      @@tillycxz Here's a tip:
      You can use A/C tape (or metal tape) to help mold your structure. The only disadvantage is that you can see the outline of the tape on the foam, and black paint comes off of it really easy. So, I took a metal spongey thingy (sorry, I have no clue what its called) and rubbed of some of the paint to make it look used and old.

    Amazing! And my heavy-duty Singer machine can sew through foam. So I'm going to try to sew the whole thing together. Any tips?

    • @tillycxz
      @tillycxz  3 года назад

      Marion Jacobson I’ve never tried sewing foam together with a sewing machine. Let me know how that goes! I’m thinking since foam isn’t as easily workable as fabric, maybe flat seams for most of the seams except the main top and bottom seam? And maybe superimposed seams for those, if that makes sense? I’m trying to think of how leather masks would be constructed and I think you can approach it the same way.

    • @marionjacobson3307
      @marionjacobson3307 3 года назад +1

      @@tillycxz you're right it only worked on the first pair of seams. Back to gluing. Superglue was a fail. I'm going to try some Weld Compound from my hubby's workshop.

    • @tillycxz
      @tillycxz  3 года назад

      Marion Jacobson I’ve found that I’ve had varying success with different brands of super glue. I actually prefer it to contact glue, but I’ve found that the UHU brand is super unforgiving (if something accidentally sticks to a part you’ve applied glue on, the it’s just going to be there forever) where as my local supermarket’s brand gives just enough play time and if I press the seams together for about 30secs it’ll hold.

    Hi, your tutorial is amazing, it's easy and very helpful, I want to ask about a craft foam, I want to order it but I don't know which size it has to be, in your video it looks like it's the standard 2 mm one, but I'm not sure could you tell me which one it has to be?

    • @tillycxz
      @tillycxz  3 года назад

      I’m glad you found it helpful! I used 3mm craft foam because that was what my local art store was selling. I think 2mm should be fine, just be careful if you decide to add a removable lining or use Velcro scraps instead of ribbons to hold it up since it might have a higher risk of tearing.

    What size mm foam did you use? I was originally planning to get craft foam from the dollar store but I am not sure if it should be thicker than the standard, cheap foam? It's also funny because I was going to sew a mask using that same pattern from suntree but now I am seeing that it will be easier to customize small details on top of the mask by using foam.

    • @tillycxz
      @tillycxz  3 года назад +2

      PresidentMercury I used standard 3mm A4 sized pieces of craft foam as that’s what I had on hand. It does mean that you have to be careful with things like removing the cloth lining (if you decide to do that) because pulling too hard might tear the foam.
