About the US bases, I think Tito Boy got it wrong. Nowhere did Pia say it's going to be easy to bring the American military bases back. She was only asked what's her opinion on the possibility of having the bases back in the Philippines to which Pia gave an excellent answer by making it non-divisive but rather one that looks toward unity which I think is one of the values the MUO stand for. I agree with US bases in the philippines because they have a mutual defense treaty which was signed in 1942 if im not mistaken. It's to reinforce cooperation between two countries' mutual interests to safeguard the country against internal and external threats/aggression. I welcome the American presence in the country because I think its foreign policy is to stabilize the region.
I think Pia was ok with US bases in the Philippines since there are US bases in Germany, Bahrain, Brazil, Belgium, Australia, Qatar, Israel, Italy, United Arab Emirates, South Korea and Japan (to name a few), and those countries seem to be doing very well with American boots inside their domain.

I am a half-breed. my grandfather from my mother side was a guerilla soldier who got injured during the war and he was given a purple heart for it. and my father's dad was a US soldier. growing up with these folks was an eye opener for me of how we, the Filipinos and Americans helped each other during the war. The connection and relationship that were created between these brave soldiers is just something you cannot really fathom without knowing one or two of these guys.. there is that respect. If history repeats itself, without a second thought, I would be honored to fight side by side with the Americans for peace. I don't know why Boy Abunda is against it, just speculating that maybe he does not want to offend the president and his family but things have change. If you don't know, USA helped us become a successful country during the 1930s. No matter what you say, USA still helped our country for the better outcome in the future, only to be destroyed by the Filipinos itself. Now, that's my basis. Spain also did atrocities but they helped our economy grow and make manila as one of the original global cities in the world by opening the Trade routes through the suez and the galleon. If you keep looking at the negative sides of the past, you won't really accept any of these countries who is trying to help us on our current issues with China.
