36 minutes in, and I’ve heard Nate say, “down to the nit and gritty,” and “kick it to the curve.” The confidence with which Nate butchers clichés actually makes them fresh again.
I am honored to be the unofficial “first double comment “ (I say unofficial because I highly doubt they did their research on that). I stand on the shoulders of all the Nateland comment legends, like Turr Ler and Nicole’s Butcher. Thank you for paving the way, and thank you Bald Eagle for picking my comments!
When Nate said "Jeremy..." the first time, I just knew it was one of my comments. Slightly disappointed, but glad Jeremy's got some air time. When he said it the second time, I was about to lose my mind, only to be gut punched again! Super happy for you, but not sure I can take another round of teasing.
"After the ignominious colonel poured worcestershire sauce on his quinoa very specifically, he noticed a mischievous squirrel with scissors cutting down the anemones on his rural isthmus farm near Massachusetts. He took his sixth drink from his draught he bought often from an antarctic brewery back in February and thought, this is quite an abhorrent phenomenon." (This could be a whole episode of Nate trying to read these 2 sentences. Love the show)
John's honesty and the discussion about being real was great. As a Pastor, being real is both the hardest and yet most appreciated thing I can do. Love love love this show!!!
@Nate....I started watching you a month ago or so...and the reason I love watching you is you are a CLEAN, NON CUSSING, NO SEXUAL REFERENCES kind of comedian. So, I have no problem sharing your videos with my Christian friends. Thank you for doing what you do......
Wow. Nateland once again providing the answer to a question no one asked… “What would Dwight Schrute’s warm-up gear look like if he went to Vandy?” I truly enjoy you guys! Thank you for the amazing podcast each week.
Honestly I was nervous about this one, but it was so good! Butterscotch buying tickets to Nate's show is just the best illustration of their friendship dynamic. Best part of my Wednesdays every week.
With every episode that passes, Bates is slowly becoming my favorite guy on the podcast. When he tells a joke I root for him like "C'mom breakfast!!! You got this!!"
Well, being one of the Folks (while my spouse is not) has caused some trouble... Yesterday, out of the blue, my relatively healthy husband said "I think I might have gout." Rather than show loving, wifely concern, I instantly burst out laughing. Apparently that's not the ideal reaction. He did eventually allow me to explain and also share my expertise on the condition, based on the diagnostic comments I've absorbed from Nateland/Aaronland. Thanks Aaron, Nate & Bingaling for teaching us so good!!
I appreciate how Nate just says it how it is on here. When John said people were thinking he was gay and Nate said “well you showed them.” I was dead 😂 Pullin no punches, and no apologies. Love it. Please Bernard, I just want to get one in before I die.
At least once during the comments section I say the quote from Big Daddy “it’s not his fault he can’t read!” Love the podcast and hearing the heated debates about things that don’t matter. Keep it up y’all!
I loved the energy of the four of you together. I can tell you all like and respect one another and unlike a lot of the previous guest shows, everyone is participating in the banter. I feel like I’m sitting in the room with all of you just catching up on life. Ty for introducing me to John Crist.
Man vs. words. I got into this podcast knowing Nate was hilarious; I now know Aaron is a GREAT standup but the low key gem here is basket case and his quips delivered under his breath so as to go unnoticed by the other two. The show is dope. Cheers.
New to this podcast. Listen to Kathleen Madigan’s Pubcast and John Reep’s countryish. Tell me who the guys other than Nate are. They have so many nicknames in the comments I don’t know the real names 🤷♀️
Given the commitment you guys have to staying on topic, I feel like this could have still been called the Georgia episode and no one would have noticed. Keep up the good work boys.
The best part of this podcast is when Nate reads a pretty common word like cutlery or civilization and reads it like he is trying to learn a foreign language
Nate is an old school comic and it's something to be appreciated. GRANTED, I love seeing comedians break naturally during sets. Each comic has their thing, I love comedy and have followed it for most my life. I have seen Nate, Brian, Aaron, and John's comedy and I love it. Thank you all for this episode.
