I've been watching financial/minimalist RUclipsrs for over a year now. And at some point I stopped getting new information; most of the videos repeat the same thing. But Augustine still manages to surprise me with fresh and bold ideas.
haha, I'm trying my best! You have to get really creative to constantly be thinking of new topics! I get bored when I'm not learning anything when making them. For the very least, I try to pack them with jokes on certain topics!
I totally agree as I have the same experience. Which is why I mainly watch his videos. Other youtubers just say the same ideas in different uploads as if we haven't heard that from them before.
These videos are so motivating. I have a habit of wasting money on minimum wage - 4 credit cards, junk food, cheap clothes - I even bought a car for $12k on finance a couple months ago spur of the moment 😭 I owe around $23k in total. A couple weeks ago I decided enough is enough and I started planning and making spreadsheets/budgets. I’ve only had 2 paydays (fortnight) since I decided to start being more frugal and managing money better and I was excited when last week I had $50 left at the end instead of $-100. This is the first time in a LONG time this has happened. Years. I cant wait to see how much I can put away at the end of this pay cycle (got paid yesterday and everything’s paid, but I’ll never believe how much is left until the NEXT payday!)
Thanks guys! I am pleased to say I haven't lost motivation yet, long ways to go but I have paid off the smallest credit card already and am tackling the next smallest one now, so still quietly trucking along! ❤
I'm so happy I made productive decisions about my finances that changed forever. I'm a single mother living in Vancouver Canada, bought my first house in October and hoping to retire soon if things keep going smoothly for me.
Everyone needs more than their salary to be financial stable. The best thing to do with your money is to invest it rightly, because money left for saving always end up used with no returns.
Am looking for something to venture into on a short term basis, I really need to create an alternate source of income, what do you think I should be buying?
I use dryer sheets ONLY when I'm drying items made from synthetic fabrics which get all staticky in the dryer. Otherwise, I agree, they are not necessary. I use white vinegar instead of fabric softener in the washer and clothes come out fresh and clean. Now about storage units: they are useful for storing a son's belongings while he's deployed in the military and in-between homes. They are useful for storing a deceased family members belongings until the grief subsides and you feel ready to deal with the belongings. They are useful for storing a family's belongings while living in a hotel or apartment until you find just the right home to live in permanently. A storage unit is useful for temporary situations, but shouldn't be used just because you have too much to fit in your permanent home.
They are "fabric softener" sheets. They soften your clothes as well as fight static cling. 2 tbsp of white vinegar in the rinse cycle of your washing machine, accomplishes the same thing and makes your clothes brighter. No smell at all.
Yeah, another reason why I don't use fabric softener or vinegar during a rinse cycle or whatever is because I don't like having to rush back-and-forth to the washing machine. I only go back to the washing machine when I'm washing whites to add the bleach once the washer is filled with water.
I save so much money living in a walkable city with good public transportation. A public transport ticket is 30 euros a month in Vienna, Austria and there's really no need for a car in the city. I dont have a dryer either, which keeps energy costs way down and gives my clothes a longer life span. On the other hand, taxes and the cost of services are pretty high.
Managing money is different from accumulating wealth, and the lack of investment education in schools may explain why people struggle to maintain their financial gains. The examples you provided are relevant, and I personally benefited from the market crisis, as I embrace challenging times while others tend to avoid them. Well, at least my advisor does too, jokingly.
Investors should exercise caution with their exposure and exercise caution when considering new investments, particularly during periods of inflation. It is advisable to seek guidance from a professional or trusted advisor in order to navigate this recession and achieve potential high yields.
This is superb! Information, as a noob it gets quite difficult to handle all of this and staying informed is a major cause, how do you go about this are you a pro investor?
Due to my demanding job, I lack the time to thoroughly assess my investments and analyze individual stocks. Consequently, for the past seven years, I have enlisted the services of a fiduciary who actively manages my portfolio to adapt to the current market conditions. This strategy has allowed me to navigate the financial landscape successfully, making informed decisions on when to buy and sell. Perhaps you should consider a similar approach.
