Great sounds. This dude is a trip. I loved the tones and song composition.... then I checked out the complete package and was happier just hearing him.
It is really annoying. I mean, sure you can learn it, but in 2020 we should not be using this 30-year-old tech just because it is "standard". No guitar effects manufacturer has had the balls to reinvent this category. The entire guitar effects industry needs to be re-thought.
After these series I feel like I really need a set like yours hahaha Sef, could you tell us your chain? Cos there are more than 8 pedals(obvious). Congrats on your very good job (band and tutorials). Cheers from Brazil
with the 12 assign functions, can the ES-8 take expression pedal input and send that out via MIDI as CC data to an AxeFx or other midi effects unit? this box is super powerful. it looks like it even has built in LFOs in it?!?!?
When you have two amps running through the ES-8 and there both on, do you have to Ground/Lift one of the amps? Or will it be ok to leave normal with both amps grounded?
That was great SEF! Cool sounds and easy to follow instructions. Love that your into what you do! Just got my ES8. Are you using the Distortion channel on any of your amps? I currently run a Orange Rockerverb but have Ceriatone HMR Overtone Special being shipped today. I would love to run in stereo but still utilize the distortion on the amps. I wonder how I would set that up and if it's possible.
Thank you Scott! On the second video, I'm using the ES-8 to switch channel on my Orange Thunderverb 200 (clean sound and distortion one!)! I'm showing as well how to use the "4 Method Cable" to send effects at the amp input and in the FX LOOP of the amp! To use two amps and being able to use the distortion of your amp it's possible but in this setup do you want to use a distortion pedal for your another amp?? Let me know! Cool to talk with you Scott!!!
SEF YFE I would love to run both amps in stereo and use the distortion either on the Orange or my new amp or if possible both. I have run the 4 cable method with other multi effects units such as the Boss GT100 with a Analog Man KOT up front and had the GT 100 send commands to change the channel on my Orange. I guess I'm trying to visualize how to wire both amps up. If I'm limited to having just one of the amps Distortion channel and run a distortion pedal on the amp I could live with that. Is that doable with the Boss ES8? My pedals will be a Wampler Ego Compressor, Thorpy Cloud Fuzz, Analog Man KOT, Wampler Dual Fusion and Two Eventide H9 Max. I really appreciate you responding! Thanks, Scott
For sure you can via the External Control jack output of the ES-8. You have CTL 1/2, CTL 3/4, CTL 5/6 on the ES-8... 6 external controls if you're using stereo jacks or 3 if you're using mono cable (check the owner's manual, you'll see!). You can use for example the CTL 1/2 for the Orange ("channel" input of the head) and CTL 3/4 for the new amp (there's a input on this head to plug a footswitch to change the channel? If yes, plug it there!). After that,on the ES-8: + you go to the page of the Ext. Ctl (CTL 1, CTL2, CTL 3, CTL 4, CTL 5, CTL 6) + Set the external control you're using to "Latch" ! After that, you press "Dispay/Exit" switch of the ES-8 and you go to the page of the External Control (CTL 1, CTL 2...) You can switch between "on" or "off" (You'll see that it's going to change the channel on you ramp! You can save this setting of the Ext. Control "on" or "off" for each patch of the ES-8!! It's not over because you can assign a switch on your ES-8 to change the channel of your amps!! I explain all this (with a visual support) on the second tutorial video! If you need help, please ask me!! Enjoy man!!
can two separate loops be programmed, each to go to separate amps in one button function? for example: hit button number 1 and send the delay and the reverb to amp number one, and in the same button number 1 send the distortion and different reverb to amp number two?
that is ridiculous! i keep having this sound in my head with a super clean compressed chorus tone, and in parallel to that have an absolutely screaming lead tone with delay and reverb but with a volume pedal at the end of the chain, and be able to noodle around with the clean and swell in this banshee scream in the background that then just disappears periodically
Hey See, is there any way I can get some guidance on how to use this functionality? After a year, I've finally purchased an ES-8 but can't find anything deeper on how to send different effects to different amps in one patch.@@SefLemelinOfficial Cheers mate
Nice video, Sef. One question - does it take a lot of time to save all these different settings in the ES-8? Looks like it need for every song a new setup.
Hey Bud! It depends of what you're playing. For example, if you want to use "MIDI Progrm Change", send "MIDI #CC", the internal expression pedal of the ES-8, it takes some "preparation"... When It's time to "save" those presets, it's freakin quick. For sure, if you have a lot of effects in your songs, many effects changes, you need to programmed the ES-8 but when it's done, dude... It's the perfect solution!
It's another way of working and I respect that. Me, I really dig working with pedals so with this switcher, it gives me all the possibilities to work easily with pedals live!
Hi sef i hope you are fine ,an also the band,i am for manny years a fane from you an your band,i am a 55years old guitar builder hoping that you are coming to play in mine small country Holland,if you neat a special guitar i am wiling to make this for you many greathings from me a fan

Do you have your DD500 and Timeline in the same loop together?
U're the best, Brother !!!! :)
Can effects be applied to 2 separate amps on the same patch... Like a comp & dirt to 1 amp and say a chorus & delay to another at the same time?
When you have two amps running through the ES-8 and there both on, do you have to Ground/Lift one of the amps? Or will it be ok to leave normal with both amps grounded?
Great sounds!...
What distortion was used?...
Thank you! The distortion is the Big D from Homebrew Electronics!
SEF YFE thanks!..

With the new upgrade of the ES-8 (Ves. 2.00) yes!!
cool!

nice nice

I love your passion, my beared bro ;-)
all the time it takes to set up the presets on the ES8 is well worth it.
Guy, just take an AxeFx 2XL and play your instrument ;p
It's another way of working and I respect that. Me, I really dig working with pedals so with this switcher, it gives me all the possibilities to work easily with pedals live!
