I mean they work on a ship with a full food court, conference rooms, etc. Plus I've seen him buy them nice lunches on multiple occasions. Payment doesn't seem like much of a stretch.

It's like he's evil to the point of conquering the galaxy, but still feels he has to be fair and treat his Watchdogs well by paying them and giving them a food court, etc. It's like he's more of an administrative bad guy than an evil mastermind.
@@goodmachines7743 That's why working for him wouldn't be terrible. The only thing is Hater needing to take the "Bad Guy" thing seriously. And he'd be one of the best bad guys in the galaxy. Maybe even the greatest in the galaxy

Hater and Peepers have been friends first and Overlord-minion duo second. We never knew to explore that but it was hinted at. My personal headcanon is that Peepers and Hater took over the native planet of the Watchdogs species by force, just the two of them, and then started conquering the galaxy. I think deep down Hater knows he needs Peepers and couldn't have done it all without him.