My CFA ’Melissa Terri Swayne’ , a renowned figure in her line of work. I recommend researching her credentials further. She has many years of experience and is a valuable resource for anyone looking to navigate the financial market.
Baby boomer here. I spent my career developing software… the latest working to make text-to-911 possible. I never rented a modem. It’s much cheaper to buy one. Dryer sheets are fabric softener for the dryer. I absolutely hate the smell. I use woolen balls. They accelerate drying and basically have the same effect as dryer sheets without the stink. I’ve always gone with credit unions instead of banks, because there are no fees. No storage unit for me.
Hey youngster, I “Is” a baby boomer watching your video on an iPad that I bought in 2014 and I work on an 2014 iMac. Both are still going strong after 10 years! I bought my own router and even set up my own internet! Now, my 86 year old dad, bless his heart, is often flummoxed about his cable service and his computer. So he calls me and I help him. . . lol sort of teasing you but all the above is true!
Wow awesome to see that someone has figured out that sometimes buying the expensive product is actually cheeper in the end. See in 10 years you’ve bought 1 computer. If it had been a $300-$400 windows laptop I bet you would have bought 3 or more of them in that same time period. 😊I’ll gladly pay the apple premium for higher quality and a better user experience and then learn how to upgrade or repair things using third party ram hard drives etc for a fraction of apples upgrade price.
Regarding the single serving product, I used to think it was always better to buy the option where the cost per mass or volume was less, but there are cases like when you do not consume much of the item, the item is perishable, you are trying it out, etc. where it is better to just buy the one where you are paying less at the moment even if the cost per amount is more. This change in mindset, ir at least analyzing each case particularily, has actually helped me be more intentional and save money. Just sharing this perspective in case anyone needs it.
I have had many opened large jars of apple sauce with that lovely furry dark mold in it. I do buy the small containers and it stays in the back of the fridge until I throw it out…
It is hysterical how you group all baby boomers like some of them are not attorneys and politicians and doctors and scientists and computer technicians.

Totally agree with you on most of these things. In defense of Apple, even though something like a Macbook Air at $1500 seems expensive, they last a long time and provide an excellent user experience. When I went with cheaper PC laptops I would replace them every 2-3 years. My previous Macbook Pro I used from 2013 to 2021 and it still works fine. My old Dell and HP laptops would never get close to that kind of longevity. Also, you can get Apple refurbs at a very reasonable price. I don't like the Apple snobbery, like looking down on people with Android phones, but I also do enjoy the user experience of their computers far above what you get from cheap PC laptops.
In defense of Apple as well, the built in security is a huge positive . I don't have Apple for my personal phone but I do for my work phone. I will make the switch when the time comes. I have had too many data breeches on my Android.
The problem with Apple is you can't upgrade to the latest os. No matter if it meets the requirements. They go by the year it is. On the PC, the year it is is not an issue. You need to buy a quality PC rather than those $300 ones. That's why you keep replacing every 3 years. And you don't need to pay $1500 for a laptop. You can spend half of that for a PC that will last just as long. I had my desktop PC since 2014. And paid $500 for it then.