When Crist say "self depreciating" and the others were confused and then he thinks the word he used is too advanced for the other guys so he confidently apologizes for using a "5 syllable word" even though it was 6 syllables. It made me think he fits in with this podcast, especially since the word he was so arrogantly confident in saying was complete nonsense.
Hello folks! Nate Aaron and bookshelf have been my go to podcast to fall asleep listening too for MONTHS I love guessing what you guys looked like before watching it on RUclips. One more thing LETS GOOO
This podcast makes me want to quit my job and move to Nashville to hangout at Zanies and tell jokes for a living. Hopefully, it will inspire some people that are young and actually funny to do so as well.
John needs to be part of this podcast at least every other month . This one was GOLD ! I don’t think I have ever laughed so hard in my life as I have the last 2+ hours. You guys are awesome…. Keep up the incredible content !
My name is Wheeler Garrett I have been listening since episode one. My highschool graphic design teacher is Clayburn Cox. He is also a stand up comedian who has performed with both Aaron and Brick. He recently sent me a picture of Aaron holding up a sign that said “Wheeler is bad” just to mess with me because he knows I’m a fan. He is the funniest person I’ve ever seen and think he would be a great guest. He has some hilarious stories even a few about how his students torment him with corn. Please have him on!
This episode makes me want to both cry happy tears and breakdance at the same time. Such an incredible example on what Christianity is supposed to look like- taking responsibility for your actions, repenting, and other believers forgiving you 100%. I think Jesus is also breakdancing and crying happy tears. Thanks guys for being a such a great window to the world on what the Bible actually says.
I guess I always looked at John as a Comedian that was a Christian vs at “Christian Comedian” Great show, lot of good stuff in this one! See ya in Corpus Christi in a few weeks Nate!
It's ironic how Nate's standard of how easy something is always seems to be "Well...my wife could do it...soooo..." True Folks are not at all surprised Laura could do it! Of course she could! We would be much more impressed if he could say "Well...I could do it...soooo...."
This is awesome. I make jokes in online games for videos and I've been struggling with where the line is as a Christian. Its good to hear you guys talk this out. This is by far one of the most serious episodes to date but it is still so light-hearted, funny and encouraging. Thanks Nate, Aaron, John, and big-boobs.
I have been waiting SO long for the Georgia episode and come to find out this was supposed to be the one and y’all talked about something completely different! Still loved this episode and I’ll keep watching and waiting! Love y’all and keep it up!
Gosh you gotta love Bambi! I've had a bottle of water open in my bag once too, and on another occasion Italian Salad dressing. It got all over my work laptop and phone and stained my pants. I always relate to his stories! Thanks for everything guys, I look forward to it every week!
Good to see John back at it and being authentically himself! I am indebted to him since I found Nate through John. A few years ago, John posted a story on his Instagram with Nate and they were playing…wait for it…golf.
I play the drums and currently listening while mowing my yard. It’s 8am and now thinking about drinking a beer, thanks guys! Another great episode. Ohhh, what is A30?!
So funny listening to Nate school John on how comedy should be. 😂. You guys are seriously overthinking how comedy is done. Funny is funny. I love Nate’s dry humor. And I love Nate’s way of laughing at himself and with his audience. The key is to come across genuine no matter how you are delivering it. It’s all good as long as someone doesn’t come across like they are fake or like they are trying to be funny. That’s why I love this podcast. It feels genuine. And btw, I laugh at myself all the time because I’ve when Nate gets tongue tied I find myself saying YabbaDabbaDoo! 😂
Poor Bates. First the chipmunks chew up his car that costs over $4,000 to repair, then he wets his pants on the way to the hotel and has to wear them to his show because it's the only pair he packed that weekend. Now he gets shortchanged $700 with royalties he has to pay back to the radio stations. It's no wonder he's always looks so worried...
I love how Nate points to Aaron after his "Table of Ten" philosophy as if Aaron is sitting in class taking notes. Felt like a Michael Scott business school moment. Maybe Nate could be a philosophy adjunct professor at Vandy.
