    2017 sr5 premium was all i needed here. Heated softex leather seats, sunroof, Part time 4wd as i dont need fulltime 4wd except for those few stormy days. Still love mine to this day.

    Got the 2WD, sr5 4runner and I’m very happy. You asked for reasoning that why I didn’t get 4WD:
    1.) I don’t live in a snowy area/don’t want to take the expensive vehicle off roading potentially damaging it.
    2.) I have no reason for spending the extra $4k it would take to get the next higher trim level for 4x4 when it will cost an extra $1500 every 5 years in gas money because of the added weight (getting that fact from the window sticker)
    3.) 4WD comes with increased maintenance costs.
    Just MY opinion :)

      4wd has no increased maintenance cost that's just wrong.

    Reason why I bought the 2wd? Same reason rich people buy Lamborghini Ferrari etc and they can't race them. I just like the car itself.

    Got an sr5 premium 4x4 in 2022 and I love it. I honestly can’t see ever needing the rear diff unless I was going to actually go deep deep mudding or rock crawling, and I’m daily driving mine so no need for that. Great video series man 😊

    I have a 2016 SR5 RWD. I had a 4wd truck and I never used the 4wd and I was tired of the extra maintenance and parts for something I never used and also RWD has better MPG by 1 mile. Also I got it super cheap because nobody wanted a RWD. I will buy a 4x4 for fun later on but this is just a car for driving cross country and to work.

  • @cruzinthruspace

    Trd off-road premium is the absolute best. 4Runner = 4x4.
    Buying a new truck wasn't really a need for me It was a want.
    I don't need four-wheel drive just like I don't need a new truck. I wanted one.
    And if I'm going to spend upwards of $40,000 or even 50 now in 2024 for a brand new 4x4 I'm going to get all the bells and whistles.

    I traded in my SR5 premium for a TRD ORP and don’t regret. Went on a muddy road…4H wasn’t cutting it, so went 4L, still slipping,hit ABS and worked. I still had 2 arrows in my quiver: MTS and the rear locker. Man it felt good.

    I bought a 2023 4Runner RWD. Why? I don't off road and I don't need 4WD. 4WD are more expensive to work on if something needs repair underneath. I drove professionally for 35 years so I know how to drive in winter weather. I plan on using my old car in the winter anyway.

    TRD Pro. I've done anywhere from dirt roads to Black Bear Pass and I haven't found anywhere I can't go yet (yes, I'm one of the probably 10 people who actually offload in their TRD Pros). Of course, I don't do rock crawl and stuff but factory warranty capability is the best. That Fox suspension setup on the TRD Pro gives such a comfortable on and off road ride comfort.
    Plus, the TRD Pro holds value so well. I bought my 2022 TRD Pro at MSRP (~$55K). 1.5 years and 55,000 miles later I can trade it in for $45K-$46K, pretty much breakeven (note the mileage). Besides the Ford Raptor (which I owned before the 4Runner), I don't think there are many vehicles that can do that.
    Idk, there seems to be a hate towards the TRD Pro but if you actually off-road in that vehicle, it's a fantastic off-roader. People worry too much about aftermarket suspension, 34'' tires, etc. when they never actually push the limit of the vehicles before needing a lift. If I were to do it all over again, I wouldn't have bought any other trim.

    Why would I wana get a 4runner 2WD ? To save on cost and a piece of mind backed by Toyota's notorious reputation for reliability and longevity....look folks don't let this guy fool you...if your not an off-roader and u want that reliability,dependability,longevity and want to save a few thousand dollars you can get any 4runner trims in 2WD and be a happy owner while driving around in style.As 2WD gets you out of most road situations like heavy snow,& muddy surfaces.if your like me who lives in a big city a 2WD fits the bill.if your that outdoor off-roading guy go with the TRD Off-Road Premium or Trail Premium...otherwise my 2014 4runner Limited 2WD drives like new and looks like a 2024 new model lol....just take care of it and your 4runner will take care of you and your family....TOYOTA GOING PLACES !!

    Great videos. Thank you...correction on your video regarding 4runner trim levels. Soft-tex trim is not leather! Tacos' offer a true leather covered seat. 4runner limited also feel a little different with one af the wheels pulling from the front and one in the back. I hate that Toyota can't offer the same authentic leather available in a taco but not in a 4Runner. Makes no sense! Thanks for good videos .