@@fueledbymusic3if you look back you can upgrade most/all Macs to the latest OS version for maybe 5-7 years or so. And after that you will most likely get security updates for 1-2 years at least. And after that, all or most apps will work with the OS version that you're using. You don't truly need the exactly latest OS version. And then it's maybe time for buying a new Mac anyway, or a PC? A worse problem with Macs is that you cannot upgrade RAM when you've bought your machine. You're stuck with that 8 GB RAM forever, or 16 GB or more depending on the configuration that you choosed so choose wisely! PC and Mac are different. There's only a few Mac models and Apple wanna sell new hardware and they can do it if they "force" us to upgrade. For PC you got Microsoft that will get most money from Windows. And there's a possibility that "your PC" will be supported by future Windows longer than if you bought a Mac. But you can use most Macs for 10+ years, it's a very minor problem. I don't defend either Mac or PC. Just being realistic. Both worlds got their advantages. If you want a gaming PC you should avoid Mac and go for a good gaming PC. Just look at the gaming PCs that many Twitch streamers are using... and there's other configuations for your needs. Macs are not built in the same way as PCs. And there's almost impossible to buy a new Mac for less than 1000 dollar. I know about Mac mini sub-1000 dollar but it's so little RAM and SSD for sub-1000 dollar and also no keyboard and no mouse... and even if you're sub-1000 you're close to 1000! And I don't defend Apple by having only 8 GB RAM and you cannot even upgrade it. It's a "RAM scam". Pick at least 16 GB RAM for any Mac! You have to accept Apple's (current) business model. Until 2012 you could upgrade RAM for all Macs, that was great! It's just so sad that you cannot do that anymore. Also sad about the internal storage and I don't defend that, but at least you can add external storage. Apple's business model is to make huge profits from the RAM/SSD upgrades for their latest Macs. That's why the base models are so underpowered with mainly 8 GB RAM and 256 GB SSD. This will probably work great for a few customers but not all...
I totally agree with all these, but you got me with going into the gas station, this 60 yr. Old loves her slurpies, but in hawaii most of the machines are broken, so avoid the disappointment and not go in and I don’t need them anyway. Also this falls into giving up soda lol
My 9 year old got a good giggle out of “Tesla is a personality type” in one of your videos 😅 So he hooked me on your videos and I binge watched a bunch last night. I haven’t found one about cell phone bills - maybe there is one - but I have to say people look at me funny when I say I pay $15 a month for my phone service (for 10 years now), they ask questions but then continue with “eehhhh it sounds sketchy” 🤦🏻♀️ Nowhere in the world people pay as much as they pay in the US for their cell phone bill, EVEN WHEN they are amazing affordable alternatives. Blows my mind.
I'm in an apartment complex that requires us to purchase a Spectrum technology package. It is not optional and added to our monthly rent at $110 a month. I don't even need, want, or use the services. I didn't know about this before I signed the lease unfortunately. Honestly it feels like I'm being robbed of my hard earned money
How could you not know Spectrum was required before you signed the lease? You read it, right? Something is not right here. Maybe contact the housing authority in your area for assistance.
@@juliemarkham4332 it was not listed on the website as a required thing, only "wi fi and cable ready." When I originally talked with the leasing office, it was not mentioned either. They only declared the fees for the background check, the credit check, and the deposit. They didn't even tell me the deposit could only be a money order either until an hour before my lease signing. I've always put large expenses on a credit card or paid cash. When I got to the leasing office, that's when they presented the full breakdown of the costs. Only the "base" cost of the apartment was presented on the website but was actually much more per month. There is also a mandatory $10 parking fee per month per car & a $28 mandatory trash pickup fee, also not disclosed as "required" prior to the lease signing (only as available amenities). Dumpsters are easily accessible all over & I could easily handle my own trash for free. So you think you're paying one price but are blindsided at the lease signing. They will not let you opt out of the technology package or the trash service. By this time I already had well over $1,000 invested in procuring the apartment, so I was basically stuck
I own a condo, and cable is included in my HOA fees. Apparently, the cable company and the developer entered into some foreever contract when the complex was built.
Unfortunately it’s becoming an all to common occurrence where a developer turns to a utility provider to install the utility for FREE during the build, but it locks the tenant/ home owner into that service provider for the next 10-15 yrs, if not any longer… 😮
Agreed about most points. Factory refurbished or secondhand mint condition Apple devices are more bang for the buck. I’m still using my 2013 MBP and it rocks - mega longevity and quality.
This! I have a refurbished 2015 MacBook Air I spent $600 on that I purchased in 2018. It’s still going strong. I’m also using a 5 yo iPhone XR. The products tend to last if taken care of.
You're adorable! Have got around 20 years on you and wish i knew this stuff when i was younger. Thankfully saw the light and paid off debt like student loan and credit cards and trimmed the fat like subscriptions, eating out and all that. My simple dialed down lifestyle may seem dull as dishwater to some I know, but worth it for cutting stress and the need to work long hours.