Love John Crist and just started listening to his podcast day 1 and just found Nate a few days ago. Saw this and expected to be lmao the whole time but instead they got super deep and real talk. But it was funny in its own way because everything they said was true. Did not disappoint as always
Dang they really came for John calling him out for laughing at his own jokes before they even really even started the conversation… brutal. Love the camaraderie between them and the laughs this episode, let’s goooo!
I was a bit nervous during that segment. I thought the interview was going to be awkward, because they were teasing him. I’m relieved that they made the rest of the episode funny.
This episode was awesome. I love Trey Kennedy and his ability to roll with the punches. His middle schooler videos crack me up. Y’all should have him on again!
Being born and raised in Nashville my self, I’m happy to see us represented by someone as sarcastic as myself. Nate couldn’t embody my idea of Nashville humor any better. Would love to see him on JRE again. Because of how much I listen to Rogan that’s when I started listening to Nateland after finding out Nate had his own podcast.
Hello folks! Please Nate give us weekly updates on that airplane show, or even just make up the rest of the episodes and why no one on that plane was missed
Fantastic podcast! Tag line: Dissecting Comedy. (I thought about "disembowling comedy." ) I've got two tickets to the West Palm show and are looking forward to seeing you. I learned an amazing amount about comedy in this podcast. Your stand-ups and podcasts have surely saved my life more than once. I often drive between central Florida and South Florida and if I start getting sleepy on the 5-hour drive I fire up the podcast and it's impossible to fall asleep while I'm laughing.
So this is a little long for a tag line, but it is a spot on summary of every episode: Each show begins with Nate struggling through comments by mutilating people’s names and just generally fumbling through people’s words like a baby giraffe learning to walk. Barbecue then reads wiki facts he “researched” on the shows topic while Nate then makes up scenarios about what Backstreet is reading and acts them out while Aaron chuckles, laughs and wheezes like an 85 year old lifetime smoker and corrects Nates grammar and prods him into making the fictitious story he’s acting out even funnier all while Bellybutton nose whistles in the background and tries to squeeze in 1 liners. That’s every show and that’s what makes y’all the best!! Don’t ever stop!
No momma is not southern. I live in Utah and have always called my mother momma. She pasted many years ago but my sisters and I still call her momma, she also called her mother momma. It is endearing, Perhaps from a bygone time, but I like it! Love the podcast. This is the first time I have listened. Nate is why I tuned in, nice to a walk if you on a podcast. I get my laughs in for the day!
Hello folks! Longtime listener, first time commentator. Congrats to A&W Root Beer on the wedding. I love how every time New Balance and BB King mention something the Root Beer knows nothing about, he just hums knowingly because he’s the secret genius. Unbelievable.
I love this show. I enjoy Nate's comments on everything and Aaron's genius remarks, and of course, Basket Brain's Backyard Bonanza always has important opinions. And Aaron, even though this is the show all about Nate I did want to say I really like your Shirts and Skins special and I look forward to seeing your work in the future. Love you guys!
2:00:48 This is a great bit. "Don't make me care...if you make me see this happen, you make me look like a chump. Now I'm upset" Delivery is funny and it's true. I don't care if you do that, but the way you went about it now makes me have to be mad. Love the show!
I haven't finished yet, but this is by far my favorite episode. The baseball chatter about well-known players had me rolling. Based on your ages, only Aaron will appreciate this, but I only know players who were included in the 2001 CD-ROM Backyard Baseball game. Chipper Jones, Sammy Sosa, Ken Griffey Jr., etc. However, I still didn't recognize Tony Gwynn, and he was in the games lineup! Sorry, Berenstain Bear, I agree that Cal Ripken Jr. was the better example. Signed, an O's fan who shares a birthday with Cal ;)
Really enjoyed this episode! One of the best. Saw Nate as a guest on another podcast. He was great but the podcast itself was not. Made me appreciate Nateland even more.
