For those who may be wondering, to boondoggle means “to take part in an unnecessary or wasteful project or activity”. Papyrus uses it to describe what Sans does with his time. And since Sans makes skeleton puns, the title of the song becomes “Bonedoggle”. Again, this is just in case someone wants to know why the song is called “Bonedoggle”.
As difficult as it is to beat… Despair absolutely lives up to its name. That slow build up gives you nothing but a false sense of security in its purest form, just for the absolute nightmare that the song is to strip it away in an instant
They’ll be buffing the despair song soon tho, it’s a shame they nerfed it in the unlocking the nightmare songs patch :/ but it’ll be even harder than it’s original (I think, maybe it’ll just be as hard as it’s original, idk) sooner or later in the v2 update it’ll get

It's really cool how that is, so many mods suffer from just putting a totally stupid difficulty spike compared to the rest of the mod and then requiring you to complete it if you want to see all the secrets, it's just not as fun when you have to experience that imo
After personnally "Nightmare Run" the 4th song in Bendy week was a very hight pic of difficulties. Even with no other mecanic than the special notes, I had a lot of troubles to pass that...
I feel like the name of Bendy's nightmare song is really appropriate. Being named "Despair" after the easy start into all of the mechanics kicking your ass into submission is truly appropriate.
Let me just say it: MORØ and the rest of the devs definitely played Cuphead. The fact that the Chaser bullets are weaker just like in the game, the Roundabout EX attack is a boomerang, and also parries.
@@SourCoffeeExpert they for sure played it. Unlike triple a game dev teams, FNF modders actually play games for the most part. Indie Cross is literally a a fan mod there's no way they didn't play the game

I like that he starts from the absolute beginning of a song to let us know that this is the run that he finally does it, and he’ll stay completely silent too. Not a lot of people do that for their viewers.
If I've said it once, I'll say it again: Indie Cross is absolutely the most fun I've ever had getting my ass whooped by an fnf mod. No matter how many times I died or hit a blue note on accident or spam hit too many Ink notes, I was still smiling ear to ear, laughing off each death like an idiot because its just so much god damn fun.
Same lol. Sure ive died and got mad alot, but the anger died out very quickly. It helps that these are some of my favorite characters from these games(Cuphead especially). The gimmicks are fun to go against a learn, and even with death notes it doesnt get too frustrating thanks to how well theyre placed in the charting(not in spam sections for most parts). Overall just a fun mod, I cant really be mad at it when dying lol.
you don’t need to beat all the nightmare songs to see all of ‘em, you can just play them once and the other will be unlocked. still though, skill unissue?
My problem with despair isn't the diffficutly, it's the combat mechanic. In last reel it works because you have ample opertunity to see when they're going to attack. However when you're playing a chart like despair, it just comes down to mashing the spacebar to constantly dodge. It's not fun. There's no point in attacking because they come back in like 5 seconds and so it just becomes mash the spacebar while playing a really hard chart. It's a failure of a mechanic (not that the mechanic's bad, but the usage of it in despair). Honestly I quite liked the mechanic, but it was too complicated to be added to a hard chart. There may be hope though. you could always make it simpler but that's no fun, so let's go in the opposite direction. If you made it take more attention to hit them but they only take one hit and stay away for a while it would become a risk/reward situation for the player where you could try to kill them but risk losing in the chart, however if you did it you wouldn't have to deal with them for the next twenty seconds or smth. You could make it harder to kill them by having an attack that has a tell that you can parry (by attacking). This would be the only time you could kill them, any other attack they do you would have to dodge. Let me know if you have any better ideas, but I like the mechanic and just hate how it's used. Edit: oh, and also don't have the scroll speed take off like a freakin jet.
I'm fine with the scroll speed since I'm used to it being slightly faster but you explained my problem with despair absolutely perfectly! I love the other nightmare songs to death but despair falls just a little short because it's mechanics just don't mesh well with the chart, it begins to feel like a constant tug of war between which part has your attention and it's almost impossible to focus on the chart while keeping tabs on the enemies as well (especially on the last part in which I have to rely on getting lucky with when I press space cuz I just start to lose focus at that point) That said, I am determined to beat it(I just need to survive the last round out of pure luck)
I actually ended up setting my autoclicker on my mouse so that it would spam spacebar, it was that infuriating. I still haven't been able to beat it though, due to the shakiness right at the end as well as the dark background making it almost impossible for me to see the notes properly. I agree with everything you said here, it's just not fun.
This mod was so good I loved every reference in it. Especially the tutorial screens for cuphead and the mechanic to attack. Plus, the retry screen for cuphead was amazing. It really makes you feel like you’re playing Cuphead as the boss lol
The only reason I put the tricky mod as my no.1 fav mod is because of nostalgia, the music, and the emotion and anger behind expurgation. Wonderful mod, definitely in my top 5 mods of all time.
Fun fact: I think at the first part of sans first song, whoopie is actually a reference to sans first ever attack when we fight him, a reference to sans dialogue, “I wonder why people dont use their strongest attack first” I need some approval from devs LOL
I just realized. There’s a really high amount of references in the 2 undertale bonus songs that specifically aren’t Megalovania, like at least 4. Mad respect for that
1:40:02 By the way i figured something out too. You can use the same method for left and right attack too. It works and makes the song much easier than just only binding dodge button
To be fair, a lot of protagonists in 30s-style media have very similar voices. It probably wasn't that hard to predict what he'd sound like. That being said, yes, it is spot-on.
Completely agreed, honestly the only song I disliked was ritual, but that's just my opinion was a bit too slow along with that out of NOWHERE Dodge at the end. Everything else is honestly S tier work. Even the nightmare songs being ridiculously hard are so fun to get right.

