    Ahh Mike - I've missed your videos. Vagisil - had me and my sweetie laughing out loud. Nice kit - and what you didn't point out was that the kit is only the start. Your knowledge of knowing what values to change the map to is the real talent.

      Hi Steve. Yeah, that kit is pretty awesome, it’s staggering how ingenious the aftermarket World is, to reverse engineer to reach a solution so well.
      I’ve seen both sides of the fence, but ironically, to calibrate the engine for the automaker, or to reverse engineer a calibration for aftermarket… It requires altogether more intellect to correctly reverse engineer in aftermarket compared to the World of OEM

    Another great video. I’ve got a 2012 V8 Vantage S which is a wonderful car but I’m sure that it can be improved and I look forward to chatting with you about it soon.

    Very interesting video, I just need more knowledge about the topic to fully appreciate what you actually did when modifying the data. Not having any hands on experience with remapping but a good general understanding of how it works, would it not be fair to say the following:
    If a car Is left standard, the ECU is programmed with a map that’s the best compromise, considering performance, drive ability and legislation ?
    Once you start modifying the car with clutch, manifolds, exhaust systems, cams and injectors is when a remap is required to accommodate those modifications by changing various profiles and even switch of monitoring because the legislative requirements are no longer possible to meet ?
    I can easily see how it’s possible to mess up various profiles with drivability suffering and even massive engine failures as a result.
    All that said, I’ll be seeing you when my N430 needs a dual clutch conversion. However, despite having put about 9000 miles on it since you did a post purchase inspection last year, my Foxwell nt680 still report wear data well within the serviceable range 😊

      @@BamfordRose Sure thing - I guess you’ve built up the library of data with rolling road runs on various spec cars? So if I wanted my V12V with your exhausts or cams or whatever you could pick the map you know you’ve used before and benchmarked? If so makes sense.

    Sorry if it's a silly question, but could that vehicle still be serviced by a dealer? Would AMDS throw up error codes? I'd love a DB9. Having previously owned an old Bentley, you'd think I'd know better. P.S. bikes don't need a cat to pass an mot.

      If the ECU has been remapped, AMDS can service / diagnose the ECU exactly the same, if it had not been remapped

    Giday Mike, John here from one of the colonies (New Zealand) haha. So ive just watched the video and have a question or 2.
    So you mentioned late in the video that you would sit in the passenger seat while the owner was driving and datalogging the driving....thats great but how can you do that if the ecu is unplugged as appears to be. Also how can you get hyper accurate information from the ecu without having the car on a dyno?
    Or is what im talking about, something that can only be done with an aftermarket ecu such as a MoTec or Link ecu.
    Id also be interested to hear your thoughts as to why a number of the V12 engines have vastly different power outputs but seem to be the engines seem as tho they are all the same? Is it compression?
    Anyway, love your videos and keep up the great work 👍

    Timely video. Thanks. I’ve just discovered that my Vantage has a map on it that’s non-standard (I know, I know, better PPI but here we are). AMDS didn’t recognise it so no idea where it came from, when or what it is. No mods other than a twin plate clutch was fitted.
    No apparent problems but the fact that I don’t know what it is has me spooked.
    Roll back to factory and then go from there?

      Even the factory issue a remap file with each AMR kit.
      I’d not be overly worried.
      If the fuelling profile and spark profile / curve is okay at wide open throttle, I’m sure the remap is okay.
      If you are that spooked. Have it flashed back to standard using AMDS (3-5 minute job) and then if there are any issues (which there shouldn’t be) on a standard calibration, seek a professional remap

    If there is EVER a chance of overwriting a master file you don't want to lose, then just set the file attributes on the laptop to "read-only". This will then force you to create a new name to save it under.
    You wouldn't even need to get In touch with Alien-Tech at all!

    I would not ever buy a car which has been Remaped the chances are its had a hard life AM know there cars and the levels of performance in side out thats good enough for me to leave well alone

    Why always changing things? An Aston Martin is such a fantastic car. Leave it as it is and enjoy. (And the factory engeneers are not dumb at all)

      A good point if everything was blue sky. Unfortunately it’s not.
      There are components which go wrong. If removing them and modifying was to overt a looming bigger disaster, it’s better to preventative maintenance.
      Also, remember that when in original design and development, I saw the project for the OEM for approx. 3 years before the project went from development engineering to current production engineering.
      Now I have seen the product for 13 further years in the world of aftermarket, it’s now possible to not just evolve the product better than the short time the factory saw it, but evolve it to stop bigger problems from happening.
      Not so much for a 565 BHP V12. But in 2023, a 2004 V8 at 380BHP weighing in at 1750 ish Kg, is a bit lacklustre compared to even modern day family hack around car.
      When a pair of manifolds pep that same car up to 430 BHP, no wonder owners modify.
