anyone in Scotland who beleives we are not a colony should watch and listen to this video this is why I can say that Julie Ruddock is one of our best and most truthful historians although she will deny this!
I really enjoyed this one, I'm fascinated by the rise and fall of the gentry families. It's good to hear that the daughter tried to turn things around.
It has been a long time since I was up there, such a bonny area. We had family who lived fairly close to Guisachan. Another excellent article, thank you
The daughter was a real rebel .Good for her . Talking about them eating with their servants I remember... In 1978 in Ontario Canada when I was working on a dairy farm ,the farmer had imported Clydsdales from Scotland. The people he bought them from came over for a visit and made a comment to the farmers about me eating with them as that was still not done in Scotland. In fact you were not even allowed to engage in conversation and kept at a distance. I guess it all depends how much money one has. I was shocked to hear that . Suffice it to say I still ate at the same table with them I was not banished to the cellar. Awesome to hear about the dogs though ,I had no idea. Another excellent history lesson.
I really enjoyed this. Thank you! It must have been a beautiful place in it's time. I would have liked to have met the daughter. She sounds like an interesting person.

Great praise indeed, thank you John. I try my best to be factual, although at times that may not be appreciated by some!
Superb! A fascinating history. Thanks for another great video!
Thank you for watching! And....on to the next one.....
@Exploring Scotland's History very much looking forward to it!
Lovely to know how Goldies came into being. I've known some and always remember them.
Also to learn about Ishbel. Thanks!
Indeed! Our Retriever was a gentle big soul, had a lot to deal with when the boxer pup arrived, and took it all in his stride!

Yes, I'll be honest, I'm generally more interested in the 'fall', ha ha
I think I knew that about the golden retriever from another video. Thanks for another great history lesson.
You are most welcome !!

It truly is gorgeous up that way. We often stay in Beauly.