“Remember when Ballistic was hard” is really outdated, do you remember when EXPURGATION was hard?! Edit: the way I wanted the joke to go was to continue with increasingly harder songs, like “Remember when ECTOSPASM HELL was hard?!?!”, and after one year, someone finally took the joke to where it was supposed to go Edit 2: Directing myself at the replies, the “remember when I was hard” is very stupid but kinda funny, and yes, I know Expurgation is still hard, *that’s the joke*
For people who are confused about the first sans song whoopee and why it’s so hard at the start it’s a reference to “I always wonder why people don’t use their strongest attack first” in undertale when you start the sans fight
I first tried binding both attacks and dodge to space and spamming space, but eventually I just decided to use a second keyboard and spam space with my foot while I can actually focus on the notes (tbh the death notes in Despair were weirdly easy to avoid, after like 60 tries I think I only died to the shadow notes about twice, everything else was from either the Fisher or just running out of health from my screen being covered)
@@hypermaeonyx4969 and new players, mind you, which is why you can turn them off. (idk how much of a veteran you are, Despair is BS unless you have a second keyboard to spam space
Well... Well... Who would have thought that fnf would get to something like this, dodging, attacking and high quality cutscenes.. This mod is so good because of team work, like 40 people worked in this mod 👁️, if u have a team u can do anything possible
Pretty sure the next game to be featured will be Hollow Knight, it was one of the games in the intro, and the sound at the end of the credits is from the game
I just realized something awesome!! Nightmare run has something else thats pretty cool: The less health you have, the closer Bendy gets to Boyfriend What a nice touch!
There actually is an indication to when they're going to attack in Devil's Gambit. Cuphead's finger has a small spark right before they're going to attack.
Return of the King Also gotta love the complaint of "not putting nightmare songs into a seperate difficulty" while it's litterally in a seperate dificulty (Ik you already acknowledged that)
I used to think you were cringe in videos more than 5 months ago, but now I think you're pretty funny! Keep up the good work! And the improving because it's really good!
Okay, Bonedoggle is my new favorite FNF song, 100%. Not only does the song go INSANELY hard, but there's SO much personality to it (oh, and it's a Sans song that isn't just pure angst, so that's a big plus).
@@BlackScreenProductions125 well the only ones I think are angsty are Sansational genocide, and Burning in Hell. (Not including nightmare. I don't even understand that.)
Devil's gambit actually does have indication for when you need to dodge. When he's about to use a super on you he points and his finger flashes (he does this for like half a second). This last so little time, and it almost always happens when you're playing notes, so it's basically impossible to see in normal gameplay.
You can also hear the charge up sound before he attacks but it’s still barely noticeable, you might as well just learn the timings from trial and error or just spam space
Well done with the editing. There were part that made me laugh due to the editing of some clips where they get cut off at the perfect timing as well the commentary😂
One of the achievements is to beat last reel without dodging so even if you completely forgot there was a dodge button it is still beatable. (Though you have to time your attacks right and take a few hits).
Like the cross tag references this game has, also glad to see they implemented the combat mechanics in this mod, a lot of people don't know pve mods have been out for a bit.
I binded mine right next to the dfjk keys, so now my attacks are s and l. Makes it easier for the fingers to attacks while trying to hit notes and of course, no sticky keys.
Nobody notices at the last part of Despair you can just hit the opponent’s notes so you don’t get tripped up by the shaking and death notes, easy win if you do that.
The shaking and death notes aren’t really distracting, it’s trying to dodge and attack the Butcher Gang while also playing the chart that makes it hard
I love the little detail of MugMan being the only outside character to get injured and than these borders being put in the last two weeks so no outside forces can interfere.
Bad Time is literally harder than the actual sans fight, even comparing the genres. Sans is pretty hard, but not too hard after you've gotten practice at bullet hells throughout the game. Someone who's good at them to begin with might beat him first try. That song is something that literally nobody is going to beat on their first try.
Yeah, I suck at bullet-hells, but it only took me about a month to beat Sans, while I have absolutely no idea how one would even begin to approach beating Bad Time.
That's because the overall skill ceiling of every genre of games has massively increased since Undertale came out. I can swear that if it came out today, the sans fight would be 10 times harder than Bad Time and the one we actually have now. Since the Gaming Industry has grown insurmountably during these past years, more and more effort is being put into polishing the skills of the devoted players to the absolute maximum. Things that were considered impossible in the past in every genre of games have been conquered now (examples may include Geometry Dash, FNF, and just Undertake Fangames in general).
@@alexicon2006 not really. Touhou's been around since 1997, and that series is WAY harder than anything in Undertale, to the point of being the quintessential "unfair bullet-hell" series. It has nothing to do with how much time has passed.
Gotta hand it to ya buddy, you died so much on bad time but credit's for not giving up, even i beated it once but never got to win again but lots of luck in thr future with your channel
As a one handed arrow keys player this mod honestly wasn't that bad, I was able to pass all of the songs with the exception of the last 2 nightmare ones decently fast, most notably somehow beating burning in hell on my third try. I'd say the Cuphead week might even be easier one handed, as I had more ease to do the gimmicks.