I don't understand the whole cable fascination and I'm a boomer. I got rid of my landline in 2002 and got rid of my tv and cable in 2004. If I want to watch something online is simply the way to go. Think of all the money I've saved over two decades. As for storage units? Nope! Never had them. Never will. I started down the road to minimalism in 2008. Love my life with no need for storage units. I own exactly what I love, need and use.
I’m a boomer 64. Cut cable back in 2004. Internet and you tube for entertainment and library for free rented videos at the time only this recently subscribed to Netflix . Owned cable modem forever monthly fees are horrible. I wanted a financial advisor when I was young 20’s and starting out with 10k and had no idea about investments. They basically laughed at me, seriously, and said come back when you have like 100k. Well I went to the library self educated. Now with 7 digit portfolio they come after me. And I tell them now I don’t need you. Funny right when I needed them they said f#*k off. Now they need commission from me and I surely don’t need them I’m not that ignorant to come out and say f#*k off but I sure think it. Lots of good points here but not all baby boomers are out of touch stupid old physically and mentally dolts. As a matter of fact I’m only public school educated but had to teach my college educated kids how the stock market even works and what it is 😂. Even college educated they learned ZERO. Ones a chemical engineer type (son)and the other a glorified secretary degree ( daughter) . But sad they went to college to earn more money and get a better job but came out not having a clue what to do with their big bucks
@@RickMartinRUclips yes agree for people who don’t have a good size portfolio to enjoy it’s almost a necessity to wait until 70. For myself and I choose it myself I’m enjoying s.s. Now not waiting if I waited until 70 to even start collecting I’d be 75 before it even made sense. And I wanna enjoy as much free cash that’s in excess anyway to live a fun life while I’m still healthy and not all crippled up with arthritis just to say one fine day I’ll have extra money from social security to put in my bank account to leave more for my heirs. In my case that would be foolish coz I knew my excess monthly money I’d get and still have plenty every year to still donate and invest because I can’t spend it all. Coz I’m so content in my life thanks be to God. I knew my number and I don’t care if my neighbor or family member has 10x more than me. It just doesn’t matter. I would agree that young people who know zero about investing and don’t have a mom or dad to teach them then they need a fee based only financial planner as you mentioned as long as they can show proof of being a fiduciary.
Dryer sheets soften your clothes, make them smell nice, and reduce static. They do actually have a purpose. You can use liquid fabric softner in the washer instead. If you ever feel ungrateful for modern conveniences, go without a clothes dryer for several years. Please be advised that in certain places your credit card benefits may not cover rental cars. Ireland is one of those places. DO buy the rental car coverage there.
I haven't had a washer/dryer since I've been living in a studio apartment for years. It is SO annoying! That is the first thing I'm getting if I ever can move out of here! I have friends who complain about doing laundry and just roll my eyes because I guarantee that their situation more convenient than going to a laundromat! haha
Having both used Apple and non Apple devices over the years my experience is that Apple products required less futzing around with to do what I need to do. Feels like their newer OS software also supports older hardware so you can make devices last longer. That makes it worth it for me. I also buy refurbished which helps. I think the ultimate frugal approach would be Linux, but a lot of the pro audio software I use for work is not supported there….
I'm not sure where you're getting your Doritos, but here in Central KY, a Party size bag of Doritos is 6.79 regular price. We stopped buying them unless they are on sale with the buy 5 or more sale that makes them 2.99. We load up enough to get us through to the next quarter ( like 15 bags because I have a teen and we go through ATLEAST 1 bag a week) and then refuse to buy anymore until they go back on sale.
Great video. I haven't had cable in over 8 years. Not much of a tv watcher. Others in the house may watch Netflix and that's it. I will comment on the modem rental from the internet provider. I'm a tech of 30 years. If you buy one at the store (I did), your internet co. will not guarantee internet speeds you are paying them for. They will not assist you over the phone at times if you have issues, since the equipment isn't there's. Also, modems will become outdated and you will need to buy one every few years. If you rent, it's almost the same price, and they will need to replace it at no charge if there are issues with it. They can also send firmware (updates) to your modem for you when you call them with issues. They cannot send updates to a modem you bought. When this happened to me, and my modem was outdated, I decided to pay the $12 a month instead of dropping $100 on something they won't help you with if there are issues.
