    I come from 3 generations of upholsterers. This tutorial was perfect! No useless talk, and well executed steps right down to pointing out to make sure that piping join was not going to show. Your channel will be my first recommendation to anyone asking for help.

    Once again you saved my life ! I didn't know how to make a template for a cushion going on an old 'Louis XVI cabriolet' I had been working on for a while. I was stuck (having very few imagination !) with the problem. Now you've also taught me how to make the cushion and all that. A big thank you and a hug from France.

    Hi Neil, Just wanted to say thank you.
    My first trade was upholstery. I did a traditional upholstery apprenticeship in the late 1970's, got a City and Guilds, but after 5 or 6 years I switched to chasing the white gold that was double glazing!!!!
    Fast forward 40+ years and I'm looking to dust off my tools and start again. Your videos are FANTASTIC and just what I've been looking for to knock off the rust, fill my knowledge gaps and get me up to date. Plus, you are a proper craftsman, don't have an irritating US accent and you appear to be a Spurs fan! COYS!
    Nice one and thanks again.

    Flipping heck, i thought this bit would be easier, i was wrong lol. Made the frame of a barrel chair and finished the inside ready for the outside but first i need to do the front panel and i'm running out of fabric lol. This is going to take some supreme working out to get the piping and side bits of the cushion. Loving the challenge and it's really comfy, really appreciate your help buddy!

    Excellent video! What is the material called that you use to slide the cushion in easier? I've been using plastic + and vacuum but would love something that isn't just one use and can stay in the cushion. I think you called it a sock - but if I'm trying to order some (from the states), what would I look for? Thanks so much - really love the speed of the video.

    • @faceliftinteriors
      @faceliftinteriors  8 месяцев назад +1

      Thanks Tiffany. Over here we call it 'Stocking Net' its like a sock for the cushion. Can anyone from the US chime in here and let us know what you guys call it??? 🧵✂️⛏️📐📎🙏

    Learning a lot here! I bought some books on automotive upholstery a while back, but having it in video format (although not quite the same) is a huge help. My first project is to make my office chair cushy! It's flat and my assets.. are hurting after a bit. I thought about using a car seat and weld a frame to it so it would fit my office chairs chassis, but they're all too heavy. I need some firm foam and a fabric that my little Singer can get through and also not wear out. Any suggestions?

    • @faceliftinteriors
      @faceliftinteriors  Год назад +1

      Sorry for the delay in replying! I would recommend 2 inch blue upholstery foam for the seat (or an inch and a half If you don’t want it too bulky). It’s a firm foam but comfortable and durable 👍🏻

    Why is the zipper border more narrow than rest of border?

  • @gussieb7216
    @gussieb7216 8 месяцев назад

    I know this is an old post, but I’d really like to follow your instructions. I have one question, please: why did you add an extra inch to the front when you made the pattern?

    • @faceliftinteriors
      @faceliftinteriors  8 месяцев назад

      It would be 0.5" on the front and 0.5" on the back and the sides for your sewing allowance. 🙏📎🧵

    • @gussieb7216
      @gussieb7216 8 месяцев назад

      Thank you for your reply! Please let me clarify: when you were drawing the pattern (before cutting), you added 1” to the front (before cutting with an additional 0.5” all around). I’m wondering why you added that 1”. Thank you, again!
