I'm not into Christmas anymore. I usually avoid Christmas content. But I don't mind when it comes to Theme Park Worldwide. I love Shawn and Charlotte’s positive vibes and childlike wonder for all things Christmas. Honestly, theme parks in general. Even your adventure content. I recently watched you guys go to Walmart. Mandril Mayhem is great and it is Cool and it is my favourite ride at Chessington and my second favourite ride of 2023 right behind Curse at the Alton Manor

Hey guys loving the recent vlogs! As a bit of feedback, 1 thing I have missed from you this closed season is more of the talking to camera videos, Top 10 lists such as an updated Top 10 Favourite Theme parks list. It would also be great to finally hear Charlottes official Top 10s of coasters, water rides etc too!

I used to live Chessington, we nearly went every Sunday but since that started building Jumanji the whole place has a fair ground vibe to it. Their rides are unreliable and it’s usually messy. The good thing that come out of it is that we pushed on to Alton towers where we got to meet your lovely mum in the hotel shop. We do however keep missing you two! We’re normally on opposite side of the park when you visit. 👍 mandrill makes me feel sick too…. Spin ball at Alton does the same. Favourite ride is curse at Alton manor.

I have done Mandrill Mayhem twice, both on row 6 right side. I was surprised that you said it was your favourite seat. I would have loved a back row ride

Mandrill at night is great. I got a couple of night rides at the passholder day a couple of weeks ago and the lighting is really good

1:17 I heard the chain snapped on vampire in the last week of the main season and instead of fixing it and reopening they just started winter maintenance.

With mandrill mayhem being open for Christmas if Alton Towers ever decided to expand their ride line up it makes me think if other B&Ms could be open for Christmas eg. Oblivion and Nemesis

PS I will have to try The World of Jumanji maybe a few years later. We couldn’t beat a bit of Tchaikovsky and his flower waltz at the end.

I know this is a bit random but would you class Grand National as 1 or 2 coasters and steeplechase as 1 or 3? Also great video as always.
1 coaster for National as it’s one track. Steeplechase is 3 coaster tracks!

I am a bit disappointed with Chessington on the non themed gates, think I saw them while visiting in Summer 2023? Think they need removing & themed ones put in place especially big ones? For all lands or certain? Would of thought Tomb Blaster be open for Christmas as its inside & all year ride? Nope, need more indoor attractions here, as much as I would love to see a big GCI Wooden Coaster or RMC here, I think an indoor family coaster here would be a good new addition for all? For all year purposes, especially to extend all year line up. Pantomime was ok, think could aswell have had more theming a.k.a physical props, background staging etc. All on a screen really plane, think more theming and less replying on screen for next year I think. World of Jumanji at night looked a bit epic, could do with bit more lighting in places, but apart from that really good, good to see the statue all in green lighting. Was a good addition for Chessington & cannot wait for what is added in future. Nice vlog, enjoyed and look forward to more in future. 😀👍
Mamba Strike is quite fast and Awesome and Ostrich Stampede is Cool too but I like Mandril Mayhem better

The event was acceptable as they go, but even compared to say Legoland’s isn’t anything to write home about. The panto was nice though.

Does anyone know if you can use merlin passes over Christmas? The website is ambiguous 🧐
I used mine last Saturday at Chessington with no issue for entry with a pre-book. I enjoyed the visit with some friends and had a few goes on mandril.

I get sick on flying coaster at Alton towers. Laying down, so maybe going backwards might be why you feel sick on that first coaster you went on, it’s odd how the inner ears messes with you and the horizon line. Same we see sickness. I also cannot go round and round. I mainly a coaster and a swing person 🤘🏼or water ride.

The green fencing looks very permanent and it doesn’t look like they can take them out. it would of looked nicer if they had declarations on or maybe banners with the logo on
The Christmas panto was ok but it definitely needs some props and sets
The Christmas attractions should also be included in the cost of the event
Altogether the event is not very good
They should do a light trial around the park that is not open and also the ride offering is better but still could do with more open

I find it quite poor how Legoland can have almost the whole park open whilst CWOA have such a limited offering. What makes CWOA even worse is the offering is so spread out across the park its like getting a tour of all the rides you could have got.

Chessington's Winter Trail is Cool and the Gruffalo River ride Adventure is alright but it's nothing compared to its previous version as Bubbleworks

I think there's a hint in the title of their event, it mentions the word "Winter" instead of "Christmas". So perhaps the theme and feeling they're going for is more Winter instead of Christmas. That being said, if that is the case, there's still a definite lack of winter theming, snow machines, etc. I know it's freezing cold over there right now and probably feels wintery, but they haven't achieved that feeling in the park from what we saw. That being said, hard to do that in a park that seems to normally be themed tropical/nature/pirate. Agree with you those fences do look awful and they could have done something nicer there.
They really need to look at the overall presentation for the festive period!
The park that nails It Is Phantasialand. It's Winter Dreams, Not christmas Dream. They have so much to offer without the even being Christmas heavy.

Just been a few days ago…almost all the main rides (15) were closed, and due to be until April. No prior warning on the site. Advise to save your money!
Its end of season, tbh you cant blame merlin for that one thats on you
@@Yonel6969 Disagree. Standard end of season would usually see two or three shut down. Other places also advise of closed rides.
Chessington actively advertised rides that were closed, saying ‘book now’. Nowhere on the site to even find closed rides, not even when each individual ride was accessed for further information.
So no, that’s not on me, it’s on Chessington for false advertising. I’m a seasoned theme park goer, so I’m well aware of what is normal/decent.
@@boxing.cleverMerlin doesnt work like that. Thorpe is just closed. Altons shut apart from spinball. If anything chessington is the biggest themepark open in the uk during winter. And it says book now because its literally christmas, not to sound like an ass but your mistake isnt merlins fault. merlin do bad things, this isnt one of them
@@Yonel6969 I appreciate what you’re saying. However, Alton Towers has multiple rides open, including Gangsta Granny.
The reason I think you’re saying what you are, is because they have listed their Christmas rides….Chessington have done this NOW. They HADN’T at the time I booked, and have admitted as much in their email response to me.
I went out of my way to check the ride situation when booking, including looking at individual rides, where there was no mention of closures. Even now, you can’t actually get a direct notice on the site of closures, it’s just a mention of what ones are open in a small section of the site. I personally think it is not on, when for example, you see “check out our new croc drop, book now” and then it opens the calendar for right now. Anyone would be forgiven for assuming it would be open from that advertisement no?
Again, I get where you’re coming from, but in my particular case where prior research had taken place, I think there’s scope for an improvement from them. Especially as their own sites states they rarely close any rides in advance of people’s visits, and yet they clearly have a host of them down for the winter. Why not just state this clearly. We all know the answer 🤔

I checked for closed rides specifically ahead of booking, and nothing was mentioned. As per my email from them, they have now listed the rides that are open. Alton Towers literally says “only selected rides open” before you even click their link. Nothing similar for Chessington.
Just even seen reviews from residents saying loads of rides that are normally open, aren’t this year.
I fully appreciate some would be closed in winter, but FIFTEEN?! With zero mention. Not even an asterisk next to the rides….that’s poor. If I pulled a stunt like that in my old place of work, I’d have been crucified by the members. Personally, I would list everything clearly, rather than being sneaky. That’s the difference.

Those new gated sections remind me of a prison! Very authoritarian-looking with no attempt to theme into the areas. How odd!
