- Join us for this 4k virtual tour of Bordeaux on the Garonne River in southwest France. We feel it's the most beautiful city in France. Experience local life on as if you were there. This walks shows all that to See in 1 Day / Bordeaux en 1 jour.
Filmed in April, we start our slow tv walking tour in front of the iconic La Grosse Cloche (Great Bell) on Rue Saint-James just off Cours Victor Hugo.
Rue Saint-James is just one of many streets we'll wander where you'll find great coffee shops, restaurants and independent boutiques.
We enter Place Fernand Lafargue, a popular area for nightlife before turning right onto Rue Sainte-Colombe with it's shaded outdoor bars. Turning up Rue du Pas-Saint-Georges, and then Rue du Palais de l'Ombrière, we discover Place du Palais, site of Porte Cailhau - the historic gate with it's incredible facade.
This impressive arch leads us out onto the Quai Richelieu - and the banks of the Garonne River. Here we see the Pont de Pierre (Stone Bridge) that connects the East and West sides of the City.
We follow the river, though not as far as the Place de la Bourse and
Le Miroir D'Eau - instead our walk takes us back across the road by the Charles Dickens Pub and along Rue de la Cour des Aides to the
site of Église Saint-Pierre. This church is surrounded by great places to eat, drink and be entertained.
We follow Rue Parlement Saint-Pierre to Place du Parlement with it's much photographed fountain before heading to Rue Sainte-Catherine, Bordeaux's mots famous shopping street and often said to be the longest pedestrian street in Europe.
We finish our walk by visiting Place de la Comedie, seeing the Opéra National de Bordeaux on our right, the Intercontinental Bordeaux Le Grand Hôtel on our left (Bordeaux's most famous hotel) and seeing Carrousel Palace 1900, the city's colourful merry-go-round attraction on Allées de Tourny.
A slow walk through the city's sights and history has to be first on the list of the free top 10 things to do in Bordeaux France.

Un jour je pense partir dans les p'tits villages du sud-ouest, chopper un stabilisateur et juste filmer les bourgades peu touristiques comme ça je fais combo : ASMR bruits de la nature, Histoire médiévale, guide touristique et street simulator. XD

Thanks SW, yes we knew we'd like it but were surprised just how beautiful it was. I'd highly recommend it if you get the chance to visit. The info about the gopro and gimbal we use is listed more fully in our description at the bottom of each video. What we use is not very big and we've been really very happy with it all round. Nice clear video. You must have a good expensive camera 🎥. This city 🌃 seems super clean 🧼 compare to Nantes and Paris. Anger st laud, Le Mans and Bordeaux are the best cities.

Hey there! What's your set up for this video? I see you use a gopro and stabilizer, but the stabilizer is for iphone. Are you carrying the stabilizer or gopro on a stabilizer? Is there an external mic for this video?
Hi Natu, well observed we had to adapt the stabiliser to fit the gopro. Now we use the osmo pocket which I must admit is generally preferable. Although we did get some rather good stabilisation with the gopro and stabiliser setup.

Je suis bordelais belle ville, cout de la vie trés chère, beaucoup de SDF,
Rues dangereuses la nuit,
Trés difficile de communiquer avec quelqu'un qu'on ne connait pas au hazard d'une promenade.
Les bordelais ont la réputation d'avoir une mentalité trés renfermée, pas du tout ouvert d'ésprit.
Restant sur une communauté bourgeoise qui possède la majorité des biens immobiliés de la ville, logement trés difficiles à obtenir en location ...
Pour finir, une trés belle ville å visiter pendant 3 jours, et ensuite si vous voulez rester dans la région, il est préferable d'habiter aux environs de Bordeaux ... Par exemple, Villenave, Pessac, Merignac, Le Haillan
Le véritable bonheur se trouve, dans la proximité de l'Océan, des plages faisant partie des plus belles du monde, sans pour autant être celebres ni trop tourisitques.
La nature sauvage est omniprésente dés qu'on s'éloigne de Bordeaux,
Il y a des Lacs partout, des pistes cyclables à perte de vue, des promenades magnifiques.

Viens vivre sur Metz où le nombre de sdf se compte tous les 5 mètre. Ne parlons même pas de la mentalité des lorrains. J'ai vécu 8 ans sur Nancy et bientôt 6 ans sur Metz et c'est une horreur sans compter le temps gris, le froid et la canicule l'été. J'ai décidé de m'installer sur Bordeaux cette année et aucun commentaire ne pourra m'en dissuader après avoir expérimentée 2 ville pourries. Préparez vous ! J'arrive !!!😁

It's neither of those sadly, it sounds quiet in the video for some reason but it ain't. And it only looks well organized in the center, it's an all other mess around it.

IParis is not France and France is not Paris, that's what we say here. There are a lot of beautiful cities in France, we wouldn't have enough of a life to visit them.

You cannot compare them, Bordeaux urban area is 1,2 million, Paris area is 12 million, they have different purpose as cities in France and also different issues. :)

What a beautiful old city. So much history there and it's so well preserved. I have only passed by around the outskirts on my way to Spain a few times. Next time I must spend some time in the centre.

Random Walk bordeaux is considered as a rich city by french people because of wine industry (it’s a little bit true) but they don’t understand that rich is not expensive, indeed bordeaux isn’t more expensive than other french cities (except paris of course)

A city with minimal green area, too touristy, too commercialized, too familiar and too old. I guarantee you the back alleys are messy like hell. Europe mostly was great for possibly 40 years ago. We were about booking our trip to France, thanks to videos like this, we changed our minds. We’d highly rather visit Asia now: vibrant yet ancient, sophisticated and diverse. Compare India, Vietnam, Indonesia, Thailand, Japan or China with this tourist trap. Thanks but no.

I agree that Bordeaux lacks green areas. But when I go to Bordeaux, it's going to be for things that Bordeaux is known and the things that make it rather unique. An example of that is how like the city of Bath in England, so much of Bordeaux has been built throughout the ages using the local creamy limestone that you see in this video. Like Bath too, central Bordeaux has many townhouses and buildings that were built between the mid 1700s and early 1800s. And since Bordeaux wasn't bombarded during WWII, central Bordeaux is a great example of a well preserved city center full of neo-classical architecture. The downside to facades built with or covered in stone masonry of such light color is that they need to be regularly cleaned by professional stone cleaning companies, and unlike Paris which seems to have a city ordinance to clean its many limestone buildings on a regular basis, Bordeaux must not because only in the last decade or two, most of the facades were almost black, but I hear Bordeaux has been and continues to undergo a restoration of its limestone facades. So my point is, different people look for different things in travel, such as history or architecture from a particular era, or a city that prospered heavily from the wine industry. Happy travels to Asia. When I do go to Asia, I won't be looking for a city centre full of limestone architecture from the 18th century, nor a city with a long history of wine culture and commerce. Lastly, read up on how wealthy Chinese go crazy for Bordeaux and its surrounding vineyards. I guess its true that the grass is always greener on the other side.
