  • Just thought I’d film the process of fitting a new 10” floating display in to the Fairmont. This display is a huge upgrade to the 7” mode I’d previously fitted.
    I tried to film as much of the wiring as possible, could be useful for someone 🤷🏼‍♂️

      @@Jeenzy79 Hi mate, thanks for the replay and info. I was going to get same unit you had before you added bigger screen but my car being BA XR6 i like to keep it as original as possible. I found a video on how to install it on FG and it was very simple, the dude just found right wires and connected camera wires to it and it worked. But that was FG and i am not sure if the wiring is the same on BA but i'll keep searching and see what happens. My biggest problem is that people don't like factory units there for not making any videos on it. Have a great weekend.

    • @Jeenzy79
      @Jeenzy79  4 месяца назад +1

      @@aussieoioioi7267 That’s awesome mate, glad to hear. That patch harness will be the issue then. So I think the idea of the harness is that it taps into the reverse camera signal to throw the display on the screen. So when to have it installed and press a button on the fascia it will send a power signal through the reserve camera input which triggers the screen to throw up the splash screen, just as it would throw up the reverse camera picture when you would put the car into reverse if that makes sense. Hence the reason that patch harness taps into the reverse camera picture signal. So if you plug that patch harness in even without the reverse camera installed, it should throw up the splash screen as it’s meant to.

    Hey mate, I have been meaning to have a chat with you regarding your latest head unit adventures. I am looking at purchasing a Eonon UA13 head unit (replaces your first Q04PRO) with Aerpro facia but I was a little concerned about the depth of the unit as Eonon emailed the dimensions 100mm depth (not shown on website) compared to 80mm for the Q04PRO. In your experience now that you have installed 2 units (WOW) do you think that would be an issue? By the way love your posts.

      @@johnnywarbo Hey mate, I think you will be fine. Both units I’ve installed are well and truly clear of fouling on anything at the back of the unit. Worst case (if it does) you can easily unclip the factory radio plug from the bracket it clips in to which should give a bit more clearance if needed.
      Cheers for the feedback too mate, much appreciated.

      @@Jeenzy79 Fantastic and thanks, it's amazing to think that you pay more for the facia than the head unit. @xr6turbocuz-xy3uf Yeah it is enough… but with the aerpro unit there is a purple wire which gets power when the car is in reverse so there is no need to cave to connect anything the the reverse lights… all you need to do is connect that purple wire to the little red power wire (the little one that hangs off the yellow reverse camera plug) and the reverse trigger for the stereo. Then at the camera end… you use that same small red wire to connect to the camera itself to give it power… hope that makes sense
