Scandinavian Christmas for me is remembering my heritage and sharing with the grandchildren. Lefsa, crumkaka, and lutefisk are the core memories, back to the black pots and pans and rolling out the lefsa. Far from the absolute neutrals seen illustrated here, but rather where red, white, blue and green permeate our home. Naturals in Scandinavian design are not necessarily meant as colorless, but rather greenery and limbs, natural wood, stars of handwoven wooden boughs, accompanied by handmade adorned towels, tablecloth’s and bedding. Where you often find the rudely made yet delicate ornaments made by children. What we call the natural lifestyle of humble living rather than the immaculate perfection of perceived modernization of perfected round balls, machine shaved stars with glass tirelessly glistening amongst modern perfection.