The proper Christian response if someone owns their sin, addresses the issue and gets themselves right, then the biblical course of action is not only to forgive your brother and welcome them back into fellowship, but don’t even bring it up anymore and just forget about it and move forward. Love John Crist like a brother and very much appreciate his honesty and integrity. The enemy is the accuser of the brethren and inspires the world to look at God’s people under a microscope and WANT to see them fall (in their own hypocrisy) to have whereof to accuse them because they hate Jesus Christ. So most Christians are forgiving when a fellow believer repents, but unfortunately the world is not…so it takes real integrity to own up to a mistake instead of trying to hide it and also shows the heart of a man that cares more about what God thinks than what the world thinks. And we ought to seek God’s approval rather than mens.
Hello, Folks! I think I just heard Nate say “Nit and gritty” instead of “Nitty gritty.” It sounded so natural that he fooled me…till I looked it up to see if it was a variant of the phrase...it’s not, but maybe it should be!? Love this show - y’all are the best comedy podcast I’ve ever heard!
Two things. No. 1 I feel like you all are taking a little too much pride in not knowing things. And B. Listening to this podcast can be hard enough when you three agree. When you're arguing: brutal. And that's why I love it.
I love John Crist, I’ve been watching him for years I was so excited when I saw the title of this ep. Nate mentions Briscuit’s dry bar stand up so I actually searched and watched it and it was surprisingly very funny. I think even funnier now that I feel like I’ve gotten to know him first. the podcast dynamic makes it relatable like having Breakfast as an actual friend. ALSO, I followed aaronland which is VERY funny. I just love how you guys always come in clutch with all things funny. Wholesome laughter every time! Me and my fiancé are hoping to come see shows very soon! I had been trying to bribe him w Nate tickets, so he would be so happy and maybe propose there, but since he did last week and i like the dynamic so much I have actually been more focused on seeing the live podcasts instead of separate acts, which has him more intrigued by the podcast too.
36 minutes in, and I’ve heard Nate say, “down to the nit and gritty,” and “kick it to the curve.”

That was Breakfast-level snark.
Gosh, if I had only read up on John's background BEFORE watching this episode, Nate would have had me rolling, but it went right over my head.
Nate didn't pull any punches the whole episode. John was a good sport. Nate sits alone at his table looking out at a world of Briskets.
1:31:36 is when it happens
18:12 Nate's such a clean comic he says Alfred HitchHOCK
"After the ignominious colonel poured worcestershire sauce on his quinoa very specifically, he noticed a mischievous squirrel with scissors cutting down the anemones on his rural isthmus farm near Massachusetts.

It's not fair that you didn't capitalize Antarctic. That will throw him off for sure.
The fishing pole analogy was perfect Aaron.
Brain’s comment to John: ” I know your stuff cuz I follow Trey Kennedy.” Loved John and Aaron’s reaction.
John's honesty and the discussion about being real was great. As a Pastor, being real is both the hardest and yet most appreciated thing I can do. Love love love this show!!!

I haven't laughed this hard since Nate's "how to order artisanal coffee" bit!! You all were hilarious! Thanks for the laughs!
Now I'm upset"
Delivery is funny and it's true.
Signed, an O's fan who shares a birthday with Cal ;)
yeah same, who is Tony Qwynn?
Really enjoyed this episode! One of the best.
Saw Nate as a guest on another podcast. He was great but the podcast itself was not. Made me appreciate Nateland even more.
did you guys see Nate at 42:38 look into the camera and say "help me" this is going to be a long two hours.. hahaha
I love love loved John & Aarons show in Wichita Falls, TX!!! I loved the part about our town---the Falls!!
It looked like Nate and Bosley are about to wrastle over baseball (of all things)
The story of "the opener might recognize you" killed me
GOSH! “One of those things when you’re like ‘I don’t think I should be doing this’, well you know….” Ruthless!
I never have laughed so hard. Nate is effortlessly funny.
Btw, I watched StartUp on your recommendation - and I absolutely love it! I hope Netflix renews the show. Thanks, Nate.
saw John and Aaron live and both crushed it
For April fools next year (God spare us that long) we need a full episode of Aaronland
