@calmini4x4 Some of these cars are now 29 years old. So over time the weatherstrip on any vehicle becomes dry rotted and tends to fail. The seals that we carry will replace all of those, and help to keep the moisture out of your Chevy Camaro.
We currently do not. This video will show you how to remove the old seals and scrape the channels down so that you can install new seals. The new seals should be installed with 3M adhesive to ensure a proper weather tight seal. Hope this helps you out.
You may want to help prevent leaking, and to also help secure them in place. 1aauto.com 888-844-3393
The heat gun gave me idea how to remover weatherstripping off my 93 Corvette taga top! Thanks for this helpful video!
@smitty6293 Anything is possible....that being said, you would be better off selling your hardtop and buying a car with T-Tops, it will be much more cost effective in the long run.
@2424spike The weatherstrip should be reapplied with 3M weatherstrip adhesive. We sell the seals and the 3M adhesive on our website 1aauto.com Hope this helps you out.
The issue with a pencil torch is that it could catch the old rubber on fire where as the heat gun would be less harsh and control the heat going to the weatherstripping. We do carry the part. You can view it through the link below: 1aauto.com/1A/Weatherstrip/Chevy/Camaro/1AWSC00007/256595/1982
Nice vid. My T-top seals came off clean with no problems. I was expecting it to be like this video. But absolutely no glue was used! (82 Firebird)
Should I re-apply new seals with adhesive???????????
I did this exact same thing on my 84 camaro. Its pretty easy, thanks for the help!
I love the hood of your Camaro. Nice video but I would really appreciate it if you can make a video on how to install the weather strip or just tell me in response how to.
Do you have an install video?
Is there a video for installing the T Top weatherstrip the correct way to avoid future leaks? BTW...love these vids...they're priceless for my 88 IROC!
+Joe Rampone We currently do not have an auto repair video that covers this repair. We do carry a ton of weatherstrip kits for your IROC. Here's a link to that section on our website. We also offer free shipping and a lifetime warranty www.1aauto.com/1986-chevy-camaro-weatherstripping/y-mo-c/1986-8-12#RUclips&CTA%20Comment

Question.............I replaced roof rail seals and it is done properly indeed..Yet i keep getting a wet back seat at the bottom where water pools under that back seat..I did not replace t top glass seals with that drip edge.. I run a water hose and the water travels across the roof down to the sides and finds some rear corner and it drips inside at the back edge of the t top drip edge..You think those other glass seals is my problem?
+Warriyah Ysrayl Thanks for checking us out! It's probably an issue with another weatherstrip seal or a seal issue between the inner and outer body panels. You will have to carefully inspect the vehicle to try and find out where the water is coming from. 1aauto.com
1A Auto Parts thx
is it possible to install T-Tops nd a non T-top trans am? like can you cut out the roof for t-tops?
Hello. Do you have any guide showing how to install /remove t-top hardware (hook style)
from 1982 trans am or camaro?
We currently do not have an auto repair video on this particular repair. We'll keep this request in mind in the event that we need to make this repair in the future. 1aauto.com 866-403-3393
@1aauto Thnks I will look at ur website.
can i use a pencil torch? do you stock those seals?
Hello 1A, I have an 87 Camaro iroc z28 with t-top. After getting my weather stripping replaced my tops still leak. After doing deeper research and watching your videos I am thinking I may need to something more along these lines to ensure a good seal. Right now I am unable to drive the car even in light rain. The last body shop I went to was not too excited about the idea of working on t-tops. I told them I may want them to take the t-tops off as with the weather stripping and the housing unit. Then sand down or fix any troubled areas. put on new weather stripping to allow for a better re-seal. They were not into doing the work. They pretty much said these always leak no matter what. What do I need to do or say to get a shop to do the work? How do I go about looking for a shop to do the work. What are my best options to seal the t-tops. Overall the car is in good shape. 81,000 original miles. Spent a few years in North Indiana weather but now have been in Idaho and in storage and treated well. Any advice on how to find out where or how the t-tops are leaking? Thanks
You should have any rust issues along the top channel fixed to ensure a better seal. These seals also require you to add 3M Adhesive to keep them in place and the elements out. The T-Top glass should also have an adjustment on them to loosen or tighten the seal when placed into position. You may also want to check this forum out and read some of the threads about how to troubleshoot these issues. thirdgen.org Hope this helps you out.
1A Auto Parts Thank you. I am a member of ThirdGen.org. After much research and a visit to a higher end custom body shop I have gotten the info I need. My doors and windows are quite a bit out of alignment. Plus the last time the weather stripping was redone it was not very good. All this together makes for quite the leaks. I am getting the work done I need on my doors and windows and I just bought weather stripping from you at 1AAuto yesterday. I will know more after all the work is completed. I will keep you posted. Thanks again.
@@AlejAndroAnastasio eight a long time to see my response..lol but I'm wondering how that went?
This is a great video series on the iroc-z. Shows the condition of a typical poor/fair version of this car and what to expect. Its just to bad the 80's was such a poor decade for american car quality.
Thanks for watching. Have a great day! 1aauto.com 888-844-3393
isnt this the seal all these cars have problems with?
Wheres the rest of the "how to replace" video? This is more of a "how to remove old weatherstrip ".
@smitty6293
or make it convertible..
The title says "how to replace...". It should have said how to remove as there is no footage of replacing, where's the part two?
+wesly holmstrom We do not have a video for the installation of the new pieces, but it will be the same as the removal just in reverse. Make sure the surfaces are all clean to insure the new weatherstripping adheres properly!
Do we have to throw sealant down or just lay the ruber in@@1AAuto
