OMG where have you been all my life?? Literally just answered all my questions in one short video. Not only that each look with the Bella Canvas shirts are perfect and what I have dreamed of my shirts to look like. Well now that 7 years have pasted are any of you still around? Can I hire you, pick your brains all of the above????
Great vid! Thanks for the tips. Do you recommend spraying a drizzle of water over the back-flood after every 5 shirts? I heard this over some group of guys talking about silkscreen printing with water based ink. They spray a drizzle of water before they put ink onto the screen then spray a drizzle again after 5-8 shirts. Does it work?
Cool video. The camera moves around a lot so it is hard to tell - how does the flat white come out on the CVC and triblends? It looks pretty solid - but is there heathering? I like B+C shirts, and prefer the CVC's and triblends because they are much more comfortable, but also want to get into discharge printing, and from what I understand, you can't really get a solid color discharge with poly blends. Thanks!
What inks are you using to print on the triblends? Do you find that Bella triblends react better to discharge inks than some of the other brands? Are you adding any low cure additives to your ink? I've had issues with shrinking Next Level triblends in the dryer. Tried adjusting temp but can't seem to dial it in? What dryer are you using and what's your temp and time setting? Sorry for the flood of questions. Love what you guys do at Deluxe!!
Hi Kico, although I can't give out our source, its best to use an ink designed for 50/50, to give you some added protection if needed from dye migration and we don't add additives to the ink. We haven't experienced much shrinkage issues with Next level. We use a gas dryer dialed in at 350 degrees, which will yield a 320 cure at the end of the belt. But keep in mind, for poly blend fabrics you don't need such a high cure rate. So you can lower temp or speed up the belt, and that should help with shrinkage. Check with the ink your using for recommended cure temp. I would recommend buying a laser temp reader to get a reading of the ink, as first sign of it coming out of the oven. You may be running too hot for the fabric type. I'm also wondering one thing.. is the print shrinking or the actual shirt? Just a thought, that if your pallet is too big, it will cause the shirts to stretch, but once taken off, the shirt will shrink back, but the print will also shrink because it was originally stretched.
Thank you so much for the reply! I do think the oven may be running too hot. Especially for triblend fabrics. It sounds like curing temp might be the key to the process for discharge and/or waterbase ink on blended fabrics.
You're welcome!......Yes, for discharge inks or waterbase, curing temp, and time.. which should be about a 1:20 secs should evaporate moisture. We find they're black heather line to be the best at discharging, since it has a high cotton content.
How in the world are you getting discharge white water base on poly blend cvc heather black? My white looks like mud brown almost burnt every time after conveyor dryer 2 min 320 degrees. Makes no sense. I tried a dozen different variations and nothing works or comes out how yours did.
Deluxe doesn't disclose the brands they work with, but we recommend checking in with your local screen printing supply company for recommendations on quality inks.
