Just did a WBAC test on a Clubsport45 - Retailing on trader at £47790 with just under 3000 miles... WBAC offered 34240.... £13.5k below retail... Holy Moly... Have noticed just in the last week or so that the WBAC valuations seem to have adjusted and now offer much lower valuations compared to just a month or so ago. Even the focus rs retailing at £32k (inflated by the boom) wbac now offer £24k-£26k a few weeks ago they where offering £30k. someone has updated their algorithm I thinks...
The F1SS are a great tyre and not too firm on 18’s, how you finding them?. . I put a set on my 7.5R and the handling performance is spot on 👍 Did you go for the manual GTiI by any chance, I know Sam is waiting patiently to review one on his channel 😎

Great video, cars looks and sounds amazing. This will be a real collector’s item in a very short space of time. Nice to see two petrol heads giving such an honest appraisal of the car. These videos are priceless when trying to buy a new car. The owner Ben was very shroud getting into a 45. They are already increasing in value. You usually lose a massive wedge when driving it away from the dealer. Not the case here well done on an amazing looking car, & thanks Sam taking time to review it.

It is relatively speaking good value but the problem with this spec is the premium “road tax” even though I hate that term as a cyclist. That put many off ordering. It doesn’t just stop at that initial outlay. It’s the yr 2-6 at an additional £335 x 5 for the over 40k list price.
Yes the road tax is a bit of a shame for cars over the 40K mark. It does seem we are being priced out of cars with tax such as this in the UK so for sure we have to enjoy them whilst we can. Its a good point though and you can have a nicely specified standard Clubsport for under the £40,000 mark over a 45 🤔
Not being funny as I’ve ordered a new mk8 r myself and it’s well over £40k . But if your buying a car at that price you really shouldn’t be moaning about an extra £300 plus a year to tax it
@@davefletcher339 fair point, moaning? Not sure it was a moan, it was more a comment that many on forums are trying to avoid that VED pitfall. It’s a small figure in grand picture I agree.
Great review of the Clubsport 45 Sam. . .another feather in your cap as the channel grows from strength to strength 💪 for me the CS45 is the pick of the Mk8 bunch for exclusivity and that oval akra exhaust looks the business and sounds pretty racey 👍😎

You'll love the step up to the clubsport. I've heard there is not too much different between a MK7/7.5 GTI and a MK8 GTI as the power is the same. You'll notice the difference for sure with a clubsport. Many congrats on your order btw 🙂

I would say you have a fantastic MK7.5 GTI Performance and that is such a great all round car. The MK8 45 Edition will offer more although I am not sure myself if it is worth an extra 21k euro's on top of your current car in terms of the differences. MK8 45's are coming down in price so potentially over time the price gap might be less and as a result it may be worth the switch when the price difference is smaller. It is certainly worth having a test drive in one to see what you think as the 45 is a great car for sure 👍

I'm def excited to test it out but indeed it's not worth the extra 21k euro above my current one in my opinion. Might wait to drop in price or look for a MK7.5 TCR edition as you've mentioned since I really like the MK7.5 Volkswagen. Interior and exterior wise they are so much better than the MK8!

For the price difference it should be 🙈 In de youtube videos the sound is hard to experience. Hopefully my delivery will be on time around december. Thank you for the feedback! The akra sounded special but did not seem any louder than the standard exhaust on the Clubsport. The best way I can describe it is that it sounds a bit more "premium" in its tone plus its full titanium so a great piece of kit. Ah kings red is a great choice and many congrats on your order! Thanks for your reply/experience. My current car 'Abarth spider 124' sounds and drives fantastic. So if i understand correctly my wife's Golf clubsport 45 will not be my competition? Definitely not the exhaust 😂 I would rather have an Golf R. My wife wanted to have a red car,hence the purchase of de clubsport 45.
It happens in Nürburgring mode and race mode on the car. This is a 2021 car and manufacturers seem to have worked out how to get the best of the noise with all the filters in place. Between 2018-2020 most cars sounded very quiet whilst companies like VW had the filters suddenly forced on them but this one sounds great 👍

Akrapovic exhaust, 19" Wheels with red pin stripe, black roof, black door mirrors, 45 decals on the side panels and badge on the steering wheel + the 45 is a limited run car 👍
Overall love the car like all GTI's and would have been my choice if going for a FWD golf or if the mk8 R didn't exist. Though the i30N does appeal to me. On the other hand not a fan of: The matte/fady plastics around the outside aren't great and only worsens over time. (especially if you have a black car) It is a pity about the tiny paddle shifts, definitely would swap them out for the R oem ones. That wheelspin though.

My standard GTI came with Eagle F1s on the 18” Richmonds Sam !!

If you can get a MK7 40th Edition GTI they are one of my favourite cars and offer great value 👍
Or the MK7.5 GTI TCR as this also for me is slightly more special than the 45 Edition.

Sam you can do a video on my mk8 r, it’s got so many faults it’s embarrassing, Vw say it needs a software update, but they don’t have one.