    My 2022 TRD OR-P was optioned with the sunroof, KDSS, and MTM (360° camera)
    SR5 doesn’t hold the same meaning today as it once did. The Tacoma SR5 has a 6 speed auto and the Tundra SR5 has an 8 speed auto.

    Easy. Buy the Off-Road regular. Not the premium. i have a '23 TRD Pro, and if I went back in time, I'd buy a regular, non-premium off-road. Same exact vehicle in every way except for some topical, bulls**t items.
    ps, for me, a sunroof is useless garbage that I never use and it will inevitably become an expensive problem one day.

  • @astralzombie
    @astralzombie 10 месяцев назад +2

    Definitely the TRD Off-Road over the TRD Pro, put the extra cash towards the suspension/wheels/tires you’ll change anyway…same off -road bits otherwise.

    • @thesilveremir
      @thesilveremir  10 месяцев назад +1

      It really is the best way to do it. I’ve seen new owners on the forums and Reddit ask for recommendations on aftermarket suspension systems for their TRD Pro. It’s kind of just a status symbol for some, they don’t even know what they are getting

    • @liams22u59
      @liams22u59 7 месяцев назад +1

      Yep. The TRD Pro is basically just a decked out, expensive TRD Off Road. Get the ORP, save money. Invest it in a build that better matches your needs.

    I love my 2 Giant Schnauzers but need a 4Runner to take them on adventures. Started to do my research on 4Runners but the Giants were easier to spec out. Find a great breeder than get 1 boy and 1 girl.

      @danarussell4246 10 месяцев назад

      @@thesilveremir Our breeder is in West Virginia and her giants have Skansen roots as did our previous breeder from Pennsylvania. Unfortunately we’re old now and these are giants #6 and #7 for us. I’m sad to say they will probably be our last since we’ll be getting close to 80 when these 2 pass. They’ve all been such great dogs and love them more than people. Last summer our daughter connected us with a man from northern New Jersey that needed someone to pet sit his big male giant. We stopped to see if our female got along with. We got to pet sit Onyx for 35 days and when owner returned from Poland the wife and I both cried when we had to give him back. It was then we realized we needed a 2nd. We had always had 2 in the past going back 31 years. The majority of Onyx’s commands were in Polish so I made a cheat sheet. I escorted my wife to the community 1 day with Onyx and our female. As soon as the wife entered the pool I kept giving Onyx the command which I thought was go. He dug in and I had to drag him to get him moving. Checked my cheat sheet when I got home and I had been telling him to STAY STAY STAY. Giant man for life. Our daughter broke tradition and has a mini and a standard but she was raised on giants from age 6. Enjoy your girl!!!

    I really want my next vehicle to be a 4Runner but I think I’m pigeonholed into wanting either a TRD Pro or Limited trim simply because my wife and I have very different ideas of comfort when it comes to climate control and when you’re spending this much on a car, it seems silly that she would need to have a blanket with her or I would need to strip down to a t-shirt just to even things out.
    I don’t need a TRD Pro as far as the off-road capability but I do like how they look a lot more than the Limited trim, especially when it comes to the front end. If the Limited had the same look it would probably be an easy choice for me because I do like the cooled seats living in a place where we get a lot of triple digit summer days but I think I’m probably going to sacrifice that feature.

    • @thesilveremir
      @thesilveremir  4 месяца назад

      Good points and there's definitely a balance you will have to weigh. But in your shoes I may go with the Limited simply for the KDSS. If you don't off-road then there's nothing wrong with KDSS. If anything, go ahead and test drive both of them, and see if the heavy body roll of the TRD Pro makes you want the Limited.

    • @barnee27

      @@thesilveremir thanks, that’s good advice! I think I’ve only ever driven the SR5 as a rental vehicle and only on road. Like many, at least 90% of my driving would be on pavement, with the occasional light off-roading (primarily forest service roads, no real rock crawling) so I guess I really do need to pay close attention to how each suspension system feels on pavement.
      Maybe I just need to get a Limited and swap out the front bumper from another trim level lol.

    Not all ‘22 TRD off road premiums are the same. There is an off road premium plus. You can tell by the front facing camera that gives it that 360 degree panoramic view.
