As a huge shoujo fan well its honestly fine to not enjoy shoujo anime! I love cliche shoujo story plots and shoujo romance with handsome male leads and cute casts of characters but I understand how those can be annoying and repetitive to a lot of people. It's the same reason I don't enjoy shounen romance where the main character who's a huge loser gains a harem of pretty girls! It's just not geared towards my personal taste but there's nothing wrong with enjoying trashy repetitive plots as I do too but in a different format. In a way my happy marriage is no exception to this but it just carries itself better than most cliche shoujo romance. I do think there is something to miss out on in shoujo stories as they tend to be more emotionally complex and have their own certain charm to them. While there are cliche shoujo stories there are also not cliche shoujo stories! There are even a lot of action oriented shoujo stories. I just wish more of them were in the spotlight so they can get the recognition they deserve. If you haven't read shoujo before give it a try! You never know if you might like it 🌸

I think that shojo animes are underrated because of Japanese intertainment industry being male driven.
Considering It's targeted towards teenage girls, it's fairly rated.

I finished watching my happy marriage today a few minutes ago and when I saw the beginning I thought it was going to be a boring anime but I felt like I’ll give it a chance and then I ended up finishing it in just one hour. Yep. Pretty much me - as someone who never gave a crud about any singe shoujo anime, except kids & shonen (1 or 2 seinen), this was my reaction to "My Happy Marriage"
Lately I have been loving well written stories with female protagonists, when I was younger I loved watching cool fight scenes and epic explosions that were a little edgy but then I realised that I also really like female leads and the different perspectives they provide, I have watched and read more female lead stories over the past few years and can’t wait for more

Let's be honest, the majority of anime fans are for the most part shounen fans who will never appreciate a good anime if it doesn't have great fight scenes which is the reason that a lot of shoujo, slice of life, romance, romcons get a lot of unfair hate
The saddest things is there are shojos with lots of action scenes like Hakuoki, Karneval, 07 ghost or X-1999 to name a few but most of the time anime fans dismissed them just because they are shojos 😢
sad thing is that shoujo with action like qq sweeper/queens quality dont get anime adaptations
A lot of Shoujo are psychological dramas, and psychological dramas almost always have a very slow start.
See for example a psychological drama that wasn't a shoujo: Clannad.
Fruits Basket is another psychological drama with a very slow start, the pay off is so worth it though.

Hate to be the “um actually 🤓” person but it was published in a seinen magazine. Weirdly enough one of the novels has a female demographic. Great series regardless of demographic. I cannot wait to see how it turns out.

@@ColorMeHoppy He's correct though. Fruits Basket is currently the highest rated shoujo anime in MAL right now. It's also the best shoujo anime for me since most shoujo anime are either incomplete or poorly adapted. But when it comes to shoujo or josei manga, Fruits Basket not even in my top 5.

I love My Happy Marriage. It makes me fangirl and scream out of joy. As someone who started anime with shonen, I honestly think I prefer shoujo. It’s not just romance, but also showing other types of relationships (platonic, familial, etc). I love animes where I don’t have to remember too much lore to enjoy. My Happy Marriage is one of them. Highly recommend, it gets you in your feels lol.
