That's why I came to watch this video too! It's brute force and it's a pull away from the unit. Mine was stuck fast and I couldn't figure out if it was a slide away or a pull. You can just about spot in this video that the prongs point upwards from the unit to where the plug goes. On a side note, whoever designed that battery compartment is a shithead!
Got the same problem seems the plastic box with the wires is held in place with plastic peg no instruction how to release it. Brute force may break it. Even the manufacturer was unsure and said we think it just pulls apart.
Turn it anti-clockwise to remove from ceiling base plate. Once removed disconnect the 3pin connector block. Be careful of the spring inside when replacing the battery and forcing the battery in can cause the spring to be dislodged and its a pain to refit.
My one was fitted 12 years ago and has now starting bleeping! It looks more complicated than I thought it would be to change the battery. So I have to turn the electricity off before I even try to take down the alarm?

This is all well and good but how do you detach it from the ceiling? Ours won't stop beeping every ten minutes.... slightly maddening!
