I agree with this. I’d accept a rent to own model as that does make things more accessible for people. But I’m almost entirely off subscriptions for my work. Left slate digital entirely now as they have locked perpetual licence to physical ilok only but you can use elok if you’re on subscription. Like what a dick move to people who bought your tools 😮💨

Ive mainly been watching your videos on D'n'B /Jungle production tips. Logic is my main DAW (however I also have FL studio) and I just like your teaching style i guess 😀
This was almost 3 years ago 😆 I just didn't want to make a thing of it. As to me it was just a part time contract that supported my other creative work. I just went fully freelance instead of mostly freelance. The point i was trying to make is that 90% of people couldn't do that. They were just backed into a wall and shot. Side note 8 people i used to work with have reached out to say thanks for speaking out so now i wish id done it all that time ago.
It's terrible how they treated you, if you had a contract, and they had you doing work not assigned to your job description you signed up to, sounds like legal stuff maybe needs to be looked into ?..They have an unprofessional system for work environments and jobs.. seems they don't do things properly by the book.. I'd list more but it's 5hit how employees are treated by some big companies.. Company needs a proper re-haul. One thing the company needs to stop doing is using decades old hardware in shiny looking devices.. while i use their fones to laptops due to logic and the joys for music, also it isnt windows.. I feel they could stop being frugal and upgrade tech to the 21st century..
My “contract” wasn’t updated in the 8 years I was there. There was a time where they valued the people. Basically during Covid it says it’s people as cogs. And decided it could source newer ones, for less. At the expense of experience. Like someone else said, blessing and for me it was fine. Not so much for everyone.
@DrVimto internally I stopped hating 20 hours of my week 😂 financially not having that consistent contract has been a rollercoaster 🎢 but I’m still sufficient and that’s exactly what they don’t want. They seem to want people they can trap into their new culture 😔
