another fun fact for you - both Mossy and Barnesy are real humanitarians. I have spent many years of my life in remote areas.. so to put on a concert you'll be lucky if you sell a thousand tickets.. basically the size of a football pitch. Best. Band. Ever. It's a shame the rest of the world missed out, but hey, at least you can get it now. They did go to the U.S. to tour, way back in the early days, but the producers/execs over there, wanted them to change everything they did basically, to make them more 'America friendly', (I think you all would have liked 'em how they were), so they said "#@!$ *$!!!!", came home, and never went back, lol. Cold Chisel, from my hometown of Adelaide, South Australia.. Jimmy grew up here (Born in Scotland).. They did their first gigs here.. Dave Blight, the harmonica player, still plays at blues bars around town. Im glad you call it harp, people look at me strange when I do haha... I play with song with my Gen X band, it goes OFF!
Your hooked lol 👍- "Cold Chisel Live 1983 Ian Moss performs Georgia on My Mind" is an absolute must, along with "Cold Chisel - Wild Thing (Last Stand)" 🎤🎸🔥
Ian Moss was the lead singer of the band originally but wanted to step back from that position and asked the band to find another co-lead singer (as Ian also plays fantastic guitar). That's when Jimmy/ 'Barnsey' joined the band. 'Mossy' wrote this song from his own experience . Bow River is up in the tropical North of Australia. In this same concert, unplanned for and at the end of it, Mossy sings the best version of the American classic, 'Georgia' that you will ever hear ! The cameraman was so blown away by it that he made a special video of it !
As an Aussie growing up on Cold Chisel, INXS, Midnight Oil, Rose Tatoo, Angels and ACDC its incredible that Aussie rock is still being discovered ......but Im happy you are here for it........and i almost forgot Silverchair - Frog Stomp album
Yes Cold Chisel were around from the mid 1970s till they disbanded circa 1983. One of my favourite "Chisel" songs come from their earliest era (1978) (?) and is called "One Long Day" (it's on RUclips you could check it out for yourself). I attended their "Last Stand" tour in, if memory serves, 1983 (ish) They have however re-formed from time to time for certain events. This video is from one of these later events.
When I was eighteen I left home and hitchhiked to Darwin , My inspiration was this album , met many great people we got drunk, smoked heaps of shit. FXXK it was epic , now im 58 and still rockin to CC , cheers .
Song is about the now long closed Bow River diamond mine in the Kimberley's of Western Australia. At the southern end of lake Argyle where the Bow and Ord rivers meet.
Back in the mid to late 80s, me and a few friends went to see Ian Moss at the Forester's Arms in Melbourne and it was a great show. Me and my best mate were sitting on the side having a beer after it seemed like the show was over then we heard the first couple of bars of our favourite song at the time, Bow River, so we made our way to the front of the stage was getting into it, when Jimmy came out to join him. it was totally unforgettable, one of my best nights ever.

One of the best live bands I've ever seen. I used to go to pub gigs around Sydney when they played live as "The Barking Spiders" to keep the numbers down because they loved the intimacy of pub shows.
Welcome to the legend…as a child born down under in the seventies I had the privilege of growing up listening to these guys. When the War is Over is one of my top all time songs ❤️
Mate what a great band. Some of our favourites are Khe San Standing on the Outside Flame Trees Working class man Many more to choose from. Jimmys a good bloke who’s had a few medical issues of late but he’s still getting it done. They formed in the 70’s in South Australia and are fantastic live. I followed them on tour around Australia (they didn’t know I was ther of course 😅) although I had a beer with Jimmy in Northern Territory (best schooner ever). Don Walker was a talent who wrote many of their songs for 10 years one in particular was about a mate of his about his story in the Vietnam war. Thanks for the memories dude.
Love the channel and your reactions. Just saw cold chisel in concert last week. Absolutely brilliant. Check out khe sanh, flame trees, forever now, when the war is over (live), cheap wine and Saturday night ARE A MUST.

Yep, they came back from the US and wrote “You Got Nothing I Want” as an up you to the American recording executives. 🙂 Another brilliant song- ruclips.net/video/-BiJKq7ynms/видео.htmlsi=ysxPNlzPQ2_x_EwO
Ian Moss!!!! Insane.