Loved this video Austin! I have been an Apple product user since 2011, but I'm under no illusions that they're a great company. I cannot believe they charge hundreds of dollars to upgrade ram or SSD space on Macs. I always go for a sub-$1000 used model, and since they started putting out the M-chip computers, the Air and Mac Mini are great performance for their value. They smoke every PC in the same price brackets.
Hi Augustine I’m 65 have always had cable. Our daughter and her family of 4 , moved in with us. We sold our house that she grew up in . We moved from the west coast of Canada to the east coast. Bought a house large enough for the 6 of us and we split the cable now, she’s in her 30’s and they had cable. There are still shows I like to watch. We also split the power bill.
I literally agree with everything you said and don't waste money on any of those things. However, we downsized from a large home to a 900 sf house ( love it!), and lived in an RV during the house search/build process. So we needed a storage unit for about a year. You have no idea how much it killed me to make that payment every month! We celebrated when we were finally able to get our stuff out 😂
I find the content in your videos very helpful by providing me with a wealth of insight. I think that telling viewers to avoid the inside of gas stations is very wise and powerful advice. For someone like me, following this advice is the next step toward being that much more frugal. You identified one of my big weaknesses in my financial well-being.
I agree with all of your tips except one: storage unit. Some of us get into situations like the one I'm currently in. I live in a small house with very little storage space. My adult daughter had to move in with me due to a divorce situation. She brought with her a fair amount of stuff she had. I had to give up the spare room and closet, so I rented a storage unit and hopefully it's just temporary. I'd rather pony up the $80 a month for that vs. sitting on boxes, living with clutter, stubbing my toes into piles, etc. Like I said, "temporary". I'm holding on to that word and concept!
Do you already use fabric softener in your wash? I'm asking because I don't use fabric softener in my wash and use the dryer sheets instead of fabric softener.
I only use the indoor climate controlled storage unit where 15 vehicles can drive in the park inside...I psy $26; a month for a 5x5' space. Perfect for my dog to exercise on bad weather days..and made some kindred spirit life long friends!
This. I forgot to put a dryer sheet when I washed my comforter. Let’s just say taking it out of the dryer was one of the worst task ever. I recently got a box of Bounce 240 dryer sheet for $5. That box will easily last me 2-3 years depending on how much laundry I have to do (single and live on my own). I’m fine with that cost.
I think everyone should try to go without. I've noticed no difference, besides fragrance. I used to use the unscented anyway. If you notice a difference, use them if you want; but you might be pleasantly surprised and find no difference like me.
Hello Austin, I hope your move to the south was pleasant. I agree that most older generation are not very up to date with the latest technology. I’ve been out of school for about 30 years. I decided to pursue a new career and found myself learning how to “copy and paste” for an example. My learning curve was so incredibly. I really enjoyed watching videos. Best regards, Greg
My mother is a Baby Boomer as a number of substitute teachers willing to sub at my middle school. Do not overgeneralize because they are all trained and up to date on the technology . Not only that, quite a number have glorious gardens with flowers and vegetables and installed on their own irrigation systems. This is a group of people who went from nothing to being self-made before and during the incorporation of technology into their businesses. They are also traveling off grid, monitoring their health using advanced technologies while keeping track of the stock market, their retirement funds, social security and savings. I am not discounting some of the points expressed in your video, but the young do not seem to understand nor appreciate the middle-aged and older at times and false assumptions may be made.
Apple products work better and at least for me last a very long time. Only upgraded lap top after 10 yrs of using a mac book air to my bmp now. I’ve had it for nearly 4 yrs and plan to keep it for as long as I can which at a minimum will be 6 more years.

I have a full comprehensive policy with State Farm who said I don't need to pay separate for insurance when I rent uhaul because I'm already covered on my pre-existing policy.