This mod is literally a masterpiece, it’s so good, thank you for playing this because it’s insane and the gameplay is entertaining
“Remember when Ballistic was hard” is really outdated, do you remember when EXPURGATION was hard?!
Edit: the way I wanted the joke to go was to continue with increasingly harder songs, like “Remember when ECTOSPASM HELL was hard?!?!”, and after one year, someone finally took the joke to where it was supposed to go
Edit 2: Directing myself at the replies, the “remember when I was hard” is very stupid but kinda funny, and yes, I know Expurgation is still hard, *that’s the joke*
REMEMBER WHEN FOOLHARDY WAS HARD!?
REMEMBER when week 4 mom was hard?
Remember when WEEK 2 WAS HARD?

Niffirg: how dose bendy even kill bf?
Bendy: so anyways I started swinging.
For people who are confused about the first sans song whoopee and why it’s so hard at the start it’s a reference to “I always wonder why people don’t use their strongest attack first” in undertale when you start the sans fight
Most people when the game gets hard: *disables mechanics*
Niff: "What if I bind my dodge to an arrow I'm already pressing?"
Me who change difficulty:
not too bad of an idea actually
I first tried binding both attacks and dodge to space and spamming space, but eventually I just decided to use a second keyboard and spam space with my foot while I can actually focus on the notes (tbh the death notes in Despair were weirdly easy to avoid, after like 60 tries I think I only died to the shadow notes about twice, everything else was from either the Fisher or just running out of health from my screen being covered)
the mechanics are literally what make the mod stand out from every other fnf mod in existence and make it more difficult for pros and veterans
@@hypermaeonyx4969 and new players, mind you, which is why you can turn them off. (idk how much of a veteran you are, Despair is BS unless you have a second keyboard to spam space
I talked with the maker of "despair" CDmusic in a vc and they said that they made the song longer just to fuck with people.