For some reason the part where Jimmy goes off, towards the end, makes the hair on the back of my neck stand up. It's so intense.
4 great singers and 5 great songwriters...
Saw them at the Arkaba in 82. It was fucken loud!
I never liked them when I was young, and now I can't get enough of them. Jimmy has aged like a fine wine.
Me too😂
I was the same.now in my top 5. Ian one of my fav musicians
Just like a jam session with mates. The best rendition also.
As an Aussie growing up on Cold Chisel, INXS, Midnight Oil, Rose Tatoo, Angels and ACDC its incredible that Aussie rock is still being discovered ......but Im happy you are here for it........and i almost forgot Silverchair - Frog Stomp album
Ian Moss had a successful career by himself as well, two songs come to mind, tuckers daughter and my baby
"Barking Spiders Live" is my go to Chisel album when I'm 2/3 through a bottle of Jim Beam Black. Live album loaded with bangers!!!
I recommend everything they've ever done!
Ian Moss did some great solo music too
Yes Cold Chisel were around from the mid 1970s till they disbanded circa 1983.
I am going to see Cold Chisel in October, I can't wait.
Have fun! I’m sure it’s gonna be an amazing show! 😃
SATURDAY NIGHT!!!
Chisel are world class and a rabbit hole worth going down.... try "Wild Thing" from the Last Stand Tour....
That one keeps getting suggested! Definitely have to look into it! Thank ya!
Ian Moss has some great solo material as well. A lot of Aussie based music.
OMG YEAH!!! My fave Chisel song, thanks buddy! I love Ian's voice, check out 'Tucker's Daughter'!
Seeing them live in November!!!!! Yeah!!!!
Let’s gooooo! That’s gonna be a blast!
@@setonhillstudios It will be so good
i forgot how much dancing i did. i am gen x Aussie and i miss my bands. We would see bands four nights a week at pubs.
When I was eighteen I left home and hitchhiked to Darwin , My inspiration was this album , met many great people we got drunk, smoked heaps of shit. FXXK it was epic , now im 58 and still rockin to CC , cheers .
The third vocalist is the harmonica player David Blight!
Jimmy Barnes and Ian moss in cold chisel
❤❤Cold Chisel were the best going around, everyone of them full of talent, awsome🎉🎉
You should check out “wild thing” from the last stand concert. You won’t be disappointed!
Appreciate the suggestion! Thanks so much! 😄
@@setonhillstudios seriously you won't be disappointed. Cold Chisel doing "Wild Thing" live from the Last Stand tour has got to be one of the best live rock performances ever. 😁
@@MariaBM1yeah Jimmy Drunk he’s phenomenal and didn’t miss a beat 😂😂
@@guccigasbag2780 he's mind blowing! As is Mossy and the whole band.
Love seeing new people finding Cold Chisel. Check out Cold Chisel,Hell broke Lucy Official video. Im suggesting the Official video only because it is easier to understand the words of the song the first time.
We were lucky enough to see cold chisel play in the pubs back in the 70s. Ian Moss, legend, and Jimmy with his ferocious voice. One Long Day, epic blues track of theirs. Cheers mate.
G’Day mate, so happy you are loving some of our Aussie legends. Cold Chisel ultimate pub band. I grew up listening to these guys.
Jimmy and Ian Moss absolute fire.
Cheers Kev
Still one of the greatest songs ever made! still brings a tear to my eye!
Welcome to Chisel! Check out When The War is Over, live. I'm in Perth, Australia and have tickets to their concert here in October. Will be my 3rd Chisel concert and I've seen Jimmy about 13 times. Legends! 🤟
Some of our favourites are
Khe San
Standing on the Outside
Flame Trees
Working class man
Many more to choose from.
Cold Chisel are legend’s 🤘
Love the channel and your reactions. Just saw cold chisel in concert last week. Absolutely brilliant. Check out khe sanh, flame trees, forever now, when the war is over (live), cheap wine and Saturday night ARE A MUST.
Brother. Aussies have been rocking out to this for 50 FUCKING YEARS!
You need to find Aussie music my man. So many amazing bands over so man genres. You want to do an Aussie week with two or three songs a day to get you going. Let me know mate I will line the whole week up so you can go from 60’s to now.
✌🏻 peace
