My wife took about 5 lessons from a private driving school instructor in California in 2012 and the rate he charged then was $80/class of one hour. I think the 5 or 7 class package is good for beginners. Having seen you drive in the vlog, you don’t need driving lessons. Just get your road test done ASAP. As you said, having a DL is the best form of picture ID in the US.

NJ motor vehicle law is very lenient in comparison. If you produce a foreign driving license with chip that has all details printed in English, then you get a road test exemption. Then you just need to clear the knowledge test (score 40 out of 50 questions) and they print your license on the spot :)
This is both a good and a bad thing.
Good : because you can get to driving quicker
Bad : because if you don't really know how to drive but still have a license (we all know how easy it is to get a license from Indian RTOs :P ) then it is actually dangerous to get on the road without getting some practice first.
I think our lives are running parallel. I am also doing my licence training here in Ontario. Here for 10 hrs classroom or online lesson + 10 hrs homework + 12 hours driving lessons they charge 732$ which is super expensive.However, after getting certificate of the course we get benefit in insurance.
750€ in FRANCE is the LOWEST to find.

Dude, I spent the bare minimum US$ 1000 in the UAE to get a license, no automatic, only manual, and they do test your gear to speed matching timings along with a 1000 other things. Passing rate is barely 5-7 a day.

Here in Texas, you need to take 6 hour online course and give a online test at the end of the course ($40). You'll get a learners permit after completing this course($35). And for the permanent DL you need to give a driving test($33). Aashish you definitely don't need a driving school, save some money.