“Rental car insurance” is 2 things: collision and/or liability. Your credit card ONLY covers collision damage to the rental car! If you are at fault for damages to someone else’s car/property/body… you have NO protection unless your own personal auto insurance includes rental car liability coverage. If you crash that rental car thinking your credit card’s got your back, wrong! Without liability or what’s usually called “supplemental insurance” to compliment collision coverage on your card or purchased from the rental agency, they will sue you for every last penny. And that… is not frugal.
I do not agree with the statement about Apple. I save money buying a macbook, too many times has a PC died on me or just horrible to use. I find my macbook the best purchase I ever made.
Your so right about the gas station! I never bought anything there but lately I have been getting candy. I’m not doing it anymore! Have to stop falling into this trap. Oh and regarding Apple - I’m on one atm! LOL I won’t be getting another one, I’m fed up with the new closed in system & Bluetooth only. Samsung does cost considerably less and products just work the same.
I watch it from Europe. For the first time in my life I have heard of dryer sheets.. WTF is this? I do not even have a dryer and do not need it. What is the point to pay for an appliance which additionally consumes a lot of electricity! Clothes dry perfectly and fast being hanged .. and for free!
We don't have a TV so no TV. We watch RUclips videos. I know. Shocking. Lol. I smoked decades ago. Coffee at gas stations is ridiculously expensive. Lottery is okay on Yotta. It's how you make interest. I have my own modem. I need a hole in my floor to hook it to my internet. 16 oz bottle of soda costs more than a 2 liter bottle. I have a clothes line...no dryer. Minimalism means very little to store. My husband has unlimited data because of his job. I have 5 gigs. Together we pay $45/month for internet.
I was forced to buy a bottle of water somewhere other than Dollar Tree….the gas station. Had my twenty at the ready….two bottles $1.50. Good savings….even better when water is $5 ($4.75) at the movie theater. Only time I buy bottles of water.
I agree on most of them until cable tv, I watch wrestling like WWE and AEW and I can only do that using cable tv if I want to watch their live shows so thats the only thing in this list that I waste my money. Great video By the way.
I learned that the "point" of dryer sheets is to stash one under the hood of your car to prevent a squirrel from setting up a home in your car while it is parked (had to pay the tune of 600.00 in repairs on account of a squirrel). Apparently, squirrels hate the smell of dryer sheets as much as I do!
A dryer sheet, dear Austin, keeps your clothes from static cling and it also makes them wrinkle free. You should try it sometime with your minimalist black T-shirts.
Thanks for Car Rental insurance tip. I’ve been paying full excess cover so my excess is always zero when I go on holidays. . Here in Australia just the Insurance cover is an extra $43 per day. I just looked up my credit card and they have this cover. How did I not know this😠
One issue regarding cable TV is that to older people it resembles old broadcast TV over the air because you tune in a channel and watch whatever is on or you tune in for a show at a time. They tend to not understand on demand streaming or multiple subscriptions or streaming devices. It takes some tech savvy to cut the cord. Spectrum and others make their money off of timid old 85 year olds who only know about the junky cable boxes.
You have never been to the gas station in Cameron Missouri where they have delicious food for about a dollar per person. When you split the rib sandwich
I’m a Boomer and boy, you’ve got our number. I don’t have cable TV but I rent my modem. 😂😂 Oh, but dryer sheets eliminate ironing. I threw away my iron. Gimme those dryer sheets any day! Overall though…this is well-thought-out advice. Oops, I mean non-advice.
You can halve the cost of dryer sheet use by cutting all the sheets in half and only using a half sheet per load. I use them to soften the clothes and eliminate static cling. Dryer balls didn't work that well, in my opinion. Better yet would be to use fabric softener in your washing machine and line dry your laundry.
I have unlimited mint mobile data but no home internet. Still only $30 /month. I don't have cable or streaming services so all my entertainment comes from the library or internet on my phone.
One thing I stopped paying for is home Internet service. I pay $45 per month for a phone plan with unlimited data and use it as a wifi hotspot when necessary.
Here in Portugal all people have cable TV because here its expensive to have just Internet. Is cheaper to have a package with Cable TV, + Internet + Mobile Data.
