    The best thing to sum up Alex is the fact that his longest answer at the post fight press was giving well wishes and support to Jiri after a knockout loss like that. Never really pushes to promote himself or hype up his wins, just keeps it short and sweet and just says chama. What a legend.

    Chuck Mindenhall called this on Morning Kombat a long time ago. He said “what if the story of Adesanya/Peirera isn’t about Israel, it’s really all about Alex”.
    If Israel doesn’t have a resurgence, that could end up being the case.

      Their stories will be forever aligned. Would AP have even been brought to the UFC is there wasn't the Izzy story? Would Izzy have just continued on his run, and retired as a long-reigning champ if his kryptonite hadn't shown up to chop him down? Either way, couldn't have asked for a better outcome - and I say that as a massive Izzy fan. We're lucky this whole thing happened and we're getting to see AP work at the highest level, changing narratives everywhere as he does so.

    And at this point, a win over a Bones that cheated all his career and wants a soft landing with Stipe has nothing to do with Alex's GOAT status. If Poatan manages to add that 3rd belt, he would have to be consensus GOAT just on sheer merit alone (only 2-division Glory AND 3-division UFC)

    • @nikobellic9004
      @nikobellic9004 13 дней назад +1

      Plus goat debate is about who got the greatest accomplishment in the history of the sport, who is the greatest? And 3 division champion is arguably the greatest accomplishment in the history of the sport, so loses matter less in goat debates than it is in TBE debate, who is the best ever?
      It's not like TBE, who is the best fighter ever? Which is more about who got the best skills and and would theoretically beat everyone if they were in the same weight class. It's very hard to proof TBE unlike goat status.
      So poatan has a very good chance of becoming the goat, he doesn't need to beat jon jones.

If you disagree fair point but Alex doesn’t speak English, has a way shorter mma career and when one breaks a toe the other steps in with a broken toe. Ik it’s premature but I said potential, imagine if he goes to heavyweight and beats Tom or Jon. He has a very strong argument

      Rumble (RIP) had several losses before he fought for the title, and came up short twice. I personally thought he would be a contender for WW before he had to move up. Their careers, other than ko power, aren't really comparable. Sad we never got to see Rumble vs Jones though.

    Short notice fights are really good for Pereira, not many fighters want to grapple without a long camp to get into proper cardio shape..Which has forced some of his opponents to stay on the feet, which favors Alex..Hill and Yiri both have decent ground games, but without a camp, that becomes unlikely..Sometimes the stars align for fighters and they take advantage of the opportunities..I wouldn't want to see Alex fight Aspinall, that won't end well for Alex..People are delusional about Alex fighting at heavyweight..Alex would need several years to catch up skill wise with Jones and Aspinall..

    I don't beleive Brian Ortega story of moving to LW. This doesn't make any sense. He just had a win against Yair and was one fight away from another title shot. Why would a guy let go of #1 contender match instead move up a weight class and start from scratch.
    I am not accusing him of doing this deliberately but it seems because of his mental health issues he wasn't disciplined enough to maintain weight after his last fights.
