Excellent video 👏🏼 watching this show felt like watching one of the most important pieces of fashion history ever. So poetic, emotional, layered, brutal, romantic, etc. So iconic 👌🏼
There are so many layers to the show and I find more details that just stun me! ❤️Galliano doesn’t just use fabric and form like other designers, he uses materials that defy naming and live in the realm of dreams! Galliano, the alchemist king 👑
So many fantastic details. From the clothes to choice of venue. The shadows the models gave in the tunnel outside the venue. The individual choreography for each model to create a unique identity (such as the male model with pearls hanging out of a trouser pocket, as he kept looking around suspiciously like he was avoiding the police), Pat's inspiring porcelain doll makeup. The shoes! And Gwendoline Christie at the finale.
You perception of the details is astounding!!! I love the jewellery tucked into the pantyhose also. The seams sewn to look like raindrops or the melded cuffs of trousers, meant to look like the pants were sodden and wet! Such a spectacular show, on every level! Thank you for sharing in this moment with me! We are clearly kindred souls ❤️❤️❤️

Galliano is mesmeric…only a few have that effect. This was an amazing show. He pressed the reset button spectacularly. I was reminded of why I was convinced many years ago that fashion at its highest transcends disposable and seasonal trend. It’s art and when woven through with intellectual force makes it all the more compelling and worthy of emotional investment. You have added beautifully to my understanding of this show. Thank you.

Simply stunning.
This artistic performance showcases the genuine talent of a rare polymath who is capable of blending the art of storytelling with exquisite tailoring. It is a study in character of darkness and vulnerability portrayed by these discarded dolls. Their unique situation seems to convey one of those rare universal theme of human condition that really tugs at the heart strings of the audience and seems to have woven themselves into the dolls. It suddenly feels the puppets are now controlling the puppeteers. I am fascinated by their decrepit beauty which-don’t laugh-really reminds me of those immortal characters from Elden Ring….I can see Queen Rennala’s porcelain face in these models…Miyazaki would be very pleased with this collection. Thank you for the historical information and explanation of this show’s key influences! I now have something to read and keep me awake during our teams meetings 😂

I was floored by your voice and your analysis, writing, is poetic and really seems like you have such a deep understanding of this… but you killed me when you suddenly went out of the world you are describing and decided to call out a “genocide”. I wonder if it also made you feel how the women that were raped and paraded by hamas relate to this? Or what women suffer in the world period? I would say that you should say whatever you want, it’s the beauty of having your own channel, but i would perhaps recommend that if you want to speak about fashion and how it relates to the humanity in us, then consider that there are many of us, and not all of us have managed to recover from the actual genocide of the last century. So much support to you, but please open up to take in even more than you already are.

Some of the elements presented in this collection also reminds me of the goddess Hecate, who granted protection to her worshippers that were considered as outcasts of society like witches, vagabonds. Her many symbols include crossroads and caves including tunnels where she often hid during the day and is associated with her protection. She also guided Demeter down the tunnels to find Persephone and thus became a childbirth goddess. The deeper I delve into this mesmerizing collection, the more enchanting traces of its mythological inspirations I uncover.
The make-up and doll like movements seems like it drew heavy inspiration from Fellini's Casanova. The film is around male gaze conquering female beauty, something which is unconquerable. It's a story of desire and lust, which is much like the stage of Galliano's show, falling into this haze as some fantastical body calls before you. I like the idea that these poetic characters are SWs, Queer outcasts and Trans people thriving in world's only they could create.

You're take on Brassaï as touchstone seems right on the money, particularly given the seductive chiaroscuro quality that that makes his B & W photos so wonderfully distinctive. Galliano imparts that same visceral, light-and-shadow romanticism to the settings here , though of course the proceeding are in color. (This may be the first fashion show I've seen where I'm left wondering what it might look like in B&W.) That said, I wish you'd spoken more about the implicit late Victorian era that the settings / outfits suggest. We're looking at a demi-monde of hustlers, vagrants, vagabonds and prostitutes - no question about that, but they seem to belong to the late 1800s. The eerie porcelain doll visage the models display is not merely suggestive of "dollness" but also of the antique. This isn't mere retro fashion. This is different. Is he suggesting that something about the present is moving backwards?
Your in-depth analysis of this masterpiece is equally as riveting. I conquer with all your insights and emotion regarding the outcast, the female body, the genocide in Palestine etc. Thank you , thank you and thank you x

This Defile' was fantastic, as anybody can plainly see, but I've got a petty question: Since Margiela makes excellent shoes, both for quality, wearability, size range and originality ( I know that because I've 5 pairs made by them, all bought in the last 10 years), why didn't they make them themselves?
I am not sure tbh, I think it might have to do with the fact that tabis have to be soled by the wearer, and that it’s a couture show, maybe to elevate them into a new category and to create a sense of exclusivity. I recently got my dream dream dream pair! ❤️

I see a lot of nods to Toulouse Lautrec whom Brassaï was hugely inspired by, Leigh Bowery, and Mr. Pearl.
Mr pearl is the original!!! Love your insight, thank you!!! So many layers to this show, I could literally steep in the references!!! I think the toulouse gestural body suits with the tiered Vapor dresses was one of my favourite passages! Leigh Bowery isn’t as apparent to me here, but he is a major cultural touchstone for British club kids and Pat, John, et Al have referenced him many times!!! ❤️

The Greatest is Mcqueen then Galiano imo.
I love this conversation because there are so many metrics to measure the greatest by! Since Galliano is still creating we can’t really compare him to McQueen unfortunately, his savage beauty exhibition at the met was the most successful show in the museums history though! If that is the metric then McQueen is the greatest of all time. Galliano will have a show like that in the future but let’s pray that it’s in the distant future! Anything by Galliano fetches insane sums in the resale market, and I mean anything! If that is the metric then there isn’t any designer living or not that can compare with the hunger that people have for his products! Especially his Dior products! Maybe coco Chanel and Karl Lagerfeld could raise a strong argument for their cultural influence in the resale market too! I just think that most Chanel products have the added strength of branding so it gives their products a boost in the resale markets as many people want garments that are conspicuously designer pieces! Logomania for example! I believe that Galliano is the greatest of all time but I welcome all perspectives ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
