    The best thing to sum up Alex is the fact that his longest answer at the post fight press was giving well wishes and support to Jiri after a knockout loss like that. Never really pushes to promote himself or hype up his wins, just keeps it short and sweet and just says chama. What a legend.

    Chuck Mindenhall called this on Morning Kombat a long time ago. He said “what if the story of Adesanya/Peirera isn’t about Israel, it’s really all about Alex”.
    If Israel doesn’t have a resurgence, that could end up being the case.

      Their stories will be forever aligned. Would AP have even been brought to the UFC is there wasn't the Izzy story? Would Izzy have just continued on his run, and retired as a long-reigning champ if his kryptonite hadn't shown up to chop him down? Either way, couldn't have asked for a better outcome - and I say that as a massive Izzy fan. We're lucky this whole thing happened and we're getting to see AP work at the highest level, changing narratives everywhere as he does so.

    And at this point, a win over a Bones that cheated all his career and wants a soft landing with Stipe has nothing to do with Alex's GOAT status. If Poatan manages to add that 3rd belt, he would have to be consensus GOAT just on sheer merit alone (only 2-division Glory AND 3-division UFC)

    • @nikobellic9004
      @nikobellic9004 Месяц назад +1

      Plus goat debate is about who got the greatest accomplishment in the history of the sport, who is the greatest? And 3 division champion is arguably the greatest accomplishment in the history of the sport, so loses matter less in goat debates than it is in TBE debate, who is the best ever?
      It's not like TBE, who is the best fighter ever? Which is more about who got the best skills and and would theoretically beat everyone if they were in the same weight class. It's very hard to proof TBE unlike goat status.
      So poatan has a very good chance of becoming the goat, he doesn't need to beat jon jones.

If you disagree fair point but Alex doesn’t speak English, has a way shorter mma career and when one breaks a toe the other steps in with a broken toe. Ik it’s premature but I said potential, imagine if he goes to heavyweight and beats Tom or Jon. He has a very strong argument

    I don't beleive Brian Ortega story of moving to LW. This doesn't make any sense. He just had a win against Yair and was one fight away from another title shot. Why would a guy let go of #1 contender match instead move up a weight class and start from scratch.
    I am not accusing him of doing this deliberately but it seems because of his mental health issues he wasn't disciplined enough to maintain weight after his last fights.

    Poatan is n2 p4p right now, he ain't n1 his last few wins aren't better than Islam.
    And did I hire right? Ariel said Islam got koed a few years ago? It wasn't a few years ago buddy it was almost 10 years ago, I thought you were a journalist? Do your job correctly old man, on the other hand alex pereira got koed cold around 13 month ago so he ain't p4p king yet.
    But if he can win the 3rd belt he got a strong argument for being the goat.

    • @shrekonion7032
      @shrekonion7032 Месяц назад

      Alex has beaten Strickland, adesanya, Jan, hill, and jiri twice all of them undisputed Champions, Islam barely scraped by volkanovski in their first fight koed him in their second fight but it was short notice for volkanovski and took a lot of damage in his fight with Dustin Porier, and Alex has been knocking out his opponents in the first and second rounds recently

    • @edwardelric5491
      @edwardelric5491 Месяц назад +2

      @shrekonion7032 bearly scraped by? that's pretty disingenuous.
      Perriera bearly scrabed by Jan blachowicz in a fight that could have gone either way, and Poirier is an all time great unlike jiri and hill who aren't, plus Islam didn't take a lot of damage in that fight he took 1 albow that opened a cut that's it it was a competitive fight but a 5 round domination none the less with a badass ninja like finish at the end.
      None of alex pereira opponents you listed were ranked in the top 5 p4p other than izzy and in the rematch he got knocked out dead in all of his other wins are great for 205 but jiri and hill aren't all time great fighters like volkanovski is plus jiri took that fight on short notice and Hill was coming off a catastrophic injury, also by your logic alex bearly beat Jan blachowicz and took a lot of damage against him and jiri in the first fight too.
      -On the other hand Islam has run over the n3 ranked p4p at that time Charles oliveira who had almost cleaned out the entire division.
      After that he dominated the n1 p4p volkanovski (4 rounds to 1) in the 2023 fight of the year, and out striked volk who wad believed to be the best striker in mma. He didn't barley scraped by.
      Than after that he scored a ko of the year contender in the rematch against volk, the rematch was on short notice for both Islam and volk plus volk was already in ramp thzts why he accepted the fight and was confident, a d the fight lasted nearly 1 minutes so ve can't bring the excuse that volk would have done in a full camp.
      - it's not like it was a 5 round war were volk got tired a d only lost because he wasn't prepared, no he lost because Islam setp that high kick perfectly.
      And lastly beat a legend in poirier and finished him spectacularly.

    • @edwardelric5491
      @edwardelric5491 Месяц назад +1

      Alex pereira was ranked 4th before this fight, under lion, jones and volk, jumping him 3 spot to n2 is pretty fair, but putting him aboumve Islam isn't logical.
      Plus if they were in the sale weight class Islam would easily take alex down and sub him,so tgat count for something too
      But it doesn't matter because poatan is closer to something better than p4p he is close to 3 division champion and if he do it he is the goat.

  • @faizanyt
    @faizanyt Месяц назад

    Again and again we have p4p debates without even knowing the meaning of it. It definitely doesn't mean which champion can become a champion in other weight class. It means if all champions are in the same weight class then who'd come out on top. Can you think of Pereira defeats Islam if they are same weight. I'll put Perreira even behind Sean O'Malley and Leon Edwards.
