For the bikes in Long Way Up, they did most of the plans to change the bikes for the trip in a simulator first, and it's also where they did most of the testing as well before actually modifying the bikes. It's why they were able to convert the two motorcycles so quickly in the real world. So with limited testing and prototyping, Harley Davidson's engineers made two bikes that lasted 13k miles and there were no physical prototypes for what they did, and they did it all in just 6 weeks.

It was really cool watching Long Way Up after having the HD LiveWire. That's still where I'm hesitant on on trading in my LiveWire for a Del Mar. I really liked the feel and fun of the bike, but I feel a bit of nostalgia knowing I have a piece of history with Harley's first electric motorcycle lol. And also you're right from your video, the Del Mar is way quieter than the LiveWire. I do really like the sound of the LiveWire. It reminds me of Star Wars sounds of like speeder bikes or pod racers lol.

I have to think this simulation / virtual environment is also used for the manufacturing aspect as well

I think electric transportation appeals to more people than the gamer segment. Environmental, economics, less maintenance, tech…appeals to people my age as well. I’m in my mid 50’s and have been seriously considering the move to electric both for cars and motorcycles. I think transitioning from gas to electric seems like it might shift the work/life balance for the better.

I have fully made the transition to all electric. I have a 2020 HD LiveWire and a Tesla Model 3. I'm also a meteorologist so weather and climate are close to me lol. I have been documenting the transition on my RUclips channel in between weather forecasts for the northeast US. There were some hiccups about charging, but I have that sorted out now. I have a Tesla Wall Connector at my house that charges both my Tesla and my LiveWire with a small adapter.

I really like your breakdown of the marketing aspect. The only extra thing I would tell LiveWire is to market the environmental side of this too. We both did videos on the cost savings of the LiveWire vs gas cars and motorcycles and I feel like LiveWire should have some aspect of that in marketing tool.

Putting an electric motorcycle in a video game is cool. Riding around in snow with no helmet & gloves is even more cool :)

…or just make an electric motorcycle that can keep up with ICE bikes for a day of riding. Then you won’t have to market to children (“gamers”) for an urban application that is dangerous and impractical. I’ve been riding for decades and I avoid urban situations like the plague. I’d never encourage a new rider (“gamers”) to ride in an urban environment. You’re borderline unethical in this marketing approach and is probably why LW isn’t doing it this way. These bikes are awesome toys that, unfortunately, don’t yet allow for the full motorcycle freedom experience.
And they don’t save the environment! Stop saying that. If saving the environment is your motivation then we should all stay inside and…play video games.

He said 25-45 year olds, not children. Marketing to children would be ineffective, because they can’t drive and don’t have money.
