Oh my goodness I love the opening it’s literally my spirit animal. Anyway I was really looking forward to this video. I love how you explain your thought process and you art is truly awesome. This series has actually made me think about my own universe I’m writing. One of the thing about my own universe I figured out after watching these videos is that the way the society works. Because there are multiple different species but the normal people are still “rule over everything”. So I started thinking about the ethics of hunting in this world. One thing I thought of was a poster of a human like creature with a gun pointed its head with text at the bottom saying “when does hunting become murder?”. So yea these shorts really have inspired me. I hope you can keep inspiring people in the future.

I wanted to touch on that drop of blood splattered across the handyman’s torso. Did you color it red on purpose to symbolize something? Because now I think about it, this is the first time we’ve seen color in this series that isn’t black white or some shade of grey. Strange, that the first time we see color here, is when it’s blood. I’m wondering if that was you being literal and saying: Ay this is blood. Or if that was meant to be symbolic of something. Even the children’s story in the second short wasn’t in color, so I’m curious.
I'm pretty sure there was red blood splatter in the previous short films too. I guess the blood needed to be red so that you know it's blood and not just machine oil or something.
I can't express how much I love you, your own imagination and just how you work things out. Seeing you play with those toys really just showed you are like everyone else, you have fun in your own way and it really made me smile and made my day. I always love these behind the scenes videos and I can't wait for the rest of these shorts! Keep up the amazing work!
"That child's favourite toy is a handyman action figure, for it is heavily advertised and therefore influencing her thinking. A handyman, an authority figure that she looks up to and respects. That toy will shape the kind of adult she'll become." This line really made me think. It reminded me of how we make toys of authoritative figures like Police and Firemen. It's pretty disturbing when you apply the same logic.
Watching the Autodale shorts I always wondered if the matriarch is a prisoner herself, with the way she hangs suspended in the tower and is unable to move.
Legos were my favorite toy growing up, I still build with them to this day *I'M 14* , And you can make anything with lego... *Soooo... I'm a jack of cards basically*
I love the ending, where the toys are compared to the Handymen themselves. Because it's true. While the Handymen are the actual army that enforces the values set upon the society of Autodale, the toys are just as much as an army. They influence the children of Autodale, while the Handymen themselves take care of and dispose of any Ugly adults. I absolutely adore the animations and I can't wait to see even more!
Toys do influence you. I collect dolls, usually limited edition barbie, but mostly disney princesses. I bought one then I bought fourteen others. They're a part of you from your childhood and you want to go back to it
Growing up, I played a lot with dolls, especially barbie dolls, but instead of focusing on the fashion and make-up aspect, I used my dolls to tell stories; in the beginning, I just used the dolls to retell my favorite movies, mostly disney princess movies, but as I grew older, I began to change the stories; change the details, the characters, subvert the tropes, or even mix stories together to create an entirely new story. Usually I would have the story already planned out before playing out, but sometimes I would add spur of the moment plot twists. Now as an adult, I've become fond of writing in my spare time, and when I write, I often find myself doing the same stuff when I was a kid playing with my dolls

I've always liked barbies, LPS, Winx Club toys, ponies, stuff like that. I *did* have plushies, but I didn't really play with them. My sister liked them, though. Anyways, as for the things that I was actually interested in, I had a... weird habit of changing them lol. I was curious about their insides so I'd cut my ponies and put them inside water glasses, I'd paint my LPS to alter their look to my liking, and I'd give my barbies haircuts. My winx dolls were safe though. I never actually altered them, I loved fairies. I'm a teenager now and Iove to draw. I work with fairies, glitter, fantasy, stuff like that. But I also draw body horror. Cut eyed black eyes bla bla, but I add some *cuteness* and beauty to them. So yep, I think he's right. I didn't realize how long I've been writing this lmao
This actually got me thinking... My favorite toys as a kid were Monster High, and now I'm OBSESSED with humanoid monsters. Everything I draw is mostly girls that look almost human, but not quite. An otherwise normal, decently attractive girl, but with bright unnatural skin tones like blue, or purple, with horns, pointed ears, fangs, wings, and way to many eyes. Scary and strange, but just human enough to be oddly beautiful. Wow, toys can be pretty influential huh?
I liked the ever after high and MLP dolls as a kid. And now I mainly draw exaggerated female characters. They’re often non-human non-human, mainly demons but I probably got that from watching things on RUclips
I grew up whit Lego figures, transformers, Ben ten and spore (A video game about making your own aliens). Now I draw a lot of monsters and aliens whit unusual body designs and strange features. My favourite subject being mutated flesh and body horror. However I offen present my creations as sympathetic or no different than any other person or animal. Yea toys can be influential.