I personally think the difficulty for the nightmare songs is fine. But only because there's nothing locked behind them.
You actually got a few laughs out of me, despite being an hour long video you managed to make it entertaining, definitely subscribing.
Well...
I do not want to imagine what the fight with radiance would be like in this mod
also 48:48 is nosk (hollow knight song)
I think we'll be fighting the hollow knight
Bendy feels really similar to hollow knight too
More supporting evidence is the radiance screech at the end of the campaign
cant wait to see what models cally3d has made for fnaf
I just realized something awesome!!
Nightmare run has something else thats pretty cool:
The less health you have, the closer Bendy gets to Boyfriend

Burning in hell is my favourite song of this mod.
I love how faithful this mod is to all of the source material
Yes!! Burning in hell is my absolute favorite. I've fcd it on hell difficulty at this point. So much fun.
There actually is an indication to when they're going to attack in Devil's Gambit.
Cuphead's finger has a small spark right before they're going to attack.
also there's the sound. If you react to the sound it's really easy to dodge
Return of the King
Also gotta love the complaint of "not putting nightmare songs into a seperate difficulty" while it's litterally in a seperate dificulty (Ik you already acknowledged that)
His brain was fried after, like, 5 hours of grinding -his face against a wall-
They censored Sam’s “what the fuck” but have boyfriend getting “multiple concussions and open wounds”
To be fair, none of the songs here have angst, just sans wanting to brutally murder you at worst XD
@@gabrielmachado1247 I'd say murder's kinda angsty.
@@BlackScreenProductions125 well the only ones I think are angsty are Sansational genocide, and Burning in Hell.
(Not including nightmare. I don't even understand that.)
I know right? And how the beat drops so hard near the end is just the BEST
love the reference of sans just sleeping during the fight
I love the screen shake in the nightmare songs, it's not excessive to the point of hurting your eyes and also makes it a lil bit more difficult.
I love how he questions how Bendy would even kill the bf right before Bendy proceeds to lay down the ass beating of the century on bf
There were part that made me laugh due to the editing of some clips where they get cut off at the perfect timing as well the commentary😂
i love indie cross
We all do :)
Modders should earn money for the blood, sweat, and tears they have put into this incredible mod.
Bad Time looks insane but also sounds so gooood. Love that song and huge congrats on clearing it!

VS. Cassette Girl : *Am I a joke to you?*
Yes it is.
One of the achievements is to beat last reel without dodging so even if you completely forgot there was a dodge button it is still beatable. (Though you have to time your attacks right and take a few hits).
Like the cross tag references this game has, also glad to see they implemented the combat mechanics in this mod, a lot of people don't know pve mods have been out for a bit.
niffirg, just go into the settings for your computer and TURN OFF THE STICKY KEYS SHORTCUT.
That would be violating the sacred law of the internet
@@Theking0fgg I violated the sacred law of the internet then
I binded mine right next to the dfjk keys, so now my attacks are s and l. Makes it easier for the fingers to attacks while trying to hit notes and of course, no sticky keys.
I like it how niffirg got an achievement on accident in the final cuphead part in story mode by saving mugman at the end
"why doesent bendy kill him?"
*bendy instantly starts killing him*
The guy with the Bendy mask is called Sammy Lawrence! He’s the former head of the music department who went crazy and started worshiping Bendy
i thought he was called samsam
hes a super intense minecraft player
Nobody notices at the last part of Despair you can just hit the opponent’s notes so you don’t get tripped up by the shaking and death notes, easy win if you do that.
The shaking and death notes aren’t really distracting, it’s trying to dodge and attack the Butcher Gang while also playing the chart that makes it hard
ik, its too late for it but i say, charting is different in some moments at the last drop, so.....
man i was a dumbass 9 months ago lol
“Bendy man” is Sammy Lawrence whose only defining personality trait is worshiping bendy and making rituals for him

I love the little detail of MugMan being the only outside character to get injured and than these borders being put in the last two weeks so no outside forces can interfere.
Oh yeah. If there borders were there in week one, Mugman wouldn't have to die
Yeah, I suck at bullet-hells, but it only took me about a month to beat Sans, while I have absolutely no idea how one would even begin to approach beating Bad Time.
well in actual undertale, sans don't do funny beep bop and throwing orange bones so fair enough if it's going to be harder