On Caleb Hammer's "Financial Audit," he will go through people's bank accounts and call them out for wasting their money on random junk at gas stations, which he refers to as "taquitos." It's too funny. EVERYONE on the show spends a crazy amount of money on this stuff. The only time I ever buy snacks from a gas station is when I'm on a road-trip or something.

Am looking for something to venture into on a short term basis, I really need to create an alternate source of income, what do you think I should be buying?
Cryptocurrency investment, but you will need a professional guide on that.

I don’t dry y clothes in dryer anymore last month I started air drying them. Keeps them looking new longer and costs less
Lol, when you said "apple products" I was thinking "I don't remember fruit being that expensive"
I thought the same thing. Who knew apple sauce was so expensive?
😂😂😂😂
“Now the next load of bullshit is … financial advisors” LMAO!
My partner’s been considering going the same route, could you share more info please on the advisor that guides you?
Dryer sheets help with static cling, which is a real problem in the winter in a dry climate.
Anyone interested in saving money on the tv with me buying cheap ones for Internet
I do buy the small containers and it stays in the back of the fridge until I throw it out…
@@marylhere for cases like that, I now refrain from buying the thing haha
I found 2 slices of bacon in a package at the Dollar Tree.

@@fueledbymusic3 I think its all in the name brand. I agree with you, but people love name brands like Apple.
I have been using pcs from 2008. My 2013 laptop is still working... people think they are better because they chose to use apple products
I totally agree with all these, but you got me with going into the gas station, this 60 yr. Old loves her slurpies, but in hawaii most of the machines are broken, so avoid the disappointment and not go in and I don’t need them anyway. Also this falls into giving up soda lol
Taylor frozen ice / Ice cream machines always break down on hot days, lol…😅
My 9 year old got a good giggle out of “Tesla is a personality type” in one of your videos 😅
So he hooked me on your videos and I binge watched a bunch last night. I haven’t found one about cell phone bills - maybe there is one - but I have to say people look at me funny when I say I pay $15 a month for my phone service (for 10 years now), they ask questions but then continue with “eehhhh it sounds sketchy” 🤦🏻♀️
Nowhere in the world people pay as much as they pay in the US for their cell phone bill, EVEN WHEN they are amazing affordable alternatives. Blows my mind.
When u live more rurally, the service can be sketchy even with the big phone services, so it’s scary to switch. I would love to pay $15 a month!
@@juliemarkham4332 All the apartment complex would have to do is to fold it into the rent and advertise that it is free with your unit.
Have
got around 20 years on you and wish i knew this stuff when i was younger.
Love your videos Austin. You provide a lot of good advice. I do love my Apple products though!😊
Honestly I like Apple products simply because they work well and are quality. I never have problems with them. PCs on the other hand, I do.
Same here. I don’t think I’m better than anyone. Just a preference since my apple products have lasted so long and I get good use out of them.
Dryer sheets do actually reduce or eliminate completely STATIC. Also, some people like smelling a specific fragrance. We use the Non Fragrance kind.
Renting is wasting your money; you need to purchase a house. I was a homeowner by age 27.
This is a guy living in his mom’s basement… so take it for what it’s worth…
I owned my first home at 18… almost 60 years ago. Maintenance is expensive beyond belief. I think renting is a valid option.
Shouldn’t eat chips anyway poison acidic cancer causing empty snacks!
Depending on the internet provider, you are forced to either rent or purchase their router.
Spectrum allows you to use your own router.
@@wendelleg2002 But Spectrum is only one of many. Where I live we have 6 providers.
They also pay us a reduced rent.
I literally agree with everything you said and don't waste money on any of those things. However, we downsized from a large home to a 900 sf house ( love it!), and lived in an RV during the house search/build process. So we needed a storage unit for about a year. You have no idea how much it killed me to make that payment every month! We celebrated when we were finally able to get our stuff out 😂
It’s great seeing your number of subscribers increasing. Thanks for the posts and motivation.
It's been going up!!! It's a constant fight!
