlapping themes from the Wind Waker credits.
I agree that Twilight Princess had the best overall soundtrack, and so many themes were just so well done in that game. I love the ZREO rendition of that soundtrack.

Wind Waker is my favourite, too, and mostly because of the amazing soundtrack. My absolute favourite piece of Zelda music is the Phantom Ganon theme. The the way it reacts to Ganon's attack bouncing back and forth with the rising progression, and finishes off with a fanfare, gets me all giggly every time! ^.^
Now that I think about it further, the progression is a series of a high pitched orchestra hit for Link's swing followed by a "shrimp" in the bass line for Ganon's swing. High and low to represent light and dark, perhaps? That's cool!

Good analysis, and nice that you annotated corrections. Your technical knowledge of music is far superior to mine, but nice to see that we similarly "get" the intent. Music's weird in that fundamentally it's pure mathematics, but is designed to elicit pure emotion.

The Majora's Mask termina field theme was spooky enough that combined with anxiety over the time limit, I never dared to make much progress in the game

The journey Kondo takes us on for the Windwaker Overworld Ocean Theme is amazing. One of my favourite overworld themes ever. His melodies are great but his chord progressions are always outstanding.

Unspecified. It simply states there were 4 composers that worked on WW, including Kondo and Negata. My gut tells me it was Kondo that composed this piece. Look at his legendary body of work. He's completely capable of composing this piece. He's done epic chord progressions like this before. The same way I believe it's Kondo who composed Gusty Garden in Super Mario Galaxy. Even though that one is unspecified as well.
