This '66 Chevrolet Impala 2-dr Hardtop, code 37, was originally a 327 car, and was purchased new on December 14, 1965, by Mr. Tony Logan of Berry, Alabama. It was sold to Mr. Logan by M. T. Mothershed of M & M Chevrolet in Fayette, AL. The Logan family sold it to Howard McGee, also of Alabama. He sold it to a friend of mine in 2013, and I bought it from him. It's been in Georgia since 2013. A southern car its whole life, there is no rust on the car (underside surface only). The car received a paint job in the mid 1980's and it shows (patina). Original color is Marina Blue. The interior is original except for the carpet. There are some cracks, and the age shows on the seat covers. Dash has two cracks. Radio is in place but doesn't turn on. Speedo, gas gauge, and all lights work. Car has original spare, jack stand, and lug wrench. Also comes with original protecto plate, owner’s manual, warranty booklet, and accessories booklet. Now for the best part.
The drivetrain has about 500 miles on it and was completed over the last two years. The original 327 is long gone. In its place is a completely rebuilt 454, bored .030 over, balanced, blue printed, ported polished heads and a Comp Cams .595 solid lift camshaft. Motor is new from the oil pan up to the Holley Double pumper. The transmission is a new rebuilt M21 four speed, new, balanced drive shaft into a 12 bolt with New Eaton Posi-Trac 4:11 gears. Has a Centerforce pressure plate. The Headers run into 2 1/2-inch exhaust with OTP electric cut outs, followed by Pypes mufflers. Car sounds amazing. Runs, drives, and shifts fantastic. Everything under the detailed hood is new or restored. New radiator and wiper motor. Newer sway bar end links. Newer brakes. The car was built to drive and enjoy. Although it's been babied, the car was built to have a nostalgic drag car look (Tow Hooks, 90/10 shocks, line lock, cut outs, etc.).
This 1966 Impala Sport Coupe is very straight, solid, and a rust-free car with a completed high performance (not radical) drive train. Drive it as is, or paint. Car is a blast. A ton of money was put into the car. Stays cool as can be in stop and go traffic.