Hello el Augustine, always watching your great videos from London U.K. 🇬🇧
Great video Agustin, and my best wishes on your new life adventure 👏👏✨✨
Yes I stopped using dryer sheets and haven’t noticed a difference
Do you already use fabric softener in your wash? I'm asking because I don't use fabric softener in my wash and use the dryer sheets instead of fabric softener.
I don’t even use a dryer, let alone dryer sheets
I only use the indoor climate controlled storage unit where 15 vehicles can drive in the park inside...I psy $26; a month for a 5x5' space. Perfect for my dog to exercise on bad weather days..and made some kindred spirit life long friends!
I agree about the sugar drinks, but i needs my Sun Chips.mmmm garden salsa
Muchas gracias Agustín! Great advise as always
Dryer sheets elminate the static cling and leaves the clothes smelling better. But you're right, they're not really necessary.
I think dryer sheets help with static cling.
This. It's not to dry your laundry.
If you notice a difference, use them if you want; but you might be pleasantly surprised and find no difference like me.
static cling helps money to stay in the pockets

Hello Austin, I hope your move to the south was pleasant. I agree that most older generation are not very up to date with the latest technology. I’ve been out of school for about 30 years. I decided to pursue a new career and found myself learning how to “copy and paste” for an example. My learning curve was so incredibly.
I really enjoyed watching videos. Best regards, Greg
Totally agree on every single point, well said!
Thank you.
Apple products work better and at least for me last a very long time. Only upgraded lap top after 10 yrs of using a mac book air to my bmp now. I’ve had it for nearly 4 yrs and plan to keep it for as long as I can which at a minimum will be 6 more years.

I am 64 ..and never had cable TV… too expensive! I saved a lot of money !
Thank you for posting the modem link.
Oh please!! I’m a baby boomer and I’m very tech aware and do none of these! Neither do my friends! Your advice/ non advise apply to all generations
I agree on most of them until cable tv, I watch wrestling like WWE and AEW and I can only do that using cable tv if I want to watch their live shows so thats the only thing in this list that I waste my money. Great video By the way.
My husband loves old movies, old tv shows, live baseball games, so cable is a must. It’s his only vice, so it’s okay. ❤
I learned that the "point" of dryer sheets is to stash one under the hood of your car to prevent a squirrel from setting up a home in your car while it is parked (had to pay the tune of 600.00 in repairs on account of a squirrel). Apparently, squirrels hate the smell of dryer sheets as much as I do!
haha, I think I heard that before! I know they can eat the wires of a car!
The only time I paid for a storage unit was when I was living in one. I guess you could call that frugal.
You HAVE to have dryer sheets! Or else your clothes get static electricity. Don't you know that?
Wow, haven't seen wood panelling since '77! lol New digs? *edit ah parents place
Dryer sheets help taking the s attic from my clothes and I don’t get shock especially in winter.

here in Romania we get landline+tv+broadband (1000Mbps) for 12 USD and an unlimited mobile plan for 5 USD. guess I'll stick with my tv plan for now
I should give your video thumbs up, fortunately I stay away with all those things you mentioned above 😅
Thanks for Car Rental insurance tip. I’ve been paying full excess cover so my excess is always zero when I go on holidays. . Here in Australia just the Insurance cover is an extra $43 per day. I just looked up my credit card and they have this cover. How did I not know this😠
Congratulations on your move. I hope you do videos on apartment searching to share lessons. Long time subscriber
Will do!
Dryer balls
@@kristinj7173 yes, we use dryer balls also.
@@maureenmccrackin6933 I’ve found that the wool balls cut down drying time significantly. Sorry for hi jacking your page, Austin!
Unpopular opinion: You forgot pets. They are a huge waste of money. Plush toys are more economical.
I love my apple products because they work. 👍 Dryer sheets get rid of static cling. Other than that…I agree🤗 choose your channels wisely. 👌🏻
WOW great haircut ❤ xx
I enjoy apple products still, cider, apple butter, dried apples etc
Do you also like applesauce?
Apple fritters?
Apple 🍎 pie 😂
