      I was thinking they would make great adult action stories! I wish they would follow more of the original plot in stories in a lot of these but then have a happy ending in a lot of this for the adult versions, it could be so thrilling and still work out! However, I thought The Hunchback one actually sounded more boring than the original Disney version!

      Since the 80s babies are in their 30s now or turning 30 I think it's time we hear and see a movie of the original versions now.I think they would be good for us now that we are older and I think it would be interesting to see these darker or original versions. Anyone agree???

    The Little Mermaid does become sea foam but doesn't suffer when she does, instead, her death is described as peaceful.

    The little mermaid, Cinderella, Rapunzel and parts of Snow White are normal to me. I grew up with these versions here in Germany. It wasn't disturbing or anything like that, calm down.

    Mulan's real story is like this
    Mulan wants to go to the war because her dad has heavy sickness and there's her younger brother that can't go ofc and her mother have to stay home and take care of mulan's father.After she won the war,The king lets her to stay in the Castle,But mulan choose to go back to her family but there isn't a bad ending.She said that "Girls can be as strong as boys,girls can be strong."
    But this story is not real,It's just a legend.I know this because im Chinese and I just learned this not too long ago.
    Hua mulan (花木蘭)

    • @happinesss2
      @happinesss2 8 лет назад

      yeah.. they based mulan off a poem which is based on the real character but obviously dramatized.. the actual heroine had a different tale from the poem I believe... but I'm not a historian haha

      exactly! and one of the sentences at the end of the ballad says that the comrades realize that she was a woman and stay beside her twelve years, then its say "The rabbit's legs jump more, the eyes of the female one are smaller but if you see them running, who can tell the diference betwen a bunny and a hare?" it's spaking that there is not diference betwen a man and woman about what both genders are capable of. A beautifull ballad.

    In Snow White the prince and snow have the evil stepmother wear hot iron shoes that she's forced to dance on untill she dies.
    In beauty and the beast Belle does end up with the beast while turning him into a prince again. Her two sisters are turned to stone by an enchantress after trying to kill Belle because they were jalouse of her. They can turn into a human again if they can find love. Which, considering they're made of stone, would be pretty hard.

      People who believe that Disney princesses always get there "Happily ever after" is a fool, I'm 13 (almost 14) and I've knew the original stories about Disney princess and there tales since I was 9 years old. The one thing I hate most about Disney is that all the princesses are skinny and unrealistic, I get that it's a movie, but they could make it more realistic.

      They would have seen Gretel dump the witch into her own oven, burning her to death. The Brothers Grimm had some seriously horrible things in their stories, which became happy-go-lucky animated movies. Bravo, Disney, you make little kids think that there is nothing but happy endings in the world, and then they're thrown into the real world and realize what the truth is.

    And as for Tangled, her fake mother does cut her hair and banish her. And the prince is blinded by thorns but cured by Repunzels tears.

    The thing about Pocahontas being raped and becoming pregnant via said rape is merely hearsay derived from oral tradition without an solid evidence to back it up. Also, looking at the date of her marriage to Rolfe and the birthdate of their son, their marriage took place on April 6 of 1614 and Thomas Rolfe was born January 30th of the next year; assuming her pregnancy lasted the full 40 weeks, I suppose it's possible she could have been pregnant at the wedding, but it's also possible she could have gotten pregnant immediately after. As for her first marriage, the jury is still out on that one; apparently oral tradition claims she was married, but only one document mentions this person and some people say it may have been referring to John Rolfe by some kind of rank that Powhatan gave him. Also, her cause of death was never determined; only one author claims she was poisoned; it's just as likely she got some disease, since death by sickness was a relatively common death on sea voyages back then. Just felt like I should mention these things.

    • @princeofdarkness4711
      @princeofdarkness4711 8 лет назад

      +princeofalbany What you said is pretty true, since no one is over 500 hundred years old, any recorded history is pretty vague as ANY man, politician, or royal figure can pretty much be poisoned, and any female figure can be raped, or any person no matter ethnicity or gender can be strangled to death with their deaths forever left a mystery. Apparently, history is just for those who are just loves the drama and questions that surrounds it.
      History isn't written by what is moral or right by today's society's view of what is right and wrong, but on who writes it first, and which nation comes out as dominant in that time period. As if today, most Western Societies write modern history... but what does that say about the future being controlled by another dominant force from a new form of foreign land or nation? Humanity is always interesting no matter what they do, Morality is only human perception.

    I am Taiwanese and I know the Mulan thing in this clip is untrue. The tale never said Mulan went back to a broken home, nor did it say Mulan married to anyone or committed suicide. The ballad this clip mentioned was in my Chinese textbook, and it ends at Mulan's family threw her a big party when she returned home, and Mulan proudly said "who could tell I am male or female?" There are some drama and literature tried to tell the story after Mulan went home, but they are all fictional and none of them ends with Mulan becoming a concubine or killing herself. Most of them end with Mulan marrying her team mate in the army.

    I love how in every Disney princess movie girls are like Oh we don't need a man GIRL POWER!!! Which I'm all for girl power, but no one ever mentions what happened in the hunchback of Notre Dame when of corse Esmerelda falls for the more attractive man. I mean of corse who would fall for Quasimodo he has a lazy eye and a hunchback. Sexist. But if we say that Esmerelda was a boy and Quasimodo was a girl and he fell for the more attractive of the to people would be furious.

      As a Chinese, we all learn "The Ballad of Mulan"(the origin of Mulan's story) in junior high text book (acctually a very important part in our high school exam), the ballad said no such thing about concubine and suicide, she was bestowed with the position of military chancellor but refused and returned home safely, that's where the story ended. Mulan was a real person living in 1500 years ago, but the concubine and suicide story was from a 15th century's novel and recorded only on a tablet in a local Mulan temple( it was said that the emperor wanted her to be a concubine but she refused by killing herself). So even in China, as we all know about Mulan's story, the concubine and suicide thing is quite bizarre and questionable to most of us.

    That bit about Mulan is not in the original poem. Here's a link:
    afe.easia.columbia.edu/ps/china/mulan.pdf
    See? Nothing about concubines or suicide.
    The bit about Mulan becoming a concubine and committing suicide didn't come until later, in a novel written in the 1600s, long after the poem was made. While it could definitely count as a "dark secret" to the story, it was not in the original one. The original poem had about as much adult material as the Disney version did.

But I do like the whole sisterhood concept. I thought they did better though with Snow White, she was incredibly stupid in the original (messed up THREE times) and I liked the Disney sleeping beauty better...the whole troll thing sorta grossed me out, prince Phillip was cooler and better. I also liked how they did beauty and the beast better. The whole "I will kill your father" and belle taking his place and then beast going "will you marry me?" Was to bipolar for me. That's my opinion though.

    Mulan actually returned from war and continued her get up as a guy and campaigned as a political/military leader for quiet sometime until returning home to take care of her elderly parents. That's when they found out she was actually female but she really didnt get much fame from it while still alive
