When you have children, your life is no longer yours. Its all about THEM, and not YOU. You are doing the best thing. The good Lord has put His children in your hands. You have been loving parents. And it wont be the end of the world coming back to the States.

I live in North Carolina and U work with a sweet little autistic boy who is 8 years old. I work with him right in his home and he is thriving with remote learning! There are other ways to cultivate him socially. My husband and I are looking to move to Africa. Your story lets me know there is a need for Sped teachers like myself. But good luck

Having kiddos on the Autism spectrum is very hard and will have your family shed lots of tears. But with prayer, a good team at school that accommodates (advocate hard for them always), and the right interventions and therapies, I promise you that you'll see successes in the future. You'll discover that your baby has unique abilities instead of simply a disability. He'll have such a deep, different, and rich perspective about events and life because, with his travels, heightened senses, and experiences, he'll see things through a different lens than most. Nourish and celebrate that difference and give him a safe place, a hoodie, and something heavy to carry, which are calming. A Sit 'n Spin toy will also work wonders. One of my kiddos is now an architect and the other is in college. Have courage and faith on your journey. Bless you and your family.

I witnessed a child who was nonverbal until 6 years old and in a special needs school program, thrive, become verbal, read two grade levels above his grade, and test one grade level above his grade in math. The teachers really worked with that child to help him succeed. This was in a NC public school system.

Excellent decision. Your son needs structure and stability. He also needs a village of professionals ( educators, doctors, etc.) Life is going to be different for him and as parents, you have to do everything possible to make it easy for him. Early intervention is the only way. You will not regret your decision. This advice is coming from someone who has a son with autism.

I really respect what you guys have done AND what you are doing ahki. It's a mark of maturity to put the well-being and growth of our wives and children before our selves.
Blessings to you and yours my brother and if it's his will we'll see you guys again back here in the states.
    Much love my brother.

Bless your family! So inspired! I studied abroad in Ghana 7 years ago. Moved back with my son who is also on the spectrum! Yess socialization is awesome! We did early intervention since age 2! Speech therapy, ABA Home visits and school help. I learned all o could before moving him to Ghana when he was 3. We came back to the states in February and Covid hit. We are heading back to Ghana January. I’m a new PAtreon member looking forward to connecting!

I know exactly what you and your wife are going through. I have a son with Autism and you have to do what’s best for them. Sometimes it’s hard explaining this to my other children. But structure and being around people other than family is very important for him. My son has thrived and exhaled my expectations since he started receiving speech and other programs in the U.S.. He blows my mind! I prayed hard and stop worrying so much. It takes patience, and I know you know that. Bless you and your lovely family!!

I wish your beautiful family all the best. You will thrive wherever you are. Perhaps returning to Ghana or another country is in your future. But I understand that you must do whatever you can for your children so welcome back to the U.S.

I hope you're making the right decision to return back to the US my brother as this is definitely the worst time to do so, what's going on there now is only the beginning of a long bumpy road so think twice!... Shalom ✊🏾
