A lot of really fun looking games that I'll have to keep my eyes open for! One game that I find really fun is"The Legendary Starfy " on the Nintendo DS!
I did gloss over it - I've talked about it a few other times on the channel, so I didn't want to revisit it too in depth in the video, but I think I was a bit _too_ casual in mentioning it. :) I was the QA Project manager, which means I was responsible for the test team for the game by being the liaison between Dev, Production, and QA. I also wrote all of our test cases for the project, as well as handled certification via EA's internal submission team and direct to Nintendo lotcheck when the game went gold.
@@SquarePegsawesome! Even with all the hard work involved, I’m sure it was a very cool experience to be a part of… I love your channel. Keep up the good work!
7:00 replace ninja gaiden with Street Fighter and that would describe me lol 😂 Fortunately I used the save and reload feature to beat SF2 in arcade mode for the first time in my life recently, on the Switch. I also have the game for almost every other platform and had initially played it in arcades as a teenager.
I still think aladdin on the genesis (mega drive here) is still an amazing platformer and still looks great. Also castle of illusion on a master system
Fantastic list, as always! Rooting for you to finally beat Ninja Gaiden, but that is gonna take a certain mindset and abandonment of hope lol - savestates are your friend! I would also highly recommend Mutant Mudds on the 3DS - while it's not an actual retro game, it certainly harkens back to the 8/16-bit days with it's visual presentation and music; the hidden Game Boy and Virtual Boy levels are fantastic on the 3DS, as the 3D effect from the Virtual Boy is perfectly replicated!
Platformers are the basis for my love of gaming! Love the variety of games in this video. I didn't even know that Rocket Knight Adventures existed until I stumbled upon Sparkster on a SNES emulator. It's a beautiful game that needs more praise.
I remember a gex game on ps1, but I don’t think I’ve played this one. Haha never heard of the Beckham game but I’m a Man United fan so that looks cool. Solid list Jay 👍
Excellent list, i have all those games, and love them all. Since they announced Ninja Gaiden Ragebound, I to set a 2025 goal of playing through the Ninja Gaiden trilogy on NES before Ragebound releases.
Growing up more as a PC gamer my favorite platformer was probably Jill of the Jungle from Epic MegaGames. Also a big fan of puzzle platformers. Kinda sad we don't get more of that anymore. I enjoyed Pharaoh's Tomb, Arctic Adventure, and Monuments of Mars from Apogee.
Dude I am pretty sure your channel gets buried in the youtube algorithm. I actively watch your stuff and never see it in my feed until days later. Sucks but just a heads up from a viewer's perspective
Dislike, since you refused to list the platformers in the video description. - Henry Hatsworth in the Puzzling Adventure (NDS) - Bonk's Adventure (PC Engine) - GEZ (3DO) - Monster in my Pocket (NES) - Go! Go! Beckham (GBA) - Nina Gaiden (NES) - Tomba! (PS1) - Kabuki Quantum Figher (NES) - Rocket Knight Adventures (Genesis) - The Flintstones (NES)
I Love bonk! We have a c.i.b turbo thats modded to play Japanese titles. I can help you make it happen. Oh lol im the 2nd chance guy by the way/the store manager.
I have been on a platformer kick lately, just picked up Metroid Dread.
Retro platformers will always be my idea of purist gaming. I'm esp fond of Batman on the GB.
A lot of really fun looking games that I'll have to keep my eyes open for!

I loved Starfy.
Starfy is absolutely magnificent. One of my favorites. :)
Such a underrated and hidden gem.
Wow, what was your role in making Henry Hatsworth? That sounds interesting, but I feel you just glossed over it. 😢

45? Now I feel old.
My choice would be Jumpman on the C64. I know that you mostly stick to consoles, but Jumpman was just plain fun.
I still have Henry Hatsworth 😊
So many platformers I’ve seen played and have still from 1980-Now from all consoles
I still think aladdin on the genesis (mega drive here) is still an amazing platformer and still looks great. Also castle of illusion on a master system

It's always a treat when I see your posts
You worked on Henry Hatsworth? Kudos!
Loved that game, I wish Nintendo made a new Puzzle League/Tetris Attack/Panel de Pon game.
Love the video. What makes a game a run and gun instead of a platformer?
Nothing but bangers in this list. That Flintstones game takes me back, as well as Kabuki.
Platformers are the basis for my love of gaming! Love the variety of games in this video.
I didn't even know that Rocket Knight Adventures existed until I stumbled upon Sparkster on a SNES emulator. It's a beautiful game that needs more praise.
Great vídeo! Nice that you bring a 3do game,
I’m gonna pretend you made this video for my 90’s ass lol hate how much I like that Red Sox hat!! Thanks my dawg
So this is pretty much a Nintendo list.
Sure. 6 of the 10 games are from Nintendo consoles. By percentages, that does indeed make it more a Nintendo list than not.
Feel free to add your favorites.
Nintendo was on fire in the late 80s/early nineties.
@SquarePegs I was kidding mate all great games and love your content keep up the great work
That David Beckham game looks like a lesser Soccer Kid/Kid Kleets from the SNES
I remember a gex game on ps1, but I don’t think I’ve played this one. Haha never heard of the Beckham game but I’m a Man United fan so that looks cool. Solid list Jay 👍

Shinobi 3,Aladdin genesis, Rocket Night,Donkey Kong Country, Batman nes,Adventure Island, Ninja Gaiden.
No apologies necessary. Henry Hatsworth actually is a great game and worthy of the list. Impressed that you worked on it.
Oh Hell yeah Kabuki Quantum Fighter! Played this a ton last year, got to the last boss, had to leave it there. Cool to hear about the movie basis. 😎
Damn forgot about Jill of the jungle they were great games
Can we give some love to Chuck Rock on the Sega megadrive 😅
We can absolutely give some love to Chuck Rock!
Does that robot run on Yorkshire Gold Tea?
~Spiff
Ohhh m gonna love this one! Platformers are my favorite genre
Hey I got my copy of Flintstones rescue of Dino and hoppy from you! Lol
Kabuki Quantum Fighter is just a reskinned Batman for NES.
It is decidedly not.
@ You don’t see the similarities in the two?
Similarities, sure, but not a reskin. Reskin would be Doki Doki Panic > SMB2.
woke up and chose violence calling all of these games retro 😭🤣. Always here for some monsters in my pocket love though.

I appreciate the heads up! I definitely need to do better about making my videos more discoverable. Thank you so much for watching!
