When I turned 18, my grandma (whom I'd live with since I was 9 y.o.), passed away unexpectedly and about 2 weeks after, my uncle began sxually abusing me. At the same time, trying to feel needed and alive, I endured 3 years of D.V. with an ex bf of mine, and after that I'd sadly become hypersexual, being with just about anybody that would call me pretty😢... The sx abuse went on until I was around 27😢 when I finally spoke out about it. My whole family turned on me, called me names, etc. Im now 30, single and still healing, but listening to this song takes me back to when I would cry at night, hoping for it all to end, yet craving for anyone's love, compassion, empathy and company. I ended up finding all of that in myself eventually, through psychotherapy. I became a therapist myself and now hope to help ppl heal through self-knowledge, self-acceptance and self-love. 🤍✨ Jhené's music has always been there for me, and I like to believe we've grown together, since her music has too shifted perspectives. Im not proud of going through all that, but I am proud I was able to grow out of all the pain and anger, find my true self, a purpose to live and most importantly, finding my self worth. ❤

@@rethgual8227 girl it was really hard and it took a long time. idk if you're heartbroken or just going through depression. but a few years back my depression was mixed with addiction and I honestly couldn't see myself making it out. but it got to the point where I knew I wanted to better myself, so I got treatment for my addiction and after much time I beat my addiction. and I'm kinda wierd and talk to myself in my head, and I would just repeatedly tell myself I only have this one life and I've already wasted so much time taking it for granted so I wanted to live to the fullest and eventually I started feeling thankful again. thankful for every new day I get the chance to live. you have to find little things that make you happy and really cherish the people you love and you have to learn to love yourself again and find your confidence. I started exercising and working on myself that way and it really helped, like any signs of progress would make me so excited. I feel like I've trained my mind to be more positive and it definitely takes time and there will definitely be hard days, but on those hard days that I can feel my depression trying to creep up on me, I just remind myself that it's a bad day not a bad life. and I know it's so much easier said than done but I hope you can stay strong and remember that those dark days will not last forver, this too shall pass. try to train your mind to be positive, Google different techniques, and get help, get medication if your doctor thinks that will help and don't let anyone make you feel ashamed for it, different people need different things to heal. but please try not to turn to street drugs, it will just numb the pain for a little while and next thing you know you will have a whole new problem.
