  • Hybrid electric vehicles have existed for a long time. Already at the beginning of the 20th century, Henri Pieper and Ferdinand Porsche developed hybrid electric vehicles. Today, efforts are being made, in particular in order to lower CO2 emissions, which have increased over the past years. Moreover, because of the low energy density of Li-ion batteries, purely electric vehicles are not yet an alternative to the traditional vehicles with combustion engines.

    Thanks for the video but your explanation about the functionality of Micro and Mild Hybrids needs to be corrected. Micro Hybrid mainly functions in the engine stop/start mode; while Mild Hybrid can operate in engine stop/start, brake regeneration, and torque assist modes.

    how does the electric motor spin at exactly the same rate as the engine?

      mazin2892 Hmm, what's your point? I don't get it :)

    • @mazin2892
      @mazin2892 9 лет назад

      LOL sorry for not being clear.
      For example lets say the engine is spinning at 3000rpm how does an electric motor connect to a shaft already spinning at 3000 rpm.

    • @ThomasSchwenke-knowledge
      @ThomasSchwenke-knowledge  9 лет назад +1

      mazin2892 Hmm, why would it connect?

    • @mazin2892
      @mazin2892 9 лет назад

      if the electric motor does not connect to the drive shaft or to the transmission how does it add more power (in a parallel layout).
      Look at 2:02 the elctric motor is connected to a same gear as the engine. but how does it rotate at the same speed as the engine.

      mazin2892 Hi, there are several systems and all do it in a different way. The Toyota uses the Hybrid Synergy Drive. Search for it using Google and you'll find some good explanation how it's done!

    I kinda got pissed when you used a 59 fury to represent plug in hybrids. A 59 fury is a highly stylish car that could only exist in gasoline. Plug in hybrids are modern which means they look unstylish and ugly.