I always love these making of videos. They allow me to compare what I discerned from the episode to what the creator was trying to say. Thanks for making something worth thinking about
I agree. Toys definitely shape us in many ways. When I was little, I played with littlest pet shop, animal figures, and stuffed animals. I had way over a hundred of each, so I would give each toy a personality. I think this in turn would help me understand how people are all so different. Now I write stories with lots of animals and focus on personality. Toys really are such wonderful things.
When I was born, my aunt sewed me a cute pink quilt and a fluffy, tan teddy bear I named Barry. I slept under the quilt every night. My fondest memory of my childhood was when I rummaged through my parents closet and dressed Barry and I in dresses and shirts. The quilt and bear are pretty scuffed now, but I still sleep with the quilt and occasionally snuggle up with the bear. Over time, all of my other blankets and stuffed animals were thrown away from old age, but there's just some stuff you can't let go.
the concept for `Loner` animation sound interesting. the look of the protagonist resemble someone who escaped autodale and is hiding in forest although this might only concept art but if there is going to be another autodale animation ill hope it will be explanation why you cant leave autodale since No Monster is just a book that don't have to be real reason (since book`s reason is there monster that doesn`t have to exist). and will tell what happened to the rest of world...
Would be an interisting take that autodale is the only place on earth that still has humans... the rest is dead and there is a reason why autodale is so... controlling. Maybe he will put the both positives and negatives. Maybe, while the outside world is beautyfull at the same time it's dangerous due to the beasts.
*throws my love at you* THANK YOU for these! ^^ I love them! The animation, the art, the world building, the dark tones, the meanings... Thank you for continuing this!
Man the attention to detail is amazing. And the sketch of the little girl and robot that you don't like, it's awesome. Now you won't believe that, trust me I know I'm an artist myself, but it is truly amazing, especially how you put warm colors inside the light to make everything else melancholy. I want to animate my own stories later on and I hope I can be as good as you are right now. Keep it up, David. You're work is truly amazingly awesome in every way.
I love watching the creating of... more than I actually like watching the shorts. Its getting to know you better and how much thoughts and effort you put into your work.
Hey david! have you ever planned on continuing "Logdings"? Because i found it hilarious back then and now i found your channel again! To the others, go watch it. its a small series with 5 parts on his channel from 2 yrs ago i think.
this video brought me to tears because it reminded me of my childhood and I just want to thank you for reminding me of when nothing bad seemed to happen.
“I grew up with the original” so that explains why the “freaks” look so lizard like But I’m all seriousness I think that autodale should fall and when that happens the color returns to the land
I like these more than the shorts. As much as I adore your work, these are extremely relaxing and your voice is so calming not to mention, getting backstory without having to theorize is nice!
You are just so creative and intuitive in everything that happens in your dystopian world. It's really amazing to watch and I always look forward to see a new video from you. Thank you for everything you've done so far and I'm sure that myself as well as others are anxious to see what comes next. Thank you once again and I wish you the best.
I found it so creepy that I actually believed for a bit...was this whole world in this kids head I asked myself... The scary thing is I am a child not so much 10 but I'm no where near adult either, this gave me a new fear and a realization "I and many others can get controlled because of something we can't control." What a scary, and amazing thought.

Over time, all of my other blankets and stuffed animals were thrown away from old age, but there's just some stuff you can't let go.

the concept for `Loner` animation sound interesting. the look of the protagonist resemble someone who escaped autodale and is hiding in forest
although this might only concept art but if there is going to be another autodale animation ill hope it will be explanation why you cant leave autodale since No Monster is just a book that don't have to be real reason (since book`s reason is there monster that doesn`t have to exist). and will tell what happened to the rest of world...
This is amazing good job keep it up can't wait to see the next two.
Never give up on you're childhood. *Imagination is Creation.*
I love watching the creating of... more than I actually like watching the shorts. Its getting to know you better and how much thoughts and effort you put into your work.
How many dinosaurs did you buy???
Probably too many for a grown man.
There is no such thing as 'too many' XD
Yes
i count 26
@@rebeccasheilds2398 what do you mean
I love how he organizes the artwork in his sketchbooks so much. I hope someday, there could possibly be a DeadSound Artbook
When I was young I used to collect a lot of toys and now I collect things like odd stones and those glass stones that are sometimes in some plant pots
The ending took my breath away for a moment. I love how you and your artwork is so different from everyone else.
Hey david!
have you ever planned on continuing "Logdings"? Because i found it hilarious back then and now i found your channel again! To the others, go watch it. its a small series with 5 parts on his channel from 2 yrs ago i think.
this video brought me to tears because it reminded me of my childhood and I just want to thank you for reminding me of when nothing bad seemed to happen.
0:13 award winning oscar film
This channel is like that intense tv series you go out of your way to watch because it is so intense and I luv it
“I grew up with the original” so that explains why the “freaks” look so lizard like
But I’m all seriousness I think that autodale should fall and when that happens the color returns to the land
I like these more than the shorts. As much as I adore your work, these are extremely relaxing and your voice is so calming not to mention, getting backstory without having to theorize is nice!
I love this channel way too much I might explode
**Deep inhale**
**Eats Ender Pearl**
Ok, i should teleport any minute no--
*_*Explodes_**
You are just so creative and intuitive in everything that happens in your dystopian world. It's really amazing to watch and I always look forward to see a new video from you. Thank you for everything you've done so far and I'm sure that myself as well as others are anxious to see what comes next. Thank you once again and I wish you the best.
0:13 Toys, such...imaginative......uh, what?

Wait did you edit this from a “first” comment lol
I found it so creepy that I actually believed for a bit...was this whole world in this kids head I asked myself... The scary thing is I am a child not so much 10 but I'm no where near adult either, this gave me a new fear and a realization "I and many others can get controlled because of something we can't control." What a scary, and amazing thought.
I'm gonna have Johnny Cash stuck in my head for the rest of the day
Did...did he really end so cryptical?! This is your explanation videossssssss you can't do thissssss
(Is all good I just love this concept so much
