Hi, I'm not here to criticize anything, I really respect every different culture and people, as an Chinese, I really feel to say that in China there are no such a thing like you will be force to join the military, and actually it's not easy to be qualified to became a soldier, there are general selection and a lot of steps, and most of the people who join the military are with honor and passion just like any other country. I can understand that you couldn't know it because you don't live there so just want to inform this to you. Respect, for all the people who's wearing the uniform to protect their country.

Things between governments of each country are always like this, for one thing called interest, that just continue to fight and fight and fight with each others and everyone says that they are the right side but in the end we civilians are always the victim.
I wrote this comments at the beginning not to trash talk about who are the greatest country or who are stronger or whatever, just like I said, respect for those who wear a uniform to protect their country.

Ask pre-military dudes from China, you will probably get this kind of answers very often. We don't even have forced military service. (If you do not count in that military training take place during High school time, which last for two weeks.)

I want to tell you that there are many people in China.So It's normal that a lot of armies in China. As a Chinese teenager, I want to say nobody in China is forced to join the army. In China, we can choose join or not. It's up to us. (Believe it or not, 98% soldiers in China on the screen got Bachelor or Doctor degree from the best military college in China) As for why it seems Chinese armies are very disciplined. It's the quality of our nation. Chinese discipline is strict. But we are not what most western media says there is no freedom in China. Actually we do have a great life here. We can do lots of things as you can. If you have never been to China, don't judge. And don't trust some western media. You know what, I felt very bad when I saw some western media treat China as a polluted country and not secure(actually According to international survey, China is the safest country in the world) . I am from China, I have a lot of friends graduated from military school and became a soldier, none of them were forced to be a soldier, they are free to leave when they graduate and none of them left, these friends of mine are all proud and willing to fight for our country. I don’t know where you got the information that all Chinese soldiers are forced to join the army, that assumption of yours is just not true and ridiculous.

All men and women in the PLA or any off branches of the PLA such as PAP or PAM are strictly volunteers however we do have conscription laws in place but no one has been conscripted into the PLA Since the early 1990s

China have a lot of soldiers and advance military weapon and the Philippines don't have a lot of soldier and thier weapon are not advance. china have advantage to their number of soldiers and technology but Filipino soldiers are brave and have determination to fight for their county this is proven in korean war
As a Chinese, I can tell you for sure that we volunteer to join Chinese army. Many kids who are from rural area or from poor family are often choose to join the army due high salary and retirement fund. Most importantly, government will find you a job after you retire from the army. Therefore, many of Chinese, especially those who are from poor family, want to join Chinese army after they finish mandatory 12 years education.
It is mandatory for all Korean men to serve 2 years in army after certain age. However, this is due to their small population.

Based on Chinese military service law, citizens between 18 and 24 are required to report their military service status to the administration. But we reserve the right to make decision. So it's volunteered in real life. Besides, It's the obligation of a citizen to serve our country. What's wrong with serving your own country? FYI, in case you didn't know, still to these days, Taiwan, Singapore, South Korea have laws to enforce their citizen to serve military(mandatory military service law). In history, US had it too.

I don't how you see it, but nobody forces you to join the army in China, same as in the USA. People either join the army for patriotism or want a military career, there is not much difference around the world except for countries like South and North Korea where every man has to serve the army due to the tension between two countries and that's what I call 'forced to join'.
China has a population of 1.4 billion, if it is true that every man in China is forced to serve in the army, I suppose the PLA will have over 100 million troops instead of 2 million.In fact, most of the PLA soldiers volunteer to join the army,unlike the South Korea,where man must serve in the army.

Millions but they are not battle tested interms of real war while philippines is battle tested during Spanish war, WW2, Filipino Korean war, Vietnam war, Filipino American war until now.
