My favourite part of Refactoring UI is the fact that there is always a consideration and reason for every feature in a design. That has helped me improve as a front-end developer and a budding UI/UX designer. Amazing stuff Steve, amazing!
Another amazing refactor. Every time I watch the 'before' pages in your videos, I think, "I have a page that looks like that, what's wrong", then *BAM* I see what's wrong. I hope watching these rubs off and I can apply these things when I first build a screen instead of after
I didn't even know I was interested in UI design before I watched your videos. It's so satisfying watching you work and hearing your explanations of all design choices. Please keep making your videos!
I don't understand why some people would thumbs down this video. Steve is actually spending his time creating this video and shares his knowledge totally free. Every time I watch his tutorial I learn so much. God bless you sir. Keep it up!
This has been one of the most informative videos out there, giving a close view towards what goes ( or should go) on in an UX-UI designer's mind, thank you!
Steve, your tips are legendary, I am a web developer that just started ui design and I absolutely love your tips, who knew just a little changes here and there could make a huge difference, thanks a lot and keep up the good work
Wooow mind blowing! It's been quite some time, I've not seen such informative design videos. Thank you for sharing with everyone with your experience and knowledge!
I'm blown away at how high quality this content is, great job! I love how you make it so simple to consume and it's very easy to follow along. Thank you for making these!
These are great videos. Would really like to see some done for mobile devices as well. I'm not saying it's easier to do for desktop but there are unique challenges to working with the constraints of smaller screens that may not be addressed in videos like this one. Love the channel by the way.
Another fantastic piece, VERY valuable to a dev like me who can't design at all. Question though: Were you not afraid that the dots used instead of the tags would resemble radio buttons?
I share your concern, as a Designer who codes my brain imediately said: "My n word, these are not supposed to be here" - and i was like: fo sho, but this ain't our project, so just be quiet
Wasn't concerned at the time but a few people have pointed this out. I still think the dots are effective at highlighting the severity but in retrospect I would probably change the style of them so the don't have that outer lighter circle. I would just make them a small, solid colour dot. Thanks for checking out the video!
Very interesting to watch, I have very little knowledge of UI design except for controls for automation software which is more focused on the technical aspect rather than the user experience.
Excellent video! One design critique: The red & green flags look identical in a monochrome setting and might be hard to distinguish for those with a vision/color disability. Perhaps using a different icon for each status in addition to the color would address that?
Great point! I completely failed to consider this. Using an icon like an exclamation for the red and a check for the green could be a great alternative.
@@SteveSchoger i was already in love with your channel but comments like these sealed the deal for me you're so often to conversations about good design like A+ you're a good dude
These videos are amazing. I'm a developer who sometimes has to dabble in UI design and I can't tell you how much these videos have helped me. Thank you! Have you considered making a full-blown web-design course someday?
This is so amazing Steve you have done it again . Really high quality content. Thanks so much for all the tips. I really wish you could give me your opinion in project I am working on.
Genuinely excited everytime a see a new Refactoring UI in my sub box, learning a lot from you. Do you have a list of the Sketch plugins you use or most recommend? I'd be interested to know. Thanks.
These are fantastic! Can you help me understand how you develop the confidence to know what to change? Do you think you just came up with your own "style guide" that you're comfortable with and then evaluate the various elements against that style? Do you have an internal mental process that you walk through when you evaluate a site; for example, starting with whitespace, then moving to arrangement of elements based on usability, then colors, then fonts? Do you have resources that you can share with us to help us build that internal confidence to know what elements need to change? Thanks and keep it up.
Love this series, man! Really inspiring. Question - @7:19 - what's that plugin/tool that you use to apply link colour globally? It seems you're using a control from the mac toolbar, not sketch?
This content is so high quality, we are privileged to get this for free! Keep up the good work Steve!
THIS.
I will happily Patron you for this high quality design advice and critique. It’s invaluable.

I'm not involved with UI design at all, but this series is just facinating!

This will help me in a project I am working on now. Awesome work!!!
Another fantastic piece, VERY valuable to a dev like me who can't design at all. Question though:
Were you not afraid that the dots used instead of the tags would resemble radio buttons?
They are radio buttons, i think
Well I'm not sure they are supposed to be, when doing the vid, it really was a way of highlighting the text
I share your concern, as a Designer who codes my brain imediately said: "My n word, these are not supposed to be here" - and i was like: fo sho, but this ain't our project, so just be quiet
They don't even look like radio buttons.
Wasn't concerned at the time but a few people have pointed this out.
